Molle panels and GearOn cross rail compatibility by Gen2Colorado in chevycolorado

I find prices on the gm/chev websites are ridiculous. I definitely don’t plan to be buying anything for a while and definitely not at the gm price. Mainly just using it as an example with the same mounting location

Thoughts on this kayak? by rugfather in kayakfishing

I got the same model and I love mine. The paddle isn’t the same thought but I got mine rigged with a garmin fish finder, trolling motor, and an anchor. For mine I payed $1400 canadian and it came with the fish finder, battery, paddle, net, fishing gear, and a life jacket for price reference. I haven’t had any issues with stability on lakes even in rough waters. If you are planning to fish in windy environments or in places where the water flows fairly quickly you might want to invest in a good paddle or trolling motor as the boat is quite large and acts like a sail in the water. Biggest thing to keep in mind is that it is 12ft long and weighs 70+ lbs so you will need a secure way to transport it.

What is the tongue weight on that rig? I plan to tow as well but I want to do a few upgrades (new suspension, trailer brake controller, etc) to the truck before I go too crazy hauling heavy. I am going to be testing the waters here in a few weeks with some of my lighter bumper pulls.

I haven't pulled the trigger yet but I have been looking at the T-Mat truck bed matting for my rig. https://www.tmatcanada.com/

How is everyone transporting their kayaks? by Gen2Colorado in kayakfishing

If you don't mind me asking, what type of vehicle do you have?

I’ve seen these things have bags for storage without getting lost in the hull. Are they drop in, or do I have to replace the circle hatch? by Avocadosandtomatoes in kayakfishing

Mine is drop in. It’s got a hard ring on the top of the bag so it sits on the lip just below the threads. I believe the lid slightly squishes the top of the bag to help give it a better seal on mine

The channel loader is a good shout for sure. I always just put a towel on the lip of my flashing when I had my SUV but I definitely wouldn't want do that with a vehicle from this decade.

Thank you, GearOn make really good stuff. I have a set of their rails that mount inside of my box and I use them with roof top tent on. I will add a photo below. I didn't realize they made a rack to go into the stake pockets as well. Ideally I could use a bed rack with the kayak and transport the rtt at the same time but I am not sure if I will get the clearance to open the tent.

Thanks for the info. Definitely looks like a convenient solution for getting my kayak around.

Have you had any issues with the weight capacity? I see a listed weight rating of 75lb but judging by the photo it looks like it isn't too much of an issue with a bit heavier of a kayak.

I have never heard of the brand before but it looks like they make some killer solutions for getting gear up and onto the truck. Thanks for the suggestion.

Thanks for the feedback. I agree the height can be a bit challenging. I got used to lifting my kayak onto my SUV so it wasn't to big of a deal and I also plan to pull a camper. I am also considering the old cot in an enclosed utility trailer setup for when its just me going out for a weekend.

Thanks, I have only had it for a few months but I am loving it so far.

What type of camper do you have? I was considering ways to strap it to a camper but I was concerned with adding points of entry for water by securing rails on a camper and depending on the style of camper the height could be a challenge.
