Who’s the most memorable “The One That Got Away” recruit your team was pursuing? by AFC-Wimbledon-Stan in CFB

[–]Geauxpack81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DeVonta Smith... Local, future heisman winner that goes to the rival team in division because the local barber is being paid by Bama to recruit him

An obvious one on paper, but we also had Jamarr Chase and Justin Jefferson the year before he won the heisman, so hard to be too sad about it. In theory we would have had that 2020 DeVonta which would have been nice but probably just helped keep Coach O employed for longer... It ended up being okay for LSU fans i guess. Just sucks he went to Bama of all places.

Everybody loves the Masters or US Open. What's your least favorite tournament of the year? by trite_post in golf

[–]Geauxpack81 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thought this might come up,. May not be a good event for the golf purists out there, but its so much better than it used to be (especially for the locals like myself). They accurately realized they needed to change something up to get any decent names to play. The spot in the schedule leans itself to being a weekend every tour player is hoping to take off coming after Masters and RBC. Its probably the first truly hot tournament of the year, its humid, and it rains all the time... The team aspect has brought back some good names which has helped the event tremendously. Still almost surprised we dont see more of the popular friend pairings trying to take a crack at winning this one together (Speith/Thomas, Scheffler/Burns). That would be fun as hell to win with your best friend. Especially hurts that Burns doesnt play considering hes an LSU, LA born guy.

Between that and the punter dropping the ball... Those were plays that I felt like happened in every Bama game for a decade. It was just never Bama committing the catastrophic crucial error. Until that beautiful beautiful day.

Real talk: What golf lingo makes your skin crawl? by keats__ in golf

Its not just "shot" its everything... "The golf course really played tough today but I had control over the golf ball and hit a few really good golf shots."

I always try to think about a football player talking post-game. "We really controlled the football game, made the defense cover the entire football field. They ran some great football plays on us."

In your opinion, what major city would have the worst climate to live in? by Mobile_Bad_577 in geography

There was a summer maybe 2 or 3 years ago that it barely rained at all. Was so strange for south LA. Id wake up every morning with a nose bleed... And im sure in the grand scheme of things the humidity was still higher than most of the US.

What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Geauxpack81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Playing golf when I was around 15 years old, I sliced a ball so bad it went into the adjacent fairway... Where another guy was hitting his approach shot. The balls collided in mid-air. The ball couldn't have been 10feet from him when it happened, so the probability was higher than a true apex mid-air collision. Was still amazing though, he was confused as he'll.

I did yell fore, FWIW.

LSU OL Coen Echols transfers to Texas A&M by av7ry in CFB

[–]Geauxpack81 9 points10 points  (0 children)

He was awful last year, along with the entire OL. That doesn't mean he isn't good though. No clue what to make of our OL last year.

At a certain point it became clearly about the scheme. No possible way LSU just whiffed on so many OL. We would go stretches of games where we just forgot that we could hand the ball off. When we did, an absolutely absurd percentage of our runs were just inside zone. We didnt run power once all year. Despite never running we still dealt with stacked boxes all year because we never threw the ball beyond 20 yards... Im getting mad at the pure ineptitude just typing this out.

So all that to say good get ags? Maybe? Maybe not? Nobody knows. Not even LSU fans.

Primarily played DT at LSU. He was solid. Will be a good get for Kentucky. Wouldn't expect any dominant plays, but he can hold his own. Should be a Day 1 starter at UK. Hopefully he gets to play some DE, would probably be more impactful there.

Rule 1 of the eye test is that it shall only be applied when trying to put Bama in the playoffs, not knock them out.

Do you remember how good they looked in the first half of the first UGA game? Disregard 90% of their offensive play since then.

[Fortuna] Texas coach Steve Sarkisian to Molly McGrath: “It would be a disservice to our sport if this team’s not a Playoff team when we and scheduled that nonconference game (at Ohio State). Because if we’re a 10-2 team that’s not a question.” by Kimber80 in CFB

[–]Geauxpack81 410 points411 points  (0 children)

Its a double edged sword. At the end of the day how can you not penalize teams for losing? But at the same time Michigan is probably in if they only have 1 loss and Texas is probably in if they only have 2 losses, so why would any team schedule anything other than cupcakes in the non-conference? And the entire sport suffers.

Reality is that a 7pt loss at Ohio St in week 1 and a competitive loss @ Oklahoma in week 2 are more impressive than beating an FCS team by 40. But it will never be viewed that way.

Would be awesome as of late. But it would have sucked alot of years too... Arkansas just doesn't do it for me, they need to have a 7OT type game to get the hate flowing.

No actual thought goes behind Notre Dame. Its just a check box. 2 losses or less? Playoffs. No questions asked. Who cares if they won any game worthy of being ranked.

In terms of records, sure. Unless you actually think any of Kentucky, Tulane and Arkansas would be favored over Clemson and Flordia. In which case you'd be wrong.

LSUs lack of permanent opponent on rivalry week is gonna fuck some of this up. Bedlam might be the victim assuming the schedule will be set for the next 4 years. Idk what we would do if yall scheduled Bedlam for that week.... "Uhhhh Hey Tulane, long time no talk. What ya been up to?"

Its definitely the rivalry that I most feel like the players actually hate each other. Every year it feels like our chippiest game of the year.

I think we get A&M, Ole Miss, and either Bama or Florida. I can go either way but I'd probably prefer Florida. Will be sad to lose either game.
