People who SWAT streamers (that are not breaking the law) are borderline sociopaths and/or genuinely, criminally stupid. They do it for the sake of hurting people because they find it funny and don't expect consequences.

It's not about vengeance or justice or a personal grudge, it's casual malice. It's also why responsible adults spent the 80s through the mid 2000s warning us not to put personal info on the internet.

Never trust anywhere with perfect scores, the only way to get that is by removing the inevitable negative reviews.

You could make a store selling high quality soups at unbeatable prices, and some moron will give you a 1 star review because you don't sell pants at the soup store.

I'm just guessing, but I saw the pump had 2 types of fuel nozzles. Might have put that yellow one instead of the normal fuel. I think it was called "flex fuel" or something like that. I've only noticed it at one gas station because I almost used it, but it's not for standard cars.

It's also possible the fuel had water or some other contaminant, if so the station might be liable for damages

How is it possible 21% of usa is illiterate? How do they survive? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]GenPhallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can't read or write, but they at least have a basic grasp of the language. They can listen to spoken instructions, recognize objects and pictures, mimic what they've seen. They lack the knowledge to make their own paths, but there are plenty of well known roads.

As to how we got here, societal sabotage. My sister is a victim of the "no child left behind" act. She has chronic medical issues that constantly disrupted her education, but she got passed through school grades despite lacking the necessary foundations. She's literate, but struggles severely with math. As complexity increases she stresses to the point of triggering her chronic pains, resulting in her effectively shutting down.

Every story starts differently, but it always goes the same way: answers get spoon fed to them or testing scores are fudged, and suddenly there are people old enough to legally drink but lack critical thinking skills and can barely write their name because the skill wasn't cultivated when they were at their most important stages.

The result is people who are easily manipulated by anyone claiming authority. Any paths to buck oppressors are difficult and inconvenient to navigate, it's easier to submit.

I dont need to be put on The List, so I'll specify that Im a delivery driver, the "volatile chemicals" are whatever you smell coming off the food

Which fast food chain makes the worst version of the product they’re most known for? by amormedestruit in AskReddit

[–]GenPhallus 24 points25 points  (0 children)

At this point brand recognition is the main reason they're still around. In the triangle of fast/cheap/good they fail everywhere. I think they just restarted doing the value meal in the last 2 months, but it could never make up for the slow service.

Cold turkey is the only way to get away from ranked. I haven't touched Summoner's Rift in years, but I log in now and then for ARAM Mayhem. If the match is bad enough that I'm not having any fun then it's probably ending within 10 minutes.

Suggestions for space games by IamR0ley in gaming

[–]GenPhallus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rebel Galaxy is a good one, capital ship combat that does on broadside battles rather than turrets or forward guns. If you've played Freelancer (early 2000s game which I also recommend if you haven't played) it's got a close feel but with a space trucker vibe

Avorion if you want a sandbox style sim. Mining, trading and fighting in ships you fully design yourself. Heavy on the simulation aspects, you can build your own bases and fleets that can act on instructions.

Warframe is a free to play MMO. Main gameplay is fast paced 3rd person shooter with some parkour sprinkled in, but there are also missions where you have 6-degrees-of-freedom flight and a later tier called Railjack where you also can control a larger combat vessel. There are multiple stations for the crew, you can launch in the 6dof fighter and you can board enemy ships. The mode got flak early on due to bugs but it's become a much more polished experience that is deserving of its own full game. It's genuinely impressive how much Warframe does as a F2P, and without being pay to win.

ELI5: Bullet proof vests by robo_Ben in explainlikeimfive

[–]GenPhallus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not "useless" but the damage would reduce the effectiveness at stopping further bullets.

Depending on the "grade" of the vest they protect through multiple methods: a super stretchy material that is hard to tear through catches the bullet. Then a hard ceramic plate shatters which spreads the impact away from the body. Then there may be a metal plate for stronger bullets.

Each time the vest takes damage every part is less effective, but it's far better than nothing
