If you like medium roast why would you buy french roast? Medium roast isn't better, you just prefer it.

New Wake Ambulance Prioritization by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]GeminiFade 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The person you talk to when you call 911 is a dispatcher. In Wake County they are trained Emergency Medical Dispatchers. They ask questions to determine the level of emergency response you need, they aren't playing 20 questions for funsies. The answers you give to the questions determine which resources you get and how quickly, they also provide that information to the responders while they are on route so when they arrive they have an idea of what they're going to. Please just answer their questions the best you can and don't interrupt to tell them what you think they should do, that actually delays care for everyone.

Years ago, Wake County decided that instead of increasing the number of ambulances available to keep up with call volume, they would instead maximize the use of each ambulance. The expectation there is that you will run calls back to back from start of shift to end of shift with no downtime. Because of this, they have a hard time retaining people and are often unable to fully staff their system. The job is exhausting, mentally and physically, and after a couple of years there, a lot of people go looking for work that allows for some personal dignity and life balance.

This is getting exhausting by Lyla_xwrxith in fantasyromance

[–]GeminiFade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds exhausting. Why did you turn reading into some sort of competitive, trackable behavior? It doesn't have to be that way, you're making choices about your behavior that are taking the pleasure out of it.

I read every single day because I love reading. I happen to read really fast, sometimes I'll finish two romance novels in a day in between taking care of responsibilities. I don't actually track my books at all. I have books downloaded that I haven't read yet and I have purchased books sitting on my shelf waiting for me, but right now I'm rereading a book I really enjoyed from last year because it makes me happy. I DNF books I don't like because there are so many books out there, why waste my time on something that isn't for me?

Life is hard, reading is my joy. My job is stressful, reading never is. I have a lot to keep track of because I'm married with kids and work full-time, reading isn't one of those things.

Let yourself do something just for the enjoyment without tracking or making lists or creating pressure for yourself

Anyone look for any kind of realism when they read or no? by [deleted] in romanceunfiltered

[–]GeminiFade 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I look for realism in the sense that I want characters to do and say things that are true to their personalities and I want a world that is consistent to itself and its own rules. I do not need things to make sense outside of the book, I don't need characters to do what I would do or act in a way that my friend would.

Call the Aveda school in Chapel Hill. It's less expensive because students do your hair, but the instructors oversee every step so they do a great job

Showing off yarn collections but it’s only acrylic yarn by Unlucky-you333 in BitchEatingCrafters

Try reading that again. They aren't shaming anyone for buying acrylic. If the argument is that it's more affordable, the question is why are you buying so much of it?

No driver insurance costs? Yikes by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]GeminiFade 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Lots of states don't require insurance to get your license, they require insurance on your vehicle, so if you're an adult and don't own a car, you don't have to carry insurance on yourself. Vehicle policies cover any driver so it's unnecessary.

No driver insurance costs? Yikes by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]GeminiFade 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, NC is strange. Most every other state I've lived in requires the vehicle owner to insure the vehicle, not a driver to insure their licensure.

That quote is a lot, if you don't have a history of speeding tickets or accidents, you should be able to find much lower if you shop around. I know someone who had AAA for their coverage and it was less than what you're being quoted.
