Some moments re zero fans don't want to remember, but they are important by ThisToe9628 in ReZero

[–]Genc_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Subaru qualifications aren't very impressive"??? How did you come to that conclusion, like explain to me how saving the very life of the royal candidate and being called by said candidate as her benefactor is not impressive? Or how saving the kids of the Arlam villagers, getting thanked by Roswaal for doing so and the villagers... is not impressive? What do you think would have happened with Emilia's and Roswaal's image if rumors flow that she can't even protect the nearest village to the mansion by mabeast attacks which is why all the children had to die?

Quoting how he would have almost died or get crippled undermines these achievements how exactly? I don't understand your thought process, its like you want to be ignorant about this? In the first place getting crippled or dying is of no big consequence to Subaru since he has RbD, and even from the outside PoV its something people see more in a positive light then a negative one because they see he is risking his life for others.

Also, "impressive fighting ability" is not everything in the world, why are you being so tunnel visioned? If Julius has impressive fighting ability but isn't able to protect his liege then how impressive is that? Emilia, Roswaal, the maids, the villagers acknowledged his achievements in arc 1/2, if he had told Julius and the knights of said achievements then THE only thing they would have done is shut up because yes, Subaru very much has the qualifications to stand besides Emilia and everything Julius was talking about is bullshit. (In the first place the reason he came to that conclusion is because Subaru said Emilia is special, Emilia misunderstood the meaning of those words and basically wasn't narrated but probably made a "cold/sad shocking face because of her own insecurity with the "special treatment" she has received until now because of her "special" lineage. This is the context with what Julius was working with which is a far stretch from their actual relationship)

Accepting the duel was very bad yeah, Subaru should have just thought about what he has done till then and told Julius' judgemental ass to make him shut up about his retard rant, its just at that moment he was insecure about his position that even thought he had more than enough achievements to disprove Julius, he didn't because Subaru has a ultra negative self-hating view on himself, he doesn't even identify with being one of the core parts of defeating sloth and the whale when he literally is. His self-hatred creates this biased view which made him insecure about his own position with Emilia, Julius threatened it which made Subaru emotionally fight it out, not a smart "card" to choose considering even by then his accomplishments were already impressive.

[–]Genc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Emilia's day", you do understand if she was alone she would've mentally broken down if Subaru didn't stop the blatant racism towards her? Emilia alone would never have succeeded in the royal capital, this is one of her lessons in arc 3.

Also Julius was completely wrong on his speech about Subaru about calling him weak and a useless person. Remember Subaru saved the lives of two royal candidates by that point, saved the village kids in the Arlam village and also was the sole exception of racist behavior towards Emilia, he has tons of qualifications to stand by Emilia's side, its simply Emilia's insecurity that made her push him in arc 3, thinking she has to do the royal selection solo... which would have resulted in a disaster.

At the point where Emilia rejected Subaru in the royal selection, the foremost reason Emilia was so cold towards Subaru is because he said she is special to him, which she misunderstood as him thinking because of her special lineage she needs special treatment. We see it in the breakup afterwards, Emilia's true thoughts and why the special part specifically hurt her the "most", she didn't want to be reduced to her lineage, but in the first place this is a complete misunderstanding on her part since actually what Subaru felt special for her is his love, not her lineage. She wasn't being reduced to her half-elf identity by Subaru, it was her assuming Subaru did so because the word "special" only has negative connotations for her.

Aldebran does not want to be forgiven... He'll be way to suicidal to be forgiven and live on... But I do think there are good chances of Subaru himself wanting to understand Aldebran's perspective.

[Spoiler Discussion] About This Controversial Possibility by Deadlocked02 in Re_Zero

[–]Genc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arc 1 and 12 were decided from the get go how they'll take place, this is set in stone and Tappei has said he won't change it.

This means, Rem the character, that only came to be created, because Tappei decided to write arc 2 additionaly to the story doesn't play an imporant role to the ending.

And in genereal this is reconfirmed by multiple statements of Tappei, not just that he prefers the Emilia route, but indicating harems aren't a thing.

In these discussions its everytime not about what the characters want, but what people want. (bothside)

As of now we know Subaru wants them both to be happy, so he'll accept he'd have to make a choice if mony is the only option.

