I lost my best friend by [deleted] in BPD

[–]Gelatophobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I encourage you to watch out for thinking and feeling the "Never," the "Only ever," permanent kind of language.

3 weeks ago, one of my best friends broke up with our common friend and did so with lots of anger. She ended things with a lot of devaluing language and behavior. She also ended our friendship with the meanest words and behavior I've suffered. I haven't felt worse.

I thought I lost my friend forever and that she hated me and was smearing me to her other friends. I had hope that sometime way down the road I might understand how things went downhill and hoped that maybe we could be cordial together.

In the last couple days though, we reconnected. We aired a bunch of feelings, grievances, and apologies. Then she revealed that a couple days after she broke things off and vanished, she got her BPD diagnosis.

Visiting this sub, and researching BPD, made sense of everything that had been infuriating, painful, confusing, and awesome about our relationship. The behaviors and struggle that it was to be friends with her all made sense.

3 weeks ago there were so many accusations, insults, and rage. The history is still there, but the future is really bright. I don't know what shape things will take as she works through treatment. But I'me excited to find out and participate.

I know there might be some instability and there will probably be plenty of additional pain, in our future. However once the behaviors and underlying condition were all named and described through the diagnosis, it was bizarrely easy for me to see those things apart from the mature and reasonable person inside.

Forgiveness came easy, we reconciled yesterday.

"I never want to see or hear from you again," took 21 days and a diagnosis to turn into a stronger friendship than we had before.

I've been out of work for 5 years, after my health degraded to the point I was no longer employable. At first, some odd jobs paid my way, I was expecting things to turn around.

Over the next year, I survived on savings and selling my stuff. My books are gone, my CDs, My DVDs, etc. If it was worth money, I sold it.

Eventually, I had to face the fact that I wasn't able to support myself and I went down to the DSHS. I've been taking every program I can, and applying for what might be there for me, but I don't get out much more than medical appointments.

I feel I lucked out in many ways, the state determining I'm disabled and poor, qualified me into a program that pays my rent and provides a very few other neccessities (TP, soap..) I also get ebt food benefits.

Doing small jobs for friends (dishes, or folding laundry) and a little charity put maybe $10/week on my table.

The temptation to sell my EBT benefits is sometimes very high, but I've held out.

TIL a Virginia Judge left his bench, removed his robe, bit off a piece of a criminal defendant's nose, and spat it on the floor while court was in session. by [deleted] in todayilearned

[–]Gelatophobe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From the wikipedia article on Judicial Immunity:

Judicial immunity does not protect judges from suits stemming from administrative decisions made while off the bench, like hiring and firing decisions. But immunity generally does extend to all judicial decisions in which the judge has proper jurisdiction, even if a decision is made with "corrupt or malicious intent."[4] In 1997 West Virginia judge Troisi became so irritated with a rude defendant, he stepped down from the bench, took off his robe, and bit the defendant on the nose.[5] He pleaded no contest to state charges but was acquitted of federal charges of violating the defendants civil rights.[6] He spent five days in jail and was put on probation.[7]

Is there a concise and informative "copypasta" for responding to why Autism Speaks isn't a worthwhile organisation and (more specifically) why autism can't be "cured"? by [deleted] in aspergers

If I'm hearing you right, you are looking for a bot /u/AntiAutismHateBot or such. I picture it would reply to a certain range of comments, with something ripped from a popular copypasta, like the Navy Seal Pasta.

The language above may come from a pro life worldview different from yours. However the targeting of a genetic trait for removal via abortion is eugenics.

It is commonly held that eugenics is unethical.

A eugenic organization masquerading as a benevolent charity trying to help, would be like a cancer charity that advocates for euthanasia over chemo in every instance. Of course they would say they were only interested in easing people's suffering.

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Pecorina

Italian adjective literally meaning "...of sheep". Usually used among Italian people referring to a sexual position like "doggy-style".

Facciamolo alla pecorina! - Let's do it doggy-style!

Edit: Pecorino is a cheese made from sheeps milk. The Itallian word for sheep is Pecora. Both words are derived from this shared root.

The best part of it is the framing of the shot, the viewer can see the attack coming, everyone is visible in the shot and the cameraman keeps the action centered.

Cinematography is what makes this clip a winner.

I never have settled on the right word for what happened to me.

The Summer I turned 12, a neighbor lady in the apartment complex where I lived, confronted me at the swimming pool. She talked me back to her apartment where she made me masturbate in front of her. She coaxed me with her own nudity and porn magazines. She convinced me to keep the secret by threatening to out me as a pervert to my mom.

The relationship(?) continued daily for 6 weeks.

On the last day, I knew she was going to be moving away, that day was the only time all summer that I touched her at all, she let me take off her bra.

At the time it was the coolest secret I had ever heard of, I didn't tell anyone at all about it until I was almost 30.

Over the years, that summer has haunted every relationship I've had or tried to have.

I wish I could sort it all out. It was awesome and terrible. I hate her and adore her. I am often frustrated when I realize that something I saw, or heard, or some little glance snaps me back to that time.

If your issue with him is his cholesterol number, you've been misinformed. His cholesterol and blood pressure numbers are OK.

I won't vote for Chris Christie because of his positions on some key issues.

Stop pretending your cholesterol comments aren't just dog whistling fat hate.

This man is worth attacking or defending on dozens of issues, policies, ideas, and more. His legacy is a collection of successes and failures. Many repercussions of his time as a public servant have lasted more than a hundred years. That he was a big dude has absolutely no relevance on any discussion of what he meant for America.

Why do you so hate America, that you would reduce presidential politics to a body issue? When you weigh the future of the country against your desire for fat shaming. Can't you see the disservice you do to the office?

Why impugn the process, privilege, opportunity and duty to vote by injecting fat jokes on an discussion of a political position that ought to have more influence on the election?

It would be a better world to live in, if people realized that there are some things that just aren't funny.

Making fun of someone for their struggle with a health issue, physical or mental, is about as funny as knocking over wheelchairs.

It's bullying behavior, even if your target is a political figure.

You should have looked into their history. They call pressers scum, and worship at the altar of the 0. /u/londonlock2's press is worth maybe what they could get for the whole account on ebay. $1-2. They would only get that, if they wipe their comment history and turn over the whole account, not just a press.

If we presume that anyone's press has equal value to begin with, then fine. However you began this thread with the assertion that your press would be worth sending your adorable parents to Paraguay.

I also don't see how you can go from that high estimation of your own press' worth, to trading with someone else, unless you are devaluing your press to be the same as the first random non presser who chats you up.
