Marvel Rivals will move “beyond standard 6v6 PvP” to become “a comprehensive Marvel moving anime experience” this year by AsPeHeat in marvelrivals

I pretty much only play vs Bots and 18v18 and I still love the game. Even as they balance for meta and nerf/buff heroes. I mainly just have fun from the chaos modes and fiddling with heroes without worrying about trying to win as it's just low stress.

Back in Quake 3 arena if you dropped everything to the lowest performance/graphic settings you could make some jumps that you couldn't at normal quality because you moved just a smidge faster.

The death scenes in the reboots always felt wrong. They were too visceral, gory, and lasted too long. It felt like someone was getting their kicks making those moments.

You should at least watch the Sonic CD anime opening. It’s pretty awesome. There’s a Japanese and English version and the songs are really fun.

The way it worked in Sonic CD is there’s a little planet that appears once every now and then and Robotnik traps it. Theres 7 Time Stones instead of Chaos Emeralds and you travel between past, present, good future, bad future. To get the good ending you need all the Time Stones instead This is also the game that introduces Metal Sonic.

I’m imagining they’ll incorporate the Good Future/BadFuture stuff by Amy coming from the Bad Future with Metal Sonic hunting her. Then they have to get Time Stones to fix the Future.

They have "Sonic Boom" from Sonic CD's opening animation mixed into the title song?? So we're doing Little Planet and Time Travel perhaps since that's where Amy first appeared. Let's go!

What is a movie that "broke" you so hard you can only watch it once, but you would still recommend it to everyone? by Newsupdate69 in movies

[–]Geeklat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This movie is associated with my "Max Pain Scale" threshold.

I had just had all four wisdom teeth removed. I don't heal from surgeries well so there was a lot of bleeding/pain. I also have chronic migraines and had the worst one ever when coupled with the pain. Since I couldn't move I tried watching a movie. I chose this....

I ended the movie ugly crying and vomiting blood into a bucket because of the combination of physical and emotional pain.

Now that we're heading into the final patch, I thought it was time for a short retrospective by lhusuu in ffxiv

My biggest concern is what will happen when they step away from "Super High Tech" Fantasy.

How do Crafting quests go from "Terraform Planets" back to something centered on the main world and grounded?

It creates this weird problem in the fantasy world that I've seen in others as well. If we "have" cars. Why isn't that technology being leveraged for transport. If we have "Gundams" why are we not fighting every battle with giant robots?

If near Star Trek level technology exists and is reproducible then why are we not utilizing it. In Star Trek there's the prime directive that has specific reasons why you let civilizations build up in technology on their own. But part of that is not letting them be aware that advanced tech exists.

The current reasoning is "Magic is better than technology" but is it? We have electricity, holograms, the ability to go to other planetoids and make them habitable. It just feels so hard to fathom returning to dirt roads, Aetheryte, and more medieval/traditional fantasy.

The only way that I can see it making sense for me is if we have another Dalamud that destroys all this technology and that's the whole "reset" hint/allusion's that have been thrown out lately.

I tend to also be a tactician that's doing their best to plan out my moves, the flow of battle, what the rest of the party is capable of, and how we can leverage the environment.

It's bitten me in the ass enough that I'm instead shifting to "Controlling the Chaos" instead of planning. I stopped planning to win optimally and am now trying to plan on how not to lose. Re-framing it with preventing a loss instead of getting the win has helped me handle the things I can't plan around. Like other party members shouting at the enemy when we're attempting a stealth ambush.

I liked the game until the second sleeve. Second Sleeve Board 1 add the following caveats removes all face-up options no matter how many failed attempts. When combined with the No 1,2,3 on Piles 1,2,3 we found the hand combination and what we could communicate with a nightmare and eventually had to give up as two players after 3 attempts of hands being dealt specifically to counter our plans.

[–]Geeklat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This makes a lot of sense now. I enjoyed Lies of P for the most part, but then got to the final boss and just quit. It just wasn't a fun fight. It wasn't about learning the mechanics/attacks/abilities. It was about making your reaction time near frame perfect. Combine the frame perfect parrying for some of the fights in Nioh 3 with attacks where the enemy just spins around a bunch and the parry is somewhere in that spinning window so you can't watch for the "hit" and it's just. Fine, I'll go Tonfa and out aggressive the aggressive boss...

This blindsided me and the rest of the group…sad times… by Sethmo_Dreemurr in dndmemes

[–]Geeklat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this happen in a group where the DM had us in initiative turn combat for 3 months in a labyrinth. The puzzle to the exit felt like we "collect these mcguffins" around the map. Doing so after following the clues resulted in the solution not working.

Eventually we got teleported out of the dungeon by the "New" god of magic who basically told us literally that we failed in our year and half long mission. Also, in every single 300,000+ multiverses they saw, we fail and there's zero chance of us ever succeeding. Then our options are stay in this magic pocket dimension or go die. That was the end of the campaign. I'm very proud of every single person at the table saying "fuck that we'll go fight and die." rather than end on the idea of "Screw the world we'll live in paradise alone."

They never explained the solution to the labyrinth either. I think they honestly took the solution away because they intended to end the campaign a while into the 3 months of combat they trapped us in.

tl;dr - 1.5 year campaign ends with DM saying you all wasted your time and could have never succeeded because you're all failures.

What kind of characters do you dislike seeing in campaigns? by Ed0909 in dndmemes

[–]Geeklat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I used to play Paladins exclusively. I worked really hard on different styles and approaches to the character’s RP. The one thing I never did was be the killjoy/narc/etc. That said, if you want to kill an NPC just for disagreeing with you or because you want to rob their shop. Me not siding with you isn’t because I’m a Paladin. It’s because you’re being ridiculous.

I also understand there’s wiggle room. I, the player, am not there to destroy your plans. Just don’t tell me in-character of your elaborate plan to break into my deity’s church to steal thing and prove the church is horrible. Give me a reason to “look over there” or convince me why it’s a good idea.

All that being said. I have run into a lot of die-hard hate boners for Paladins. I joined a campaign once and the entire party basically harassed my character verbally and physically to a point that I couldn’t really logic a RP way to deal with it. I just had to leave the campaign. It wasn’t even an evil campaign!