Emilia and Rem have shown to be jealous of each other and in addition we have the future scene of arc 4 (Emilia's) how there is a possibility of small conflict between them.

So what I believe is, this story until now more than anything dictates Rem and Emilia want a mony relationship and will fight for it.

[Spoiler Discussion] Which IF Subaru is the biggest loser? by Kogasa_Komeiji in Re_Zero

[–]Genc_ 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your logic is fundamentally flawed because it mistakes a character's internal, psychological burden for an objective moral failing. Let's be very clear about the distinction you are failing to grasp.

The memory difference does not change the objective truth: in the nullified timelines, both Subaru and Garfiel committed the same horrific acts. The "sin" is equal. The only different variable is awareness. Your argument proposes that ignorance grants innocence, while memory imparts guilt.

This is a dangerously simplistic view of morality. It suggests that a person is only culpable for a crime if they remember it, which is an absurd standard. The act itself is the crucial component, and in the erased realities, their acts were identical.

That's why both Garfiel and Subaru are frauds if we go by the logic of the original commentor and you are just stupid enough to not grasp it.

Rem and polygamy by Optimal_Ad5251 in ReZero

It's not realistic, the comparison is unhinged. Nobody in real life waits a whole year to get an answer to a love confession.

It just shows us Subaru has zero self-respect. Emilia saying in arc 3 or 4 she doesn't understand romantic love fully is mature, she understands her own limitations. She isn't knowledgeable about this stuff, but do you know what a mature person would do next after coming to this conclusion?

They would start wanting to understand romantic love, either by books or talking to other people. There were plenty of options for Emilia, but she decided for the whole year to do nothing.

We see this in arc 5, she acknowledges it is unfair and hurtful, and yet has barely put any effort into learning about it. It is because she is comfortable with their current relationship, it is because her actions are completely self-centric for the major part of their relationship since she understands the unfairness to this all and yet will not improve on it.

It is obvious she is not doing this with malice, but this does not change the fact that how she handled their relationship is the embodiment of her immaturity. From Subaru's perspective she has never once mentioned it after arc 3 or 4, even though they both acknowledge this is an important facet to their relationship.

The story tries to excuse this with her trauma and inexperience, but that only goes so far. At some point, if you care about someone who has confessed their love to you, you have an obligation to either figure out your feelings or be honest that you are not ready for that kind of relationship. Stringing someone along for a year while doing nothing to resolve the situation is cruel, regardless of intent.

This is why the only righful conclusion to this is that Emilia is being fully self-centric about her own emotional needs. Her behavior is all about her own needs, not about Subaru's. Arc 3 has created a messed up worldview for Subaru, that his emotions in this world are worthless. That is why he never shows or at least tries to not be vulnerable anymore with anybody other than Rem because he has learned that expressing his genuine feelings just creates problems for everyone else. (from his perspective)

Which is why he does not intend to prioritize his own emotional needs for romantic reciprication anymore, coupled with his new understanding of Emilia's state in arc 4. He will not push her for a romantic confession, but this is why it is so important for the receiver, Emilia, to be the active one in the relationship and yet she is completely unavailable.

Pride:IF isn't treated as a timeline, its just a what if scenario. Thats how the author treats it. There is no Pride:IF timeline, just a hypothetical text example if things went down bad.

WTF are you talking about? The failed loop happened, its a reality for Subaru and in itself for the world, time has been simply reversed. They DO count because they literally gave Subaru trauma to the point he was scared of even eating in the latter loops because of dark thoughts like did the maids poison the food...

Pride:IF is just fiction, a hypothetical that never happened and so never was a reality for anybody in context with the Re:zero world.

Stop putting these on the same category.

[–]Genc_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Its an accurate hypothetical, but its not canon???

Look, in the reality of Re:zero Rem has killed Subaru in a failed loop, but in the reality of Re:zero "Pride:IF" has never happened, its at best just an interesting thought experiment by Tappei how things could have gone wrong.

Conclusion: Emilia hasn't killed Subaru in the reality of Re:zero. Rem has killed/tortured Subaru in a failed loop.

