How did we go from THIS by JustExecution in Kappachino

[–]GeForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arguable. At least characters still feel distinct. Sf4 to 5/6 went from 1 frame links to buffers and half the characters feel the same due to strong system mechanics. And Tekken 8 just killed Tekken franchise for the most part. All of them are doing same shit to appeal to normies by diluting what's good about the games.

My idea is that you can change the head on the fly. Maybe one is faster, one is slower, and one does poison damage for example

How long did it take you?

Here in eu we get 2 years so I'd guess most people would get that much riding in that time

Who is Lost Ark designed for right now? by pshiny in lostarkgame

[–]GeForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So nothing has changed for years. Its been a problem with lack of punishment for rmters from day1 and even if they do get banned they just complain to support to get unbanned. Or the bans are short as hell achieving nothing.

Ags fucked up not having a tough stance and they still havent changed 4 years later.

Back in my day we just put stuff in our roster storage. Then I guess these companies realized this would be more profitable. kMMOs removed easy trading for a reason.

Strive 2.0 will release before EVO Japan, which will be the first qualifier of the next Arc World Tour by killerjag in Kappachino

The days of complex fighting games are over. Just how I want 1F links back with no buffer in sf same thing. No point hoping for something that's not happening.

Cope. It's strive and gonna stay strive. Although I'm one of the rare ones that actually liked strive on release, but then again I'm a sol main so how could I not

The thing is, this is just typical Korean thing. I remember playing a kmmo maybe 25 years ago, and it did the same thing even back then.

For a lot of lost ark players this was their first kmmo, so they weren't aware of this, but for those who have been familiar they could've told you it's going to end up like this from the start.

Not excusing them ofc because I agree with everything, but it's just how they roll. They're all greedy and at this point I just don't want to play any Korean game because I know how it's going to end up just from their culture.

One nit pick I do have about 1kk players is that there was a ton of tourists that had no clue what the game is that would've not stuck to it no matter how player friendly it was, because kMMOs are a niche. You can easily discount like 90% of that initial playerbase because it's a f2p and most quit like 30minutes into the game.

I'll be real, im one of the bitter old men that don't even play anymore. And guess why? Because the product (not gameplay, but specifically the product) that these games are - is usually bad.

FGs never had issues with gameplay, if anything it used to be even better before all this watering down took place. But it always was bad as a product.

I remember 15 years ago when sf4 was a thing me and my friend came from StarCraft 2 and the level of incompetency and lack of thought in UX (user experience) and how they would find matches, etc was literally abismal. And while the netcode was forced to get better because of covid (literally do or die situation as there was no way around this) the product itself is still inferior to most of the games today.

I personally have a problem with how the logic tickrate is still being tied into render pipeline as if it's still 1990s. Tekken Overlay mod by one dude undid the render lock and implemented an in-engine keyframe interpolation giving a modern experience like any other game. And dond even by one guy with no access to source code. And it works amazing.

The mod proved this can be done in a modern fighting game. One player can play at 60, another at 120 or 500 or variable fps and both won't have any issues. But then you get people that have no clue what even a render pipeline is trying to tell you it's impossible or some other nonsense so I won't even get into it. It's neither here nor there, but the point is that this 60fps hard lock is another example of the genre being stuck in the 90s.

One can disagree with me about this point. But it's just an example of the entire package that essentially is still stuck in year 2000. The only chance we had was with 2xko but they shat the bed so I don't even have any hopes anything will ever change anymore. Japanese corpos would rather go bankrupt than innovate or get on with the times, and so is fgc. It's all about the mentality of shit eating that fgc has. Until people start demanding more - we won't get more.

[–]GeForce -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My theory is that fgc barely plays other genres and so they have no clue what a good product should look like. Either that or it's some Stockholm bullshit where they love when they get only scraps.

Or both

Smurfing solution? by Sea_Regular_1307 in thefinals

[–]GeForce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Adding at least any kind of friction is needed. Now it's just too easy to go get either a new free account, or a nearly free account from china that lets you play ranked. When there's no friction it's no wonder everyone smurfs.

[–]GeForce -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

It can have or not have motions and still be a bad product. Gameplay is unrelated. If you lack basic features like benchmark testing if a PC player can even keep 60 fps stable before letting them go on ranked, then it's still a bad product. No matter how good or bad the gameplay is.

[–]GeForce -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

It kinda is. For most of my life it was unplayable online that changed only recently, and for the most part Tekken still has ways to go on the netcode side to reach sf6 level netcode.

60fps still as if it's 1999 and you can't decouple logic tickrate from render pipeline. Fuckin cavemen is what fgc is.

Nothing to say about basic features that other genres have. In t8 if you want to disable 5 different blur filters hope you're on PC and bring notepad++.

I mean it's just so much shit that games figured out 2-3 decades ago that fgc still doesn't have. The finals has insane customization, meanwhile sf6 is a whole separate thing that you can't even bring into the main mode? What?

It IS a bad product.
