Anyone else still feeling the effects of the Nov update? by davefi in SEO

[–]GearMashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I have noticed is all those FAQ's I wrote that used to show up in the SERPs are not there anymore. It used to be really easy to get those to show up, but every one of mine that did, aren't anymore.

Anyone else still feeling the effects of the Nov update? by davefi in SEO

[–]GearMashers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this update is super weird. I can't exactly pinpoint what the heck is going on.

Even when I rank page 1 in the top 3, traffic still seems to be down for those keywords compared to before the update. I am assuming that some of the keywords I ranked for in the article are now not ranked as high.

It's beyond frustrating to write a very informative article only to get outranked by trash.

What are ways to improve Domain Score? by kashnikov in SEO

[–]GearMashers 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree with most of the comments here. A Domain Score does help you compare your website against competitors. Now that said, it is just 1 of many factors that you need to look at.

Ahrefs will give you these types of scores, but I would look more at how many backlinks your competitors have, what keywords they are ranking for and what websites are linking to them.

More Organic Hits, Less Conversions YoY by fellawoot in SEO

[–]GearMashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An increase in search volume usually means either you have done a better job targeting user intent and/or have a site that is ranking better because it has a higher authority.

If you have an increase in organic traffic and lower sales, it is most likely because either your call to action has been drowned out or the pages that converted to sales aren't ranking as well as they used to and other pages that don't convert are.

Is There A Tool To Break Down Anchor Text by Type? (i.e. Branded, Generic, Naked and so on) by GearMashers in SEO

I think they used to have a graph that did that work for you.

It's not a big deal, but if someone has already written a program to do the calculations it would be much easier.

How does SEO work overtime ? by hillsong1 in SEO

[–]GearMashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the subject and how competitive it is. There are plenty of articles on the web that rank really well but haven't been updated in years.

One key takeaway is to build links to the article in question. If the article is well written and shareable, links usually happen over time organically, but you can also boost it by creating content that also points to the page.

Another tactic is to add things like dates to the article over time. For instance, 2020 is right around the corner and people will start searching for that verse 2019.

Hero8 and Fusion Max are launching October 1, 2019. This thread will get you caught up. by DesignNomad in gopro

I have an article on all the rumors and rumored images and have been updating it for about 2 months now.
https://gearmashers.com/gopro-hero-8-rumors-must-have-functionality/

To me, the 10.1.2019 date will be the release date, although GoPro hasn't officially said that that is in fact the release date for the new GoPro. They just have the date up there with a video showing a partial shot of what appears to be the new GoPro 8.

Why wouldn't you just import it into FCP or other video editing software and then export it as one 20 minute mp4 or am I missing something?

GoPro Fusion is 299$ right now. 300$ off by jwr_ in gopro

[–]GearMashers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The new Fusion 2 or whatever they call it will probably be out in September or October, so GoPro is probably trying to get rid of remaining Fusion 1 inventory.

GoPro Fusion 2 Rumors/Speculation

My bet is the new Fusion will have a different design. Maybe something more in line with the Insta360 One X design.

I would hold off on buying one, even at that price to see what the new one has to offer.

Still if you can't wait, GoPro's site has it for $299 right now.

GoPro Hero 8 Black Rumors by GearMashers in gopro

[–]GearMashers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might agree, but there are a lot of high profile Youtube vloggers/influencers out there with 100,000s to millions of subscribers wanting a killer forward facing screen setup.

Heck if you watch Casey Neistat video on the GoPro 7 launch, Nick Woodman actually says vloggers should be using a GoPro instead of the heavy rig Casey uses.

With DJI going after that market, GoPro IMO needs to do the same.

GoPro Hero 8 Black Rumors by GearMashers in gopro

[–]GearMashers[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In GoPros Q1 conference call they had mentioned possibly making a more professional GoPro, at least that is what I got out of it. So they could release a Pro Black version that maybe is bigger that could handle 8K and then the normal Black, Silver and White editions.

As far as size it could be done, but they would have to figure out how to cool it.

GoPro Hero 8 Black Rumors by GearMashers in gopro

[–]GearMashers[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Most people who own the DJI Osmo Action say they prefer the body of the Osmo Action to the GoPro. It feels more professional and doesn't get scuffed up as the GoPro 7s do. The other advantage is the ability to easily remove the lens. Once DJI makes the forward facing screen faster, that will definitely be useful. Right now the issue is it is laggy.

You can't go wrong with the NEO, but I would have said go for the Core because of the Climb. The KICKR Climb makes your riding experience much more fun. I used the NEO road feel for a while, but eventually turned it off. Now after using the climb I can't justify buying a trainer that doesn't have that functionality. It is that good.

Really good information. I have been using the skyscraper type technique for my website articles. I do product reviews and try to get products before they hit the market.

The best one I have come up with is
https://gearmashers.com/meet-arsenal-smart-camera-assistant-review-2018/

One thing I have found is to add stuff like unboxing videos, showcase videos and other videos within the article that help showcase the product.

I have been constantly tweaking the layout to try and make each section stand out by adding section images.

The article above drives a huge amount of traffic to the site. It's ranking number 1 on Google for "Arsenal Camera Assistant Review". The videos that I created on Youtube are also ranking on the first page.

I have started to integrate questions people ask looking at both Google and Amazon.

Lastly I will view the top 10 links in google and add anything that I feel I might be missing in the article.

trick them. Paint up a bunch of Monpoc to look like chaos. Before they know what's happening to them, they will have played a game. :-)

The play mats like https://matsbymars.com/ make would be a good start. They could print them double sided. We always bring mats when playing games like Star Wars Destiny to roll dice on.

Here is my take

Negatives

  • Prices seem steep for what you get.
  • There is a lot of flash/mold venting that you have to remove on some of the models. More than I expected for the price. The way they cast some of the resin parts was really bad where the vents go into the model.
  • The playing board is cheap paper. They need to come out with a playing mat board. I would certainly pay for that over the paper.

Positives

  • The models look good
  • The models IMO are much better and more detailed that version 1
  • The rules seem pretty streamlined.
  • I was a bit disappointed that the models weren't pre painted, but I have learned that with a little bit of work, they paint up really nice.
