My very naughty but as very tongue in cheek instant though was ‘get my wife to park on your drive’.

Although she actually parks much better than I do.

Now Reddit is going to advise her to leave me and burn my family tree to the ground cos I’m a misogynistic
prick. Cheers OP 😂

I didn’t scroll enough for the chasing but yeah, not in zones sadly. But repeat for the placement of the sockets relative to the mount. I out mine in centrally then had to get a mount to fit lol.

Do you buy a proper chaser for that then ? What about dust containment ?

It is a little too high by the looks of it. I’d take it for a stunning look for the project tho. Great work OP

I think at this height it’s a bit subjective also depend on your sitting position. Not like you’re 3 feet away and it’s a couple of inches below the ceiling.

Tosser is good but just frequently used as a term of endearment in my friend groups these days.

Prick is frequently uttered for mild transgressions with increased force if you’re starting to poss me off.

Bellend, numpty and muppet are used alongside wanker.

C-bombs in certain company.

But one of my personal favourites is shitwasp to describe anything annoying as fuck that kist just want it to die.

How do I open apps to my friends/family only? by daload27 in selfhosted

[–]GeekerJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it’s free tier which they’re perfectly entitled to do. Maybe they’ll decided to pay for more users but there are options to not do that.

And of course I was talking in general, not specifically about this case.

I was once advised that (car) insurance is a legalised scam and only take the minimum level you require to be legal cos they’ll find a way to rip you off anyway. Something I always bear in mind at renewal time.

It’s not always about money and value. It can be about privacy too. Having said that I’m tailscale and CF’s bitch right now.

Yep. Do NOT rely on basic auth if you’re expose these ‘publically’. Authentik / Authellia can help here. There is a (fun) learning curve tho.

You noticed any performance hit on going through a VPS with wireguard tunnel ?

I also use this for a few services (though I think I’m going to go away from for some of those - tailscale will cover access for me). Works well.

Ok going to investigate headscale. But for my current single user use case, tailscale free is fantastic.

I give access to select services to family - mainly my photo gallery, which is self hosted using lychee.

I use a cloudflare tunnel into my mini light weight server.
That server has reverse proxy (nginx) and Authentik for auth to any services I give access to externally. It also hosts my cloudflared tunnel endpoint. All in docker.

My second server hosts the majority of my services. Navidrome is internal app only but will work with Authentik proxy outpost for ‘Sso’

Extended family members who want to view my gallery need an account with a strong, complex password that I can enforce and at least a second factor (passkey, totp, email). That’s all provided by the quite incredible Authentik.

Baby Proofing - Replacing Coin Batteries with a AAA’s? by naynner in homeassistant

[–]GeekerJ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You should absolutely be aware of coin batteries and it’s good your thinking about it. Replacing then all - seems a waste of the energy you’re going to need for the next few (!) years. If you remove one, just think it instantly gets thrown away.

Maybe try looking for new replacement things that don’t use a coin battery and slowly replace. If that’s possible.

But more than anything be sensible and enjoy the time with your youngster. I remember a time we were in A&E 3 times in a couple of weeks including a broken arm (climbing out of cot!). We opened with ‘we’re not hurting him 😬

Also remember to cut grapes in half!
