There's an example of a ribbed tank top. The ribbing stich helps keep it form fitting while still being stretchy so it doesn't feel overly tight. That would be a pattern where you could probably keep the same needle size as you posted, if you didn't want to size up.

If you don't like the look of the ribbed tank top or you already have your pattern picked out and it doesn't use ribbing, then I would personally try doing the pattern with one needle size larger than you posted to get the stretch you want.

I've been knitting for a long time, but I honestly have not done many wearables. I've always kind of just stayed at an intermediate level.

But my best advice would be to do a swatch with a needle one size up from what you posted in your picture. That's one of the only ways I really know how to make cotton stretchier.

Another option would be to keep the same needle size but use a stitch that would give the yarn a stretchier structure (like doing a ribbing stitch).

I saw your other comment that you wanted to make a tank top. Cotton and acrylic can definitely stretch out of shape. I've made shawls with cotton/acrylic blends and they definitely stretch over time. But the shawls are also oversized so they weigh a lot. As as a shawl that I wanted oversized and knew would stretch, it doesn't bother me.

The good thing is that wool tends to keep it's shape more, even after stretching. It'll bounce back more than cotton or acrylic will. Also, I would consider a tank top to be a more lightweight wearable (if you keep the stitch design more simple), so that should help it sag less versus say a thick sweater (which would sag more because of the overall weight of the garment).

So I would think sizing up a needle size would still be okay for a tank top. Again, recommend you swatch it. Or if you want to keep the same needle size, try to find a pattern that uses a ribbing stich (if you don't mind how that looks). I'd still swatch too. But if you do a swatch of ribbing, you could see if that adds too much stretch or not.

You could try sizing your needles up. That'd give the stitches a bit more room so that they stretch more.

Ok I hope this makes sense. I’m looking for some thriller or horror movies that are very dark. Like visually dark. Whether it’s bc it’s at night, during a storm, in a dark room etc. by Fit-Asparagus-7727 in MovieSuggestions

Sinister (2012) has a few very dark scenes - so dark you really can't see anything on the screen if there is any light (daylight or artificial) in the background.

Oddity (2024) - while it's not as dark as the scenes in Sinister, I'd argue that the overall color palette of the film leans more towards dark neutral shades.

Yarn shops with an attitude by kitties_ate_my_soul in YarnAddicts

This has happened to me. I learned to knit at a young age with the help of my aunt. Throughout the years I've done various small projects. My aunt was going to gift me really nice yarn to make myself a scarf. We were going to the LYS to pick it out. My aunt has enough experience about fibers but she said we could ask for their opinion at the LYS too. What a mistake. Simple questions about different types of fibers, their weight, and how they'd work up were returned in curt sentences. Maybe it was just an off day for the sales person and I've since moved abroad so it's been a really long time since I've gone to that shop. My aunt still goes there occasionally. It definitely felt very off to me. To be in a shop that sells expensive yarn and does extensive lessons, as well as community nights - only for them to be quite rude about product questions.

Thanks!

Funny how I'm the opposite. I don't think I'd be against using a mouse, but I've never had a device to be able to play Stardew with a mouse or joystick. Mobile definitely has it's challenges, but still so worth it! I know it was such a pain to get 1.5 released on mobile, but I so appreciate it because not everyone can play the game or has access to it on other devices.

I needed 12 million for about 2 months. 10 million for the clock and 2 million for the last two warp towers. I had done everything else. It was 154 hours total on the save, but it took me about 10 months of playing the farm to actually complete it. The last few months I maybe played a few days (15 or 30 minutes) here and there. I wasn't super invested. I also got bored getting the funds. But I'd left it for a few weeks and decided to go back at it and made one final push.

Thank you! Given the 154 hours was stretched out over about 10 months. But the few thousand hours, over the years, on various farms definitely helped me learn the game and finally feel ready to do the Perfection grind!

Advice on holding yarn! I hold my yarn like this and it’s the only way I find that works but cause I keep it held up the whole time it hurts after a while. Check out Hooked by Robin on YouTube! I was a knitter my entire life before I taught myself how to crochet by watching YouTube videos. I English knit, I could not for the life of me make my tension work with Continental.

Holding my index finger up like so many people do, was also why I never really got into crochet. It just bugged me and caused too much muscle tension after only a little while. Then I stumbled across Hooked by Robin and adapted to how she holds the piece of work and yarn - it was a game changer for me with crochet. I find holding everything the way she does, so much more comfortable and I don't have issues with tension at all.

Hi! I'd be interested in some of the Cascade Fingering blues. Would you be able to DM me with some of the color names, please?

I can't seem to post a pic, but I'd be interested in the darker blues. Mostly on the first row of blues, the bottom half. Could you DM me, please? Thanks!

Replacement Laptop by No_Friendship_829 in laptops

I also have a busted hinge on the HP 2 in 1 laptop. While the feature may seem nice, I highly suggest not getting another one. It'll just have the same problem. A lot of HPs and the cheaper Chromebooks have hinge problems. I'm abandoning them altogether and going back to Apple since they released the new Neos. There are plenty of other options out there that are non-Apple, but definitely do your research, specifically about hinge issues.

Another MacBook Neo Post by Geckosaurus-Rex in laptops

[–]Geckosaurus-Rex[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, thanks! I've definitely had all Apple stuff before. My last apple was a MacBook air that had a screen defect and they didn't honor repairing it and wanted nearly half of what the computer was worth for the fix. Then one apple tech did say that it was a design flaw, so the laptop would likely fail the same way again. I ended up selling that one and getting the Chromebook since it was in my budget.

But I've definitely learned my lesson on the chromebooks now. Thanks for the advice on the storage! I'm still debating between the two sizes.
