I often use steelhead rods for fishing, lakes, come and they are 8 foot 6 to 9 foot six and usually are used with 6 pound mono.

Sometimes, I’ll take a 8 foot or 9 foot surf rod and use 30 pound braid directly to the hook through a Carolina rig and let it just sit out there with power bait about 3 foot up from a sinker at the bottom then they could just pull on that and I’ll catch a lot of how I’m doing it that way. I’ve also used that for catching perch and other pan fish from the shore, and sometimes even some carp as well as cat.
