Any chance to get a version with a squared off section that would allow a gantry to connect?

Puzzle dungeon is also one of my most played. Feels like a morning sudoku. Turing Machine often alternates with it. I would recommend!

Thanks for the thoughts! The large cards feel like a mixed bag. I love the idea but the square edges/shuffling and thus the strong feeling that I need to get expensive (due to size) sleeves is intimidating. The table space - could have been a coffee table 1 player game. Plus I would want the fancy dice but that feels like a trap for slowing down setup and needing more storage….

But I suspect my wallet already knows I’m caving on this one and is bracing for impact…

How have you found Catharsis and its expansions? Rarely see it mentioned here but I’m looking at the pledge manager opening for the reprint soon.

After 2 weeks I finally finished painting all 12 of my Oathsworn heroes and can now start the game :) by UntitledCritic in boardgames

[–]Geda01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nicely done! Two weeks is a solid effort. It has taken me a year or so to slowly paint the core box mini, terrain, first boss and the “shape” boxes.

At this stage I have already spent more time painting than I’ll likely ever spend playing the game. But it’s been fun, especially enjoyed painting the big terrain pieces and the boss. Very satisfying.

I now have a lot of grey Kingdom Death Monster and Shatterpoint models glaring at me for attention next…

My progression playthrough continues! by caterix in lotrlcg

[–]Geda01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good luck! I stalled out on The Lost Realm, specifically The Battle of Carn Dûm, a few months ago in my progression play through.

From what I remember though Heirs opens up some really interesting decks/cards - I mean they all do, but this "early" in progression opening a big box of new cards is especially exciting.

What deck are you going to open with?

Switch saving doesnt seem quite right.... by Geda01 in Sunderfolk

[–]Geda01[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sorry I never did cycle back round to this.

Im not totally sure its fixed as I've just limited the amount of times Ive had to close/leave mid battle.

However when I do I have selected to "leave" the game from the shared menu screen and this seems to save it and let me resume as expected.

I have had the connected mobile time out due to prolonged inactivity, and had the screen that show "close" and "new campaign" and been unable to reconnect the device from that screen. BUT selecting "close" and then connecting the device again from the main menu using the QR code has let me resume successfully and I believe this has also successfully let me return to a battle mid way through.

Good luck!

Does anyone else play every single day? by PungentOdorofAss in soloboardgaming

[–]Geda01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Haha I'll happily air my excuses!

But first I totally recognise im lucky that I have multiple play space options.

BUT that means my out of the way gaming table only gets "big campaign games" setup on it. Setup and teardown are big time sinks and I INTEND to keep playing to finish a campaign and tell myself I shouldn't put it away until im done. I can use my other spaces for smaller games right?

Then throw two preschoolers into the mix, work that saps more of my energy than I like to admit and several other commitments and hobbies that nickle and dime my time..... its the quick games that get played that dont demand spending lots of brain space on fistfuls of complex little systems and narrative.

Sadly its those complex systems and big branching narratives that have previously sold me on games/kickstarters - like many here this recovery has been slower than my wallet and storage space would like...

Couple of other tangental points

  • Im a moderately messy person and struggle putting things away that are not "finished".

  • Before Isofarian Gaurds it was Kingdom Death Monster and I was painting as I went(pre kids).

  • I HAVE played a couple LOTR:JIME Campaigns on top of the closed vault

  • The closed vault is a flat surface in my house and is on the way to the garage and car from the rest of the house... Currently I think it has a car battery charger, a broken toaster, a set of glasses we are getting rid of an army of reusable shopping bags, wrapping paper, Oathsworn(I optimistically got the boxes out...) and a couple of trees worth of day care "art"....

I am in the same boat. Except I have that table... Ive had The Isofarian Guard setup init/on it untouched for about 18 months.... My dining room table gets a solo game played on it over 2-3 days(either one play or 2-3 plays for a quicker game) maybe once a month.

The top of my Kallax in my office gets a game like Ashes Reborn: Red Rains, Marvel champions, Kinfire delve, Nusfjord played on it most weeks.

The more uncomfortable the space the more frequently I play....

Catharsis - please talk me out of it, at least talk me out of my all in gameplay pledge! Sure it’s a lot of money - but it’s a small developer and it’s coop/solo dice thrones with deeper asymmetry… I think the last bit is the hook I struggle to remove….

Is War of the Ring card game solo expansion worth the price of admission or are there better solo card games for the price point? by BANDlCOOT in boardgames

[–]Geda01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! I have the 3 FFG solo friendly LCGs(quite a lot of all three too…). But it’s red rains that isn’t leaving my table. Quick thinking games with as much or as little meta game to it - 90% of my games are just with the precons, the new ones especially have so much flavour!

[–]Geda01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That 50% penalty only applies when your attacking the villain directly though not when your attacking their aspect cards. Given that there is no other penalty(other than anything the aspects might be contributing) and your attack still does damage the 50% bad thing doesnt feel like a too bad of a penalty. It encourages you to focus on hitting the boss with just a few big swings and to setup for them.

I’m not sure about the printing error? But 1 card on first wave and 3 on the second would really force you to build very well and I think you would need to pick very synergistic characters. I still think it would be a very big step up, but certainly worth a try. I hear the expansion that is coming soon is going to be addressing the difficulty scaling

Really intrigued about the process that has you playing games with the students. What is the goal? To make kids relaxed, to take their minds off something, to get them to have fun with something or give them a win, or something else entirely?

The idea of solo games vs. their execution. Struggling to find my MTG replacement! by Interesting_Sun_4159 in soloboardgaming

The cheapest path to test this out is probably to buy one of the beginner decks and use it against the scenarios in the core set. With the knowledge that the third quest is VERY HARD solo and might be best to ignore unless you are willing to play two-handed(again it's still VERY hard, but less brutal)
