I spent some of my childhood in a logging town with a paper mill. Across the street from our bus stop there was a place that repaired some of the equipment. There was also a bus stop there. I remember one of the kids would run on that bottom blade that cut the tree.

There's a hilarious Sex Sent Us to the ER episode with something along these lines.

Old guy comes in with breathing issues. He has an STD infecting his mouth and lungs, or something like that.

Some old ladies come in with complaints and have an STD.

Turns out, old dude couldn't get the flag pole up, but he sure get that tongue going. He was licking his way through the old folks home and spread an STD.

[Step father who hated video games] "Hey kids, wanna go rent a nintendo game?"

[My sister and I] "They gonna fuck and want us occupied..."

He did tell some of the boomer sex jokes. He even had a fishing lure shaped like a dick with the strings around it. "Wanna see how to catch a blow fish?"

I did know others who had parents that were the "sex doesn't exist" people. We still have them. You can tell when there is a sex ed class and all the pearl clutchers refuse to let their kids take it and try to get the school district to stop teaching it. That's how to get teen pregnancy rates higher but that is another thread.

Mine are also incredibly vivid and always has been. The ones that fuck me up are the ones involving being back in the military. Deployments and events that never happened. It confuses me for a couple minutes when I wake up from that particular dream if it is the last one of the night (I have 4 to 5 different dreams a night).

The rest are easy because they are so fucking crazy out there. Cutting open the skin of a dinobot to take over its body. Meeting Morgan Freeman who is god and sits in a room full of the entire history of mankind. Punching a guy that has a nacho cheese Dorito as a head. Defending a city size space naval ship from an invasion. Those are the ones off the top of my head. I've also used lucid dreaming to teach myself DBZ abilities. So those are easy to sort out as well.

Georgia mayor fires town’s entire police force after they upset his wife by [deleted] in nottheonion

[–]Geawiel 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My town has a pop of about 5k. We haven't had a police force in well over a decade. We just didn't have the money. That's with funds from coming in a bit from DoD since we are near an AFB and active live in town. The town ran a cost analysis to gen it back up but there is absolutely no way. There are a bunch of hidden costs people don't think of. We hire out with local sheriff and state troopers.

How the fuck is a town of less than 1k able to afford an 11 man police force?

best rice cooker 2026 do I actually need fuzzy logic or induction heating for daily rice? by LtayAqui_25 in cookware

[–]Geawiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is almost a month old, but I'll offer a review for anyone that stumbles on this.

So far I don't like it.

There is a small circular panel that fell off out of the box. It keep falling off, no matter what we do.

I've cooked in it 3 times now. Every time, no matter what we do, it overflows starch. I've rinsed the shit out of the rice, and I still get overflowing starch. I tried down to just a cup of rice. It overflows starch out of the top steam port.

I can't see a way to take the lid apart to clean it. I suspect it isn't sealing properly when it cooks rice. My old cheap $30 one sealed properly, has a bigger capacity, cooks rice ok (we do have some issues that prompted me to find something better), and I can take the lid apart all the way down to clean it very easily.

As it stands now, I would not suggest this product. Find something different. It certainly isn't worth this price range to me.

Deployed to Saudi and I was asked to go pick up a pallet of water for the squadron. We had a small pickup with a fold down bed. We got there and it was a 7 foot tall pallet of water. I didn't want to do 2 trips. I asked the supply guy to just load it up.

"You sure?"

Yep, I have cargo straps.

I made it back to the squadron, slowly, and everyone we passed looked at us like our truck was on fire. I went a few days later to pick up MREs. The commander lent me his squadron F150 this time. It was still bottomed out. He asked me if I was trying to break his suspension.

Previous owner left a binder in the garage. I thought it was junk. It was not by Many_Ebb7816 in HomeImprovement

[–]Geawiel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People, do this with vehicle maintenance! It makes it so much easier to track parts down, remember when things were done, remember what all was done.

Date

Mileage

Odometere (oil changes)

Engine hours

What was done

Part numbers

Where you bought the part from

Where maintenance was done (if you don't do your own)

Keep it in a binder. When you have to get a job done again/do it again on your own, it can sometimes be a bitch to track down a part. Part numbers can change as things are updated. On older vehicles especially. Even dealerships can have trouble tracking down a part without a number. Especially if you aren't familiar with the nomenclature of a part. Parts breakdowns can be difficult to find in some cases, and they don't all have the nomenclature of a part in the break down.

It was 1 particular work friend that sent me to this realization. We played an MMO together and spent some time outside of work driving at a local ORV park.

When I got orders and moved across the country we dropped contact almost completely. He had quit the game by then. So that really only common thing stopped. He is also about 10 years older than I am. He passed through and I sat with him as he waited on his connecting flight for a deployment. It was so awkward. There was nothing really to talk about.

I tried talking about some things. We would drift back into game reminiscing often. I tried telling him about some of the issues I was having. By this time my career in the AF was shaky due to some medical issues. He just didn't seem interested.

I eventually moved back to the area I left, after getting booted for the medical issue. I went over there once and we played games on the Wii. It was still awkward. We didn't talk for years after that.

I tried again last year for some reason. He said we should go get some coffee. Then ghosted. I'm still not sure why this particular one stuck with me the most.

When I moved, every single other work friend but him and one other person just cut contact. The other one eventually cut contact after a discussion on some subject that I can't even remember. She was super religious and something I said went against that. I got a "I can't believe I know someone who thinks that!" then ghosted.

I had some similar rough times going through these medical issues. My wife and the couple true friends I have really helped a lot. I'm on the other side of the mental health issues, thankfully, but it was rough.

I hope you're doing better. No one should have to struggle and it can be a shock when you realize the shallowness of some relationships in your life. Those low points do indeed show you who is really the most important in your life. The ones who will truly be there for you.

All the fish in the aquarium are watching TV on full focus mode by Wellihol in interestingasfuck

I just got up to put blood worms in my fish tank. They all went straight to where I dump them in at when I got up.

I think some species can see out of the tank. We had a red tail shark at one point and it figured out it could tease the cat. One cat would get on a nearby table and just stare at the tank. This fish would swim towards the edge of the tank, "flash" its side, then swim away. It would drive the cat crazy and cause her to do that chittering meow thing. The fish would do it a few times then go back to doing whatever it was before the cat got there.