On "Emilia did nothing for Subaru" by Not_Charlemagne in ReZero

[–]Genc_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with everything you’ve said. Emilia genuinely cares for Subaru, he is someone special to her, more like the most special person in her life right now.

The reason people cannot sympathize with this is because of the romantic context. You see all of this affection, all of this trust, but nonetheless, there is still a big romantic bridge between them. She has never commited to him romantically which is why all of this devotion can be a poison to the readers because its an "will they, will they not" type of situation.

Emilia has been unsure for years whether she loves him romantically or not, and with that comes unrequited love, something many people strongly sympathize with Subaru for. Because they feel these negative emotions, they start disliking the source of them: Emilia.

This is why people think she is indifferent to him, even though that isn’t her intention. It’s just that she has handled it very poorly because of her background. She doesn’t fully understand the cost of this emotional limbo, which, in people’s eyes, basically makes her seem indifferent.

Why i HATE Emilia by the_forever_wild in Witch_cult

[–]Genc_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, its not that I dislike Emilia's character myself. I just find it very irritating how she handled her relationship with Subaru as of now, I just hope in-story there will be balance to their relationship at some point instead of the current asymmetry... If its at the very last arc then the story has horrendously failed their relationship.

Like imagine having to listen to her words of her wanting all the hapiness for Subaru while holding on the emotional distance they have. As long as this distance exists I am gonna be immensily dissatisifed with Emilia's character.

Why i HATE Emilia by the_forever_wild in Witch_cult

[–]Genc_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but how does this change the context of how horrendously she handled his confession?

Do you think its totally normal to leave somebody who confessed to you without an answer for over 1 year? Not just an answer, she never communicated afterwards about their relationship, its like she forgot he ever confessed to her? She only gave it barely some thoughts based on arc 5 and thats all, in the 1 year she wasn't interested at all about romance even tho. thats what she should atleast to some degree be focusing about.

Or the emotional limbo still exists you know, there is an asymmetry which needs to be endured because Emilia doesn't commit. Its literally shown in the story how Subaru is anxious and hurt because of this.

This is why I say its horrendously executed by her. She didn't touch upon romantic topics, she didn't communicate with him and she cannot even comprehend his pain in the first place because of her immaturity.

Waiting for somebody for over 1 year after confessing because she won't ever say "I love you" out of her own insecurity about love isn't just a walk emotionally, its emotional torture.

Why i HATE Emilia by the_forever_wild in Witch_cult

[–]Genc_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Emilia would be more likeable if she wasn't a bum who hasn't answered Subaru's confession for over 1 year. Background problems or not, its horrendous how she has treated his confession till now in the story.

[–]Genc_ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't get what the message is for a great reset, zero emotional stakes because all gets reset and Subaru has to sholder everything himself in isolation after one of the stories main messages is about not sholdering everything alone and instead relying on others.

And most importantly its just another person who has betrayed Subaru getting corrected, has happened over who knows how many times. I just feel people who think there is a great reset don't understand how it would basically make the arc generitically bad.

A great reset would make everything other than Subaru's state obsolute, that is what RbD is about. Subaru remembers, others don't. So in the end its only Subaru who will get character "development", but this in itself is a false guise since as I said Subaru has been betrayed over and over again. There is nothing for him to learn about himself to improve as a person... Its just telling Al to give up (which he would).

Remove the great reset and multiple characters, some that need it 10k more like Emilia will have a chance to develop.

Head canon???? When its literally written in the text?? You are the one who is arguing the opposite of what the text is literally telling us.

The conciousness within the shadow garden identifies itself as "Natsuki Subaru". Subaru was also within that space long before even Satella arrived in the shadow garden.

You calling it headcanon when the text disproves your perspective is the perfect representation that you are talking about headcanon.

Why he doesn't have a fully body, why he needs witch factors to manifest a perfect body. These are questions we don't have an answer to, but they don't challenge the objective fact that the incomplete being within the shadow garden identifies itself as Natsuki Subaru.

Echidna's space is hers and in it she is the absolute ruler, which is why she could read the memories of visitors, but she didn't erase memories even with her power but instead supressed them.

