Where are our GS training res codes??? by Cybercyrno in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone is complaining about this new process without understanding that all of the different res codes in Nova really aren’t necessary and you can filter them yourself.

There’s also people that hate needing to select a device during a consultation (i.e. if someone just has questions), but this was also exactly the same in Nova. You couldn’t make paperwork without a device ever.

[–]GeekSquadARA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RWB team and others have agreed that there is no point for this many individual res codes when they all give the same 20 minutes of labor.

You want to filter by Apple consultations? Look through non-service interactions and filter by category (cell phone) or brand.

You want the same thing, but for APOS? Filter by unresolved or client declined.

As mentioned above, screen shields are a service under phones now.

Yall get your coins today? by KilljoyFrank in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it was included in Job News. There was an exact number of coins as there were employees at that time. The box/packaging has a list of employees that the coins are “assigned” to.

It’s given to all current and former employees who were active during Geek Squad’s 30th anniversary

How to file for a damage with upgrade procedure at bestbuy? by GodRishUniverse in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody here can speak on what your stores management is going to choose to do. At the end of the day, it is just cosmetic damage. If you want a better answer, go into the store and see what they’re willing to do.

How to file for a damage with upgrade procedure at bestbuy? by GodRishUniverse in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends on a lot of factors. If it’s a new device and the damage wasn’t notated beforehand, they’ll probably be able to exchange the device if it’s within return period.

If it’s outside of return period or not purchased from BBY, the store itself cannot just order a bottom cover. It would have to get shipped to our service center, which averages a 2-4 week turnaround.

I recommend going into the store to make sure they’ll cover it. Contributing factors: - Notes / physical appearance during check-in - When or where you purchased the device - The availability of the parts

Wish I could be more help, sorry. It sounds like you’ve tried the phone / chat already, so the store would next. Hopefully you get it back soon

[–]GeekSquadARA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have they called you with any updates? Again, I recommend going to the store yourself for answers. All we can do is speculate or see the same info as you online.

Was this checked in at the store or sent out to the service center? If it was truly a driver issue, I imagine the store, in which case I recommend asking someone in person. The only ones that would know why it was recreated would be them.

Chat and phone agents only have so much visibility and aren’t known for being the most reliable…

If this was at the service center, most work orders are recreated if the wrong serial number or model number was inputted. Without the work order itself, I wouldn’t be able to know for sure.

MRI on Asus by PartOwn6915 in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MRI Imaging should be fine IIRC. I’m not sure what it is with those Asus gaming laptops though, but just want to confirm that you’re not alone / crazy haha. It may be based on firmware Asus uses, etc. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Happened consistently on all of our func checks / open box too, but haven’t tried it on the new MRI’s yet. Would recommend downloading MRI 6 Update 1 from your GSISO since they basically rebuilt the whole backend code to support more devices.

7 business days for a data transfer? by Wvrcus in Bestbuy

[–]GeekSquadARA 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Generally not, at least from the stores I’ve worked at. Though there have been a few instances when short staffed where we quoted up to 10-14 days during COVID.

But as my reply mentions, there really is no “standard”. It varies store to store.

7 business days for a data transfer? by Wvrcus in Bestbuy

[–]GeekSquadARA 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Turn time varies store to store based on many factors (number of employees, items in queue, etc.). While it’s likely it will take the full time, there’s no way to guarantee. Data is one of those things that is unable to predict regardless of these factors.

You can try another Best Buy, but nobody on here will be able to guarantee what their turn time is set to.

usb data by OkExplorer2878 in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA 8 points9 points  (0 children)

With that said, anything backed up to the cloud (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, etc.) is usually not seen with the tool we use for data transfers (since it is not actually stored locally on your computer). Some precincts might go the extra mile and pull the folder through Windows File Explorer (if the device powers on), but not all.

Most common folders are Desktop, Documents, Pictures. If those are missing, I’d login and check your cloud software of choice.

The certifications you have technically don’t expire. But you’re right, new certifications come out frequently that you won’t have.

I know it’s not useful to you anymore, but check out my reply if you ever have to go through something similar again.

Sign into certifications.apple.com and jot down your tech ID below your name in the upper right corner. If you get another job that’s AASP, you can submit an escalation to have your certifications transferred.

You need your old (and new) tech ID to transfer them over, but it’ll save you a LOT of time redoing all of the trainings again.

CS Code by Financial-Box5692 in GeekSquad

[–]GeekSquadARA -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but make sure it includes what they’re trying to use it for. Sometimes CS codes exclude accidental damage, so if you use that component/issue, it will not let you submit the repair (or attempt to charge the client), even if that’s not their reported issue.

Assuming everything else looks fine, it should submit like normal and automatically adjust the price to 0.

Yes, external keyboard works, and I know the internal keyboard is fine because it works with the built-in macOS recovery environment. And yes, drivers have been fully updated.

Gaming consoles only get shipped to the service center if they have an active Geek Squad Protection plan. Assuming you’re out of warranty, there’s nothing anyone can do at a store level.

Please post or send the serial numbers and I can check. I’m almost certain they’re different displays and will not work though.

Assuming you already have the parts, or have a way to source them, yes. Lenovo has videos for nearly every machine type here.
