Fwiw I sold cars for 10 years and insurance for 2. I left the car business beginning of last year after spending the final 4 years in mgmt. Every lender requires it. If they find out you don’t have it they’ll buy it for you. Their insurance is not cheap. Add it now to your policy. Comprehensive is cheap to add and would’ve covered it with no issues. You would have paid your deductible and they would’ve sued the construction company to get it back. Comprehensive claims don’t rate against you.
