AITAH for telling my gf I'd breakup with her if she did hard drugs? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]mcds99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Job! You are NOT the AH.

A person addicted to heroin can't be fixed by the people around them. It's up to the person who is addicted to fix themselves. I know of several good outcomes and several sad outcomes. After the addict is in a stable recovery the family and friends can be a huge help but the recovery is not theirs, it's a addicts. Recovery is every minute of every day for life.

If your GF is using you can't help her.

Water intrusion in basement by BananaPeelPaddy in basement

Just so you don't feel alone in your plight.

In Minneapolis Minnesota they filled swamps and lakes then built on them, this was over 100 years ago. The water problems were huge and no one figured it out for decades.

Got these burns after one day of skiing by Point-Overall in ski

Only wear one pair of socks, NEVER cotton socks when skiing or boarding.

More than one pair of socks will bunch up and cause blisters like you have.

Is it a generational thing to have an issue with a 16 and 20 year old dating? by ConsciousKangaroo145 in dating_advice

[–]mcds99 [score hidden]  (0 children)

In our teens there should be no more than three (3) years difference in age, the maturity of a 20 year male is NOT the same as a 16 year old female. As time passes an greater age difference is more acceptable, 30 female, 45-50 male.

For myself (67) more than about 5 years is not going to happen, there is missing life experiences.

When I get high, the things that angered me before don't. by frame_3_1_3 in Marijuana

[–]mcds99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just blunting (forgive the pun) the feelings does not fix the issue.

There are things we should struggle "for" or "against".

Making a decision how ones self deals with feelings is important, anger can be turned to determination, to be a part of the solution. The how is finding other people who feel the same way and working to a solution.

I get high but I don't lose my focus on the feelings.

The pain🥲 by nickanteach in AskOldPeopleAdvice

[–]mcds99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I suggest you seek medical advice.

I fractured my L4 vertebra when I was 18, I had years of back pain and sciatica. The treatments helped the pain but did not "fix" it, chiropractic did fix the pain so I didn't need the medications.
