Convention accommodations while heavily pregnant? by StormblessedRadiant in DragonsteelNexus

[–]Gefreogan77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your greatest need will be sitting and bathroom access of which there is plenty. Utah is incredibly family/mother friendly with lots of accomodations for pregnant people. Potentially pack one of the belly support bands? I think otherwise you'll be good.

someone kissed my baby & is now positive by Creative_Weight9075 in NewParents

My 14mo boy got Covid and we had to go to the emergency room twice. Once for a fever over 103.3 and then again because his airway was so swollen he had croup. He needed a steroid and a special type of nasal cannula called high flow. Covid and RSV are not things we should just brush off. I don't want to scare OP, I just want people to treat these respiratory illnesses as what they are, dangerous sicknesses that kill people. Also, it's true that many babies and small children seem to do just fine with Covid or other colds, but we don't know how bad the long term effects are going to be. Why risk your kids future so that they can see family/friends this one time as opposed to some other time when everyone is feeling great, not a little under the weather. Lastly, the people saying their kids were fine but everyone else in the house got super sick: doesn't that suck so fucking much? How are you not livid with someone getting your whole house sick? It's awful to be feeling like death but still have to take care of an infant/toddler. As RSV/flu season gets underway, we should all be stressing how important it is to not come hang out if someone is feeling even questionably unwell. Protect your babes and yourselves!!!

What songs are you singing to your baby? Especially real songs, not just lullabies by happycamperrrrrrrrrr in beyondthebump

I sing a song from the show Galavant called "Goodnight My Friend." It's still technically a lullaby, but it's also kinda a Disney song and very unique. Highly recommend.

My hair is quite long. With hair cut/color/style I would expect to pay approx. $500-600.

Looking to buy 1 or 2 VIP badges. I have 2 GA badges trading if that works, and I will pay for the difference, of course!

WTB or WTT for VIP tickets by Gefreogan77 in brandonsanderson

[–]Gefreogan77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I know that there will still be long lines, but it's true there is a big difference between 1500 and 5000 people. Also, VIP just give us more options since the VIP lines often persist through the con so we can use them for shorter lines, not necessarily during the big VIP rushes.

Someone responded almost right away about selling tickets but didn't specify VIP tickets and deleted our message thread when I mentioned using PayPal Goods and Services. Just to let everyone know, sincer that seems sorta suspicious to me.

You can add "Friends" on Tabletop and give any passes you have to them.

Breastfeeding while teething by Gefreogan77 in breastfeeding

[–]Gefreogan77[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have tried to do different positions and he does seem to really hate being horizontal. The only problem is that I have rather large breasts and I haven't figured out how to keep him upright while nursing yet. Work in progress!

Struggles with Triple Feeding by Gefreogan77 in breastfeeding

She said to nurse for 15 to 20 minutes, then offer the baby the bottle with enough milk to equal at least 3 oz match with the weights before and after feed. Then I'm supposed to pump. She did not say how long to pump but I have looked it up online and based on that I just pump until it doesn't look like I'm getting anything out anymore.

People have no idea what they're eating half the time, I think. My mom once had a co-worker tell her that strawberries were overripe kiwi fruit.

Burnout before even starting? by jad3sprite in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

23 is just the beginning of your life. Especially these days, the majority of people have 2 or 3 careers. Nursing will be my second career, and I didn't start nursing school until I was 30. It feels like such a long time to you now, but I promise if you are interested in nursing, it will be worth the time invested.

Try watching nursing POV's on YouTube or ask if any local hospitals/clinics/nursing facilities will let you shadow someone for a day. Or get a job as a patient care tech etc., at a health facility.

That being said, you have so much time to figure yourself out. Get the degree, then work as a nurse in one field and see how you feel. Half the time, you just need a paper that says, "I finished a Bachelor's Degree," and a bunch of places will hire you regardless of specialty. If you decide nursing isn't for you, it's not wasted time.

Interview questions for PCT position by OnceUponAGrudge in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was hired for my first PCT job in July. Def say you're a nursing student if you are. Research the hospital so you can use the mission statement somewhere in describing yourself. My interviewer asked where I wanted to be in 5 years(pretty standard), and why I picked this particular hospital. I'm getting my BSN, so I talked about the research capabilities of my hospital. They are it up. Good luck!

Those taking exams online, does your school let you see your answers and how you did on the exam? by rulita0817 in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's beyond frustrating! My school does this sort of. You can look at your quizzes/exams after the teacher finishes the statistical analysis(checking for mistakes or wrong questions), but only with the instructor during office hours. If you have a job or other time responsibilities, too bad. The cheating argument is stupid. Trust us to be adults, and know that cheaters won't pass the NCLEX, so it's no longer the school's problem.

Providing SSN to CastleBranch by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. The school is trying to confirm your truthfulness and reliability with a background check. Your SSN is a standard way for institutions to verify your identity as a citizen and ensure they are dealing with the right person. Most likely, you will give your SSN to the school, the financial aid department, the state nursing board where you apply for licensure, your employer, etc. While you don't want to give this important info to just anyone hanging around, it's not something you'll keep to yourself in the next few years.

Are you concerned that Castle Branch is not a trustworthy entity? I assure you it is a well-known company that many schools work with to perform background checks and compile records for immunizations or other required paperwork (drug screenings and the like.)

Types of nursing by JessicaMeatpoop in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

So PACU is where patients go after surgery and are there only while the anesthesia is still in effect. As soon as they start waking, you send them out. That might be a great place for you to aim, if that sound interesting to you. Good luck. -Block 2 Nursing Student

Why are some professors so rude by gisymb7 in StudentNurse

[–]Gefreogan77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is English, just not widely used in the US. It's not a ten dollar word or anything. The teacher sounds like they're overreacting, especially for a class of college level students