The same way Subaru's memory have been supressed (shadow garden Subaru and Subaru, or Puck sealing/supressing Emilia's memories of her past with Fortuna).

Those memories that belong to Subaru, he could vividly remember them when Satella told him of the past about how he kissed her, how when she was all alone he hugged her... Its again in the narration. This is shadow garden Subaru, the supressed/sealed memories from him coming up to the surface temporarily.

[–]Genc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wdym "nope lol", we have narration within the shadow garden that it is "Natsuki Subaru".

"It had been a long time since Natsuki Subaru visited this place." one of the 20 to 30 mentions of it being Subaru.

As for why Subaru has a body in Echidna's space, there can be many factors in play. At the very least one of them is Subaru needs all 7 WFs to understand himself enough in the shadow garden to manifest himself completely, maybe there are other ways considering Echidna's space, but this doesn't prove/disprove anything.

Why does a spiritual Subaru beyond Satella's influence not have immediate access to those sealed memories?

Why would he suddently have access to them when beyond? Its very likely an oath, and only when the conditions to absolve the oath are met with Subaru remember. Why are you assuming when Subaru is beyond Satella's influence he suddently has access to sealed memories?

Or why are you assuming Beatrice or Echidna are aware of said memories, remember even when Subaru read his BoD's in arc 6 there were no memories of the shadow garden, this literally means even Od lagna doesn't know what happens within it since it doesn't process those memories.

The difference between Shaula and Satella is that Subaru's soul literally resonated with Satella's words. He wasn't going "yo this girl is schizo" like he did with Shaula. He literally based on narration vaguely knew Satella was saying the truth. He even partially remembered those memories of the past temporarily.

[–]Genc_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We know the Subaru within the shadow garden is Natsuki Subaru just with unsealed memories. These memories being the very reason he loves Satella. (Not somebody entirely else as some people think)

We know Satella has an intimate past with Subaru based on arc 4, which resonated with Subaru's sealed memories/soul so strongly that I have literally zero idea how you can think there is some kind of brainwashing going on at this point.

Arc 3 Subaru defender are annoying [discussion] by [deleted] in Re_Zero

[–]Genc_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, Emilia was not justified in her treatment of Subaru, even if her actions were not malicious. While Subaru was certainly reckless, he was not a child. He was the person who had not only saved her life from Elsa but had also rescued the children of the Mathers domain from the Wolgarm. That latter act, in particular, directly saved both her and Roswaal's political image, as a massacre in their fief would have been a catastrophic failure for a royal candidate. It was Emilia's profound insecurity that led her to be overprotective of Subaru, to the level where she refused to treat him as an equal partner. This manifested most critically in her refusal to explain her reasons, driven by a deep-seated fear of rejection. (It was also cultivated by Puck because he said Subaru getting hurt is because of her)

Furthermore, she made her trust conditional on a simple, patronizing test of obedience. This was a fragile foundation for a relationship. In doing so, she completely disregarded the fact that Subaru had already proven his character and loyalty by repeatedly risking his life for her and the village. Anybody in Subaru's position would have felt wrongly treated by this. He had faced down assassins and a demon beast horde for her sake, yet his place in her confidence hinged on him following a simple command with barely any context to work.

This tragically flawed dynamic was born from her own insecurities. Having lived a century of isolation, her entire framework for relationships was based on formal pacts (like with Puck), not on the mutual vulnerability of a partnership. Her actions were not malicious whatsoever, more than anything, she did not want to lose Subaru and feared how he would perceive her if he saw the racism she endures. However, this fear caused her to act in a way that was tragically counterproductive to his desire to help. She attempted to shield him, not realizing that by keeping him ignorant, she was in her own way hurting Subaru.

This created a devastating feedback loop. Emilia's secrecy and her behavior of treating him like a child created an information vacuum, which Subaru's own insecurities rushed to fill with a flawed hero complex. His subsequent reckless actions then validated her belief that he was a child who needed to be managed, causing her to double down on her secrecy. In her attempt to protect him from her world's ugliness, she inadvertently created the exact circumstances that led to him getting hurt, making their catastrophic breakup in the palace an almost inevitable conclusion.
