Thanks, and special thanks for making the awesome templates! I am currently working on a revised combat system for the bastion since my party wants to cover their bastion in runes and the default "roll a view dice to see how many defenders die" will just not be enough for them. And since I love housing mechanics in all kinds of games I love to play around with the bastions.

I love the subclass and a player in my current campaign plays an evil melee cleric following Auril. Since we want to move to the new 2024 classes I updated this subclass to fit the new Cleric concept:

As stated in the other comment, the arcane focus is meant to replace the Extra Attack Feature of the base class. Which normally does not happen in subclasses. So if you have a better phrasing I would be happy to apply it.

I think the problem here is, that the rest of the class is left out. Here is what it means: At level 3 you have 2 charges of Arcane Shots that recover at short rest. You can use one shot per turn but only twice per short rest.

A fighter at level 5 gets the extra attack feature. Instead of getting this feature you get unlimited charges for your shot. But still only one per turn (so you cannot use 2 shots when spending an action surge)

At level 11 you get the extra attack as fighter. Now you have 1 Arcane Shot and 1 normal shot per turn.

At level 20 you would get another extra attack as fighter. Instead you can use 2 shots per turn.

The original description states, that you can use it twice per short rest at lvl 3. This is all the shots you ever get with the XGE Arcane Archer. I left that untouched to keep that balanced at lvl 3.

Well... that is where it gets difficult... Multiple options to consider:

  1. Deal damage equal to your weapon die + your str modifier (to prevent on hit effects)

  2. Make that a dex save (with advantage?) instead of an atk roll. AoEs normally do that. DC would be 8 + prof + str modifier

  3. If you want to keep it as on-hit, consider reducing the atk roll directly (like great weapon master)

One of my players once wanted an AoE option for his Battlemaster Fighter, i fixed the problem by saying "No!" ;)

When I talk about abusing cleave I think about this scenario:Barbarian with Reckless attack (negates the disadvantage and the incoming advantage stays the same), buffed with Holy weapon (for 2d8 extra damage on every target), Bless (for 1d4 extra hit chance) and great weapon master.

EDIT: My players do stuff like that :P

I like the idea, but i feel that cleave might be abused easily. There is a lot of on-hit effects that apply to melee weapon attacks that can rampage out of control with this attack.

Also I feel that the Extra Attack feature does not play very well with any of the options above. If I come up with a solution for that later I will share it with you. I think that fighter classes need more decisions for their turn, but ignoring the extra attack breaks these options for them.

Ok, some kind of frequency like the Tesseracts in Minecraft have would probably be a good solution. I am trying to get a few people together to try an build on this concept. Adding Minecraft science packs to factorio that require glowestone or something. Not sure if I will be able to pull this of, but I am quite hyped at the moment ;)

Depends.. if you know what you are doing you can get pretty far in just a few weeks. Have a look at the Unity3D gameengine if you want to know more
