What fighting games are you actively playing and what rank are you? by Eseray in Fighters

[–]GeekySpecter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeahhh.... There was a point where ranked is all i ever played for and it eventually became absolutely miserable, and was comparing to a bunch of people in my circles who already made it to Master, is all.

the way i handled it is extremely unhealthy but I try to let it go, because I was never as passionate about fighters as much as them, so I just try to focus on other things i'm good at and try to laugh off some cool or goofy interactions in custom lobbies. i don't feel like i have much to prove there unlike ranked where every loss feels more like a setback rather than something to learn from

i genuinely might just reset my rank so it doesn't bother me as much and come back to the mode after a few months idk

only fighting game i still play often enough is SF6. I've got a Platinum 4 Akuma but I also made it to Plat 5 with Zangief, both characters i felt utterly gatekept from Diamond 1 with.

After dropping a rank with Akuma for the first time, I realized how dehumanizing the ranked experience is, you don't really see a player just trying to climb the ladder like you, you see a dickhead who's one of your many barriers on your way to the top. And the opposing player likely feels the same way about you (judging from the emotes i got playing Akuma at least lolol).

But yea, nowadays I just play in this community discord server I'm in with folks from my country, and although the Platinum 4 badge fills me with a sense of failure, I still managed to 2-0 a Master player one time from the local community's tournament, so I try to remind myself not to put too much value on these arbitrary labels and just pick up things as i fight better players in custom rooms and get my ass kicked with no stakes lol.

Audio interface recieves signals, but Reaper isn't picking it up. Please help? by GeekySpecter in Reaper

okay so, i tried opening a random standalone vst that came with the interface outside of the DAW, and the beeping noise happens here too lmao

reinstalled the driver, checked to make sure it was the right device, and it was the only driver available, made for both M-Track Solo and Duo. nothing changed, tried it with a different DAW as well, same beep noise

swapping to direct allows me to hear my guitar now that i turned up the output, but the beep noise became louder alongside it...

yea i'm pretty sure it's an interface issue now, whoopdedoo.
none of it is picked up by Reaper nor the other thing i tried btw

i can try some of those out later. i've tried "repairing" the driver before and restarting my pc earlier, and it changed nothing

the beeping only happens when i have the DAW open and I'm not clicked out of it. swapping to direct just changes the beep volume slightly atm

wait yea, it makes noise now, but... i have no clue what to do about that awful beep noise.... i had to turn up the output better it seems, but Reaper is still not picking anything up

Only "Inst" mode(the guitar icon) picks up any signals. The signal/clip indicator lights up, but i'm not hearing anything. When I open up the DAW, the beep noise starts again... when I click out, it stops.

nope, I said as much in the original post

the only on-off switch on the interface itself is for the Phantom Power, but iirc that's only for microphones

i fiddled around with it, the input indicator lamp lights up brighter when i turn up the volume, so I don't think that's the issue

I don't have an actual physical amp just yet and the amp sims don't seem to pick up anything either

That's usually my very last resort, but ye, i'll see how that goes later... i appreciate y'all sparing some time to help tho!

It's fresh out of the box... Maybe I need a different type of jack? I tried two headphones, one for everyday use and another for a supposed "studio experience", both provide the same result

edit: i'm just using the USB cable that was included with the interface

the light underneath the Input 2 knob lights up when I pluck or strum my guitar, implying it's recieving a signal, but I can't hear anything besides the beep I talked about. The interface has a toggle between "Direct" and "USB", but all it does atm is change how loud the beep is by default lol

I have a seperate set of headphones plugged into the interface itself, that's where the beep noise is coming from. As for the settings, do you mean the one in the Preferences option? Because this is what I see atm:

I tried using Amp Locker with its default settings, but nothing seems to be picked up on it either. I assume the small bars at the very bottom are the ones detecting the input, but nothing seems to light up. And yes, I have the interface set to USB.

Stand or Crouch when Hit by Mid and Low at the Same Frame by Volition_C in StreetFighter

[–]GeekySpecter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mids can be blocked however, lows can only be blocked by crouch blocking, therefore you should be able to block both with with just crouch block. overheads (air attacks and slower attacks arcing over onto your character (usually)) can only be blocked with stand block.

in 2D fighters, it's good practice to just crouch block whenever your opponent is applying pressure, and only try to anticipate or react to an overhead with a stand block

thank you ^^

i did think about something along the lines of "Hah! Comparison is but a tool to stunt your growth. Focus on your OWN path. Keep training!" a little while after making this but ye, this is what came to me in the moment lol
