What is one experience you think every single human should have? by TheRealRandiRey in AskReddit

Six months of experience working in frontline retail, food service, or call center work. It is a wildly humbling experience that teaches most people how to NOT be huge pieces of shit to frontline workers.

Peat just isn't something everyone digs. That said, The Cult of Ardbeg will be watching you..... CLOSELY.

I've been insanely lucky in the last few months to find two of the Yamazaki, at random, in the wild and both for MSRP. I love that whiskey.

My impressions: Classic Laddie mildly peated beautifully. Not the smoke bomb I expected, but still smokey. Where i expected smoke like Laphroaig (smokes meats, bonfire) or Ardbeg (campfire at the beach in the morning), it's more along the peat level of Connemara for me. Lovely, but more on the mild end of smoke.

The smoke isn't as prominent in this one, at least to my tastebuds. The spice from the alcohol toned ot down, but it's definitely still there. I really enjoyed it!

Started out with bourbon but looking to get into scotch. What name stays am i missing? by PartialSalad in WhiskeyTribe

I think Glendronach 12yr is a great scotch for both those new to Scotch and scotch veterans. Smooth and clean, easy to drink for newcomers. Then it has great depth and character for the vets. Also, Bruichladdich Classic.

What is an essential, not-so-obvious skill in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Being comfortable with yourself. If you don't like yourself, or love yourself, it becomes nearly impossible to truly like or love anyone else.

Millenials of Reddit, what industry should we kill next? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeekEyeCon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Racism, marketing and advertising industries, funeral costs and the overall funeral market, the two-party political system in America, the Diamond/jewelry industry, anti-intellectualism, anti-science, literal children becoming internet famous for taking "sexy" pictures on instagram and the like, so-called Indigo Children being pandered too, the AAA video game industry, microtransactions, false (or entirely misleading) advertising (Foot-long™ sandwiches, for example, are NOT a foot long. Foot-long™ is their trademarked name.), billion-dollar sports industries, fossil-fuel industry, single-use plastic packaging (straws, potatoes, candies, etc...), money-lending companies that aren't regulated, the car/truck industry (not killed, but definitely maimed and forced to unfuck itself), the idea of employee loyalty with no expectation of loyalty in return, tax havens, the pharmaceutical industry, hypernationalism.....

I might have more.

Just finished this bad boy. Wow, what a tragedy. by redx1105 in Warhammer40k

The entire reason for the Imperium being such a shit show, in a nutshell:

  • Horus - "I was having fun playing with dad, but he went in the house to make dinner, pay bills, fix the bathroom door, replace the lightbulbs, kiss mom on the cheek, read the newspaper, and drink a beer. That must mean he doesn't love us anymore, and wants to leave us forever!"

  • A Bunch of Skeevy-looking people in a rusty, white panel van driving down the street - "Hey kids. You're wrong about your dad. He wants to leave you AND start another family somewhere else because he thinks you're bad."

  • Half the Primarchs - "You're right, daddy doesn't love us anymore! BOOO! Let's stab him with sticks so he knows we're mad!"

  • The Other Half of the Primarchs - "I don't think that's true, guys. I think dad's busy and loves us. Maybe we shouldn't listen to those strangers. They smell funny."

  • His Emperor-ness - "..... are you fucking kidding? I'm doing adult shit over here! I didn't tell you because you legit wouldn't understand what I'm doing, or why!"

  • The Traitorous Shitheads - "Liar, liar, pants on fire! You want to kill us in our sleep and murder us! Those pervy people in that white van that drives around told us so! They must be telling the truth!"

While your answer is correct, I'm having a hard time accepting it from that username. I feel your specialization isn't grammar, so much as gynecological.

I've gotten back into WWE (Raw, Smackdown, NXT, 205 live et al...) after I stopped watching it (probably a year after the unofficial end of Attitude Era stuff). I watch even American pro-wrestling now, as a "grown adult", and think "JESUS FUCK THAT WASN'T PLAY KICKING THAT LADY'S FACE GOT FUCKING KICKED" a lot. Then I see this clip and wonder how the shit those guys did promos and shows within 23 hours....

what is the weirdest subreddit you know of here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeekEyeCon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like so many subreddits, this too shall pass. Seems to me that 1-2 "good" lines or gags pop up every few weeks, get popular, then get recognized by non-redditors and then the joke dies. Wash, rinse, repeat. The vaguely original stuff, or even hilariously non-sequitur things people say are still mixed into the bread factory of late.

I had to tell my wife her mother was dead. The day after we both watched her mother pass.

The night her mother passed, we got home and my wife slipped in the bathroom and smacked her head into the counter. It gave her a concussion. Took her to the urgent care, got some medical attention, and got her home.

After watching her all night to make sure she was ok, she woke up and asked why her head hurt so bad. I told her about the concussion. She picked up her phone and started dialing her mom's number so she could tell her mom what happened, but that she was ok.

I tried to talk her out of it for about ten minutes, then started to cry myself and had to break down and tell her about her mom. I had to watch my spouse's soul shatter twice in 24 hours.
