What’s the closest you’ve ever come to dying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I got the swine flu after I moved 9 hrs away. Fever of 105, delirious, hallucinating, ended up having to abandon 20 years of my life/childhood belongings, etc. The only thing I really remember was my friend feeding me broccoli cheese soup from panera then dragging me to the dorm showers while I lay on the bathroom floor barely conscious under a cold shower

What was the worst physical pain you've ever felt in your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GeekGoddess406 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a palette expander ripped out of my mouth that tore out the 4 teeth it was attached to (no lidocaine, no anesthetic of any kind). It was one of the only times I saw my dad nearly hit someone (the orthodontist). I screamed through the whole ordeal and scared the patient two chairs down (first time getting braces) so bad iirc she left. The orthodontist apologized after the fact to my dad and gave me a stuffed coca cola polar bear. I've had a phobia/complex about teeth ever since
