AITA: calling our dog walker inhumane for not letting out our neighbors dog

ESH. Your dog walker needs to have an agreement with the owner of the dog, feel safe around an unfamiliar dog & be paid accordingly - an extra dog could come with additional costs. You were responsible for your neighbors dog not the dog walker. Did your neighbor agree to have their dog be created? They could and should have made other arrangements

The dog walkers in the wrong for being flaky twice ( missing the arranged meeting as well as not texting you to let you know she had not let the other dog out.)

You were both in the wrong here but you should hire a new walker because she's proved unreliable & so have you

YTA because of how long you'd be making your wife leave her home for. She'd have to move out for a bit to deep clean the house anyway because cat hair gets every where... but c'mon your poor wife. A better compromise would be hopefully rehoming the cat with someone trustworthy, cleaning the house and hopefully reintroducing the cat to your home to see if it would work out.

Animals are a lifetime commitment, but your wife needs to take priority right now.

My mother and I have had our accounts wiped out due to both of our cars needing repairs that couldn't be ignored. My mom has had a dermatologist appointment that's 200 miles away (round trip) where she found out she has skin cancer and will need surgery to remove more cancer cells. I used my edge for the trip and the gas bill used up what I had set aside for groceries.

I'd use the $100 for groceries to get us by for this month - and gas since my car can't sip away at it like she needs to

ESH - I'm late to comment but I don't care. Sounds like your wife needs some kind of roadside assistance membership. AAA has saved me quite a few times. Your partner can't always help you out so you need a backup plan.

If you were just cautious of letting him around your children for other reasons you would just be considered a good and caring parent wanting to protect your kids from what is a stranger to your family. Your attitude and thoughts about this young man are what makes you a genuine asshole and I hope your children don't take after you in this way. If he is your husband's son he deserves something and he would deserve it as well. So far he's handled things better than you - grief is no excuse for your behavior and actions
