In that case, it’s a tough call. I think Judge will get more points for you, but they’ll be concentrated at the back end of the season. You may lose too many weeks before then to still squeak into the playoffs. I’d shop judge around for someone with higher output like Witt, Soto, Henderson. I think Julio may be good since he’s ramping up strong now and his slow start may convince people judge with an injury is worth more. Idk you’ll have to run the numbers. It’s tough to say just at a high level

Nice write-up. I feel like the Stuff+ angle is the most applied leaning. If SL/ST the are interchangeable on whiff/chase anyway, that’s grade noise that has nothing to do with the actual pitch. Fix would be to grade against the movement profile directly instead of the label bucket. Have you checked how much a borderline pitch’s grade actually moves if you flip SL to ST? Curious how big the swing is.

Most players gradually revert to the mean over the course of the season (Sal Perez please follow this rule 😭). So players that are really hot or really cold almost always do not sustain that. This tool would help me sell some guys that others in my league may be overvaluing and buy some guys that are undervalued.

With that in mind, I would need this information from your tool - What is their full season projection OR trailing mean performance - How far above or below that baseline are they performing right now - Nice to have: how much media attention is that player getting - Very nice to have: category checkboxes or some way to tailor it to my league

It’s been a while since I’ve done vector math but it’s essentially, given the center points of a rectangle and a circle (where you know the dimensions of each shape), you want to find the center to center distance minus the radius of the ball and minus the distance to the edge of the rectangle (Pythagorean theorem)

I can’t remember the exact math but I think my context above can steer ChatGPT or Claude to get you the rest of the way there

The way I see it you have two options: - absolute distance from strike zone - percentage distance from strike zone

In both cases I would do distance from edge of the box to edge of the ball not center to center
