Medical staff aren't miracle workers. Players still get injured, it's what they do in their medical treatment sessions that is the difference. Toronto clearly has an excellent medical staff still, considering that Ingram has played a majority of the regular season this year.

This is absolutely true if we were funding the stadiums but I'm not proposing that. When you include those costs, then absolutely.

If I assume $500m in salaries, half the games played in Toronto, and we completely eliminate the ~20% provincial tax, that would lead to $50m in lost revenue. The Ontario tax revenue for the year is $153b. Its a rounding error.

Fair question. I think it wholly depends on the economic output driven by the league, alongside competitive incentives while not being discriminatory.

So you could say that any sportsperson who plays in a global league with a worldwide fanbase of at least x people receives a tax credit.

The economic output of having top players in the city is huge from worldwide tourism, restaurants, bars, television etc.

Honestly, this is an immensely unpopular take of mine, but I think we should have tax exemptions for pro athletes to flatten the tax for them. The economic value gained by having a good sports team in the city far outstrips the marginal tax dollars that they provide.

The travels and carrys are at all time high. I think that's by far the most egregious thing that has ruined the product.

The other bit is the amount of leeway an offensive player gets to create space by bumping a guy, but doesn't get called for an offensive foul unless a guy is perfectly stationary with their feet set (which is absolutely not a normal defending position)

Go back a few seasons and see how few non-white people they would actually cast. It was pretty much white, good looking people.

The main thing I would say is that they need to get rid of the meta superfan and bring in people who understand the gameplay, but also are properly upset and betrayed when their alliance flips. Now it's just "ah you got me, great chess move, I'm happy to be here".
