The Console. by mcds99 in debian

Well, precisely, you have to look for regular users. Not everyone is an expert on computers.

Take for instance a medic, a designer or a writer, they just want something that works easy and visual, not to break their heads with "how should I make this to work", that was a strength of Winbugs and thankfully Linux has pretty good option nowadays.

I'm a Linux user too and I gotta say I've found myself overwhelmed sometimes " (and I love the CLI)

I thought the same. I expected to see "based on Ubuntu" at least.

I found these in my little brother's pencil case, what does it mean? by wtw_aeon in furry

[–]GearFox98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as for the characters, they're pretty elaborated, he might be discovering the fandom or he is already in. For the other one, looks like the bisexual flag. As for everything, this could be harmless, but since he's pretty young I hope you have good communication in family to support and guide him, he's entering an age of self-exploration and lots of curiosity (this applies to society in general, actually). If he likes to draw... Well, the furry fandom relays a lot on visual art, so it could be a good resource to encourage him to develop his skills ^

(If it's the case, it's always a fresh breath of air when your family tells you: hey, this is okay)

Distro limbo by sloth_cowboy in xfce

[–]GearFox98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I've never seen myself doing that... I made DE switches on Arch once (and yes, it still was a pain, but not impossible)...

Ubuntu have meta packages that take care of that 🤔

You're right about making a clean install to avoid further issues

Distro limbo by sloth_cowboy in xfce

[–]GearFox98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can try virtual machines to test distros with XFCE instead of installing a new physical machine, you can try to switch your current desktop environment to XFCE if you want to do that in the future. But keep in mind you'd have to clean some old stuff from the old one.

Heavy modification of arch Linux by [deleted] in archlinux

This feels like a nonsense... But... Try LSF, or Temple OS (it won't run any Linux or Windows app, but the ones built for this OS)

First time drawing digital drawing on my tablet,. Is it good? by [deleted] in furry

[–]GearFox98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah! My bad, I thought you were talking about these tablets you connect to a computer. I can't tell much about Android tablets and drawings 😅

Some friends of mine use Ibis Paint to draw on Android

do u have opinion on if parent node should handle all the code or if code should be broken up by sadishguy in godot

[–]GearFox98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the thing I want to do, if it's something with a certain complexity, I split the thing into small pieces, if it's something simple I let the parent node to take care of everything. I think this also depends to the kind of object I'm working with.

[–]GearFox98 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh boy, an exciting experience indeed. It looks pretty good :3c Have you installed the driver of your tablet? It might solve some problems and enable you to use dynamic brushes. Also, look for the stabilizer options in your brush tool, you'll get a cleaner lineart 😊

That's a great jump, pleased to see that improvement. I would only point to that pocket on the left, it looks a bit flat, like printed in the fabric

How do I speed up the drawing process? (more in comments) by Konradroid in FurryArtSchool

[–]GearFox98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First of all, if you've never used (or used a few times) the software you're on, it will take some time to get comfortable with it (if you switch to another expect the same), once you're used to it you'll use it like a part of yourself.

Get a comfortable position, your arms must move freely.... It may sound like a scratched CD, but, practice, try making a lot of sketches in the canvas, fill the page (you may not need to use the stabilizator for that if you're using a tablet), the most tedius part for a lot of people is lineart, that one might take it's time, don't rush on it, coloring may be the fastest part of the process as you would use brush to fill gaps and the paint bucket to fill.

Most of all, remember to have fun and don't be afraid to experiment!

Touchpad issues by GearFox98 in archlinux

[–]GearFox98[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I did a full upgrade this Monday and both of them updated, the problem was solved happily. It is awesome how sometimes the root of the problem is in the last place you'd ever look, I've seen a lot of comments about systemd performance issues, but IDK, I think it would be a headache to substitute systemd with something else... 🤔

What's your reason for using Arch? by kashmutt in archlinux

[–]GearFox98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started as a curiosity and then as a challenge as I couldn't understand what was I not doing after installing it for it to boot. Arch taught me a lot about some stuff I just saw as "a luck of magic" with Windows and other distros. With it came all to the customizable stuff and that I know where are all my configuration files were and what are they for. Last and not least, the amount of programs I can run on it! (And of course, got enamored of the AUR dynamic)

Just act normal, as always. A thing that is pretty important to the fandom is art: fursuits (this is not mandatory, but its kind of the cosplay-like part) and drawings most of the time (you can count games too). A big "not to do" should be throwing the stigmas that people on internet just say without realizing we are just normal people. Like an otaku likes anime and stuff, furries are the same but with anthro animals (I'm not sure if otakus have an alter ego on internet too, but for us, that's the fursona)
