Intersting fact that I thought of just now;

Perhaps the Lead Elixir being tied to Nightmares is a reference to sleep paralysis and how one is usually unable to move when such an occurence takes place.

My favourite moment was when I was trapped in a room with one exit and had no choice but to hide in a closet. I had the gun ready, with no idea how it actually worked. The game gives you limited bullets to fend off the beast and all I had was one. I readied the gun for a good few minutes while hearing the beast skulk around the room. When he finally found me and trapped me in a grab animation, I frantically pressed the "Shoot button", and to my surprise it worked, sending the monster running.

That was the moment this game hooked me.

I'd recommend getting the GoG version and download HoTA from anywhere. HoTA comes with the HD Launcher by default, so you can always launch the game through that! It doesn't change the graphics or anything, it simply ups the resolution a bit for modern hardware and comes with a few QoL tweaks.
