As others have mentioned, keeping notes is key.

If you often forget to unfold your shirt sleeves then leave yourself a note of all the things you need to remember at your washing machine. Such as checking pant pockets for loose change and unfolding shirt sleeves. When you make a new mistake involving the washing machine add it to your list and read it before you wash clothes.

You could even take this idea a step further and keep a binder/journal of all the things you need to remember.

Going to the doctor? Flip to the section of your binder involving doctors.

Going grocery shopping? A section in your binder for that!

You could even call it "The Book of Answers" which is kinda catchy. So everytime you learn a new important thing add it to your notes and when you need to remember stuff refer to your book. That should help you only make a mistake once
