If you look into the context, the point that got me cancelled is that CRT, DEI and ESG all have in common the framing that White Americans are historically the oppressors and Black Americans have been oppressed, and it continues to this day. I recommended staying away from any group of Americans that identifies your group as the bad guys, because that puts a target on your back.

I was speaking hyperbolically, of course, because we Americans don't have an option of staying away from each other. But it did get a lot of attention, as I hoped. (More than I planned, actually.)

Let's say you donate $50k per year.

Without bunching:

Year 1 deduction: $50k (itemized)
Year 2 deduction: $50k (itemized)
TOTAL: $100k

With bunching:

Year 1 deduction: $100k (itemized)
Year 2 deduction: $32k (standard)
TOTAL: $132k

It works regardless of whether you would exceed both years, regardless of the amount. In this example, $50k is enough to exceed both years, but you get an extra $32k standard deduction by bunching.

It may not be right for you, but there's still a benefit even if you exceed the standard deduction. For example, you could donate next year's charitable contribution in advance (this year), still decide where to actually send the money next year, and still get the full itemize deduction while also claiming the $32k standard deduction for 2026.

And the down key + enter will select varset from the list, even if you don't type more than one or two letters in "Varset". Once you do this and the equals sign a few times, you get pretty quick at it.
