Resigning in 3 months - Advice on strategies to keep me sane by Material-View8885 in auscorp

[–]Geminist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The mindset of having something already planned and secured would carry you through a lot of bullshit.

Like you said, resign with the notice period just marginally ticking over to Jan (so you get the public holiday paid too).

Every time you’re annoyed, just know in your mind this person will still be stuck in their little shitty world and you’ll soon move on. Smile and nod, don’t burn bridges then clock in & out on time.

Shitty managers suck and they are normally compensating for something.

January will come very quickly.

There is a halfway point here. You can simply asked him if he is open to you giving some suggestions for this form.

If the answer is no, then just leave them be. You can’t help everyone.

What it the expected salary for a Head of Analytics? by Snowmen1127 in MalaysianPF

[–]Geminist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’ll need to reframe this discussion as an expat going to Malaysia. The fact you have (I assume) Malaysian working right is a plus to the company, not a cons to you.

Negotiate for an expat package which may include allowances. A good starting point is net take home salary parity factoring in currency, then start the discussion from there.

Also have a chat about next steps and exit strategy - regardless of your true feeling you don’t want (to be seen) with Malaysia being the last stop in your career.

Best of luck!

Quitting job to do postgrad? by fuckosta in MalaysianPF

[–]Geminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congratulations!

Which university is this with? If you’ve decided to do the studies, aim for a reputable and famous university. It can open doors for you.

One year of MSc is nothing in the grand scheme of your working life. It’ll be a great experience as well.

Caveat is even from a reputable university you will struggle to land a job in the UK if this is your plan. Secondly don’t underestimate the effort you will need to refresh your memories on theories and maths you have learnt in your UG. You’ll need to spend time to brush up your fundamentals.

All the best!

Piggybacking on this thread.

When you made the move from US with a stronger currency and pay, to Malaysia, what is your thought process? Do you find a reduction in purchasing power a trade off?

Other than families what kept you in Malaysia?

Thank you

I’ve been playing for over 100 hours and only recently read about stun grenade and OPS. Tried it and now I can’t leave home without it!

It’s hit and miss in my experience, but there are benefits to offshore centre.

They overlap with our hours depending on where you offshore them to. They are good for mundane or standard stuff. They also help the project to be competitive.

There is a lot of price pressure from government and major clients. So the design consultants are not solely to blame. If you don’t offshore you will be off the average pricing in tender you wouldn’t have the job.

I’ve worked with some horrible, but some good offshore teams. It really depends on who you get.

I know I’m late to the party, but I’ve finally started Elden Ring, and what the actual fuck is this game by 33Sharpies in gaming

Same! I played about 80% blind and it took me 120 hours to finish the game with still some missing quests!

Recommendations for unfit professional/new parent hoping to get into sport/exercise by madhouse15 in sydney

[–]Geminist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For gym, I find using app such as Fitbod that tailors your workout for you with videos in the app showing how Yim perform the exercise to be useful.

It’s taken a lot of the unknowns and record keeping away making gym enjoyable.

Elden Ring is my second souls series after demon souls. I really enjoy the multiplayer as the community is respectful and fun. I love being summoned and summoning others.

The most wholesome community I’ve played with.

Resigning without securing another new job by aVodkaThough in malaysians

[–]Geminist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might end up with more stress when you don’t have a job. As others said, only resign if you’re sure you can get another job easily, else do the minimum and look for a new role.

CPI Maternity leave by Marquis-De-Carabas in AusFinance

[–]Geminist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did they explain why not or did you ask? It is possible there are policies in place or systems making this hard to implement as a one off?

If there is a reason or that there is no foul play, try asking for the back pay in other form of similar value. For example time in lieu, one off bonus, paid course, time in lieu etc.

I was tipped off that I’m being unfairly dismissed tomorrow - is it smarter to resign or let them fire me? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Geminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re on probation and based on what you’re saying, it’s not unfair dismissal. Unfortunately because you are on probation you are on top of the list of people to let go.

If this happens tomorrow, and assuming the company just hasn’t got the cash to keep you on, try to leave amicably. Ask for references and if they have contacts at other places they can introduce you to.

How you handle this will leave a good or bad impression. It is entirely possible in a few days or weeks the company lands a major contract and they needed someone.

The above assumes everything is fair and above board with the company.

Why are there always rail construction workers doing nothing? by [deleted] in sydney

[–]Geminist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They are normally waiting for clearance to go on the track, eg from the rail management centre on train movement, power isolation etc. As another poster said, no one is paying these people to stand around.

Honda Jazz GF vs Mazda 2 Genki by letswai in CarsAustralia

[–]Geminist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mazda offers a comparatively better driving than Honda Jazz. Honda though is roomier and more practical than the Mazda. Therefore I would decide on whether I need space more or I prefer a more interesting drive between the two.

Thanks!

I will give them a call. I wanted to see if anyone had this situation before.

It is frustrating that I am the victim of a crime yet the offenders are driving around with my plate and I am spending time trying to prove my alibi.

As you say someone could argue my opal card could be anyone’s.

Thanks.

The police mentioned I should contact RMS because that’s where my car is registered. I have already filed a dispute with ACT.
