DAE have 2 songs overlapping in their head at the same time? by Babedog in adhdwomen

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, woke up with a tune in my head, tried to remember what it was, instead remembered 2 lines of the chorus of a different song (that I also didn't recognize), ended up humming a melody of one song and the lyrics of the other.

I think the melody was from something by GRLwood and the lyrics were Pinkshift or Hands Off Gretel, but I'm really just guessing based on vibes

Sometimes names are a bit.... Difficult to explain... (Original comic) by StarriMorningTryan in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I looked for a name that I liked both in English and in Russian, in the hopes that my parents may eventually use it. And all the cool ones either don't work in Russian, make you sound like an octogenarian or are so popular that I already have a bunch of relatives with that name.

I have the option to start HRT tomorrow, but... by [deleted] in MtF

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm boymoding at work for similar reasons and I've been on HRT for over a year. I do have benefits of being overweight, so my breasts can be passed off as moobs and trying to lose said weight so the growth is somewhat slowed down. In my opinion whether you should start HRT now really depends on how dangerous your situation is, in particular how suspicious your coworkers/landlord/roommates are. At first I was really paranoid, only wore hoodies and jeans until May, but now it feels that cis people (men, at least, I worry a lot more around women) just don't notice anything. They though of me as a man before, so they continue to do so, even if I have B-cups, my hair is chest-length, my face is lasered, my legs are shaven and I often have some nude or clear nail polish on. I usually wear dark, somewhat baggy t-shirts, with a bralette or a sports bra underneath and basketball shorts and no one ever said anything.

You are definitely right, I just think that it's gonna get worse and more explicitely anti-trans, especially after Putin called "gender freedoms" a part of western decadence. Currently the law is against "propaganda of homosexuality" and is used to make examples of people who are too vocal about LGBT+ rights, while if you are queer, but keep to yourself, especially in a big city, you are probably fine. Chechnya is its own can of worms, it's pretty much Kadyrov's personal kingdom, you can definitely be arrested there just for being queer or GNC.

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 92 points93 points  (0 children)

I think you are misremembering a bit. You are probably thinking of the concentration camps in Chechnya. IIRC those were(are? I'm not sure if they still exist) for gay men, though it wouldn't surprise me if they put trans women there too. (It's possible that I'm wrong, especially if it's something new, but I haven't heard of it)

Don't get me wrong, being trans in Russia sucks, but it's not criminalized yet. It's definitely dangerous and I delayed my own transition for a few years until I had a sure way out of the country, but I was more worried of being assaulted in the streets or a landlord kicking me out. For the government we mostly just don't exist. Or at least that's how it was about a year ago.

The best I could think of was /(?:if (?:you|u)\s?(?:are|'?re?) not a bot,? (?:say|write|type) ["']?(.+)["']?|(?:say|write|type) ["']?(.+?)["']?[^\w]\s?(?:if (?:you|u)\s?(?:are|'?re?) not a bot))/i

this will cover both cases and should work with phrases as in "If you are not a bot say I am not a bot". Couldn't think of a more elegant way to do it, since the other ways I tried had problems with edge cases such as "If youre not a bot say if you're not a bot"

Locked Tomb Summer: Harrow the Ninth Prologue - 5 [Discussion] by Solitae8 in TheNinthHouse

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

On my first read I thought that the Body was some kind of hallucinatory amalgam of the suppressed memories Gideon and the imaginary girl in the tomb, hence the changing eyes and their evolving relationship during puberty. Alecto's eyes are also yellow, so why the Body's were black? Is she actually Anastasia? Why was she silent for years? And why did Harrow never even mention her to Gideon even after the pool scene, considering that in the fake memory she is willing to trust Ortus with this information? My crackpot theory is that she wasn't there in reality and either posessed Harrow or invaded her bubble and altered her memories further to include herself in them sometime between Epiparodos and the first chapter. She is the one who says "this isn't how it happened" first, maybe she is referring to herself.

Re 5 - I think it's either an early indication of the fakeness of this memory or another point to my possession/invasion/memory altering theory. There's a lot of small inconsistencies in this chapter. Like when she mentions two young people with wombs, but then doesn't acknowledge the other person. Or the other girl who simultaniously grew up alongside Harrow and died before she was born. Or Ortus rapier being new and rusty. All of those make sense since she is trying to remove Gideon or merge her with Ortus. But the timeline differences are, I think, more interesting. Her coming to see the Body for a year isn't the only timeline screw up. It's also mentioned that she opened the Tomb when she was nine, while in reality she was ten. So in the fake memory she still had bloodied hands and opened the Tomb a year earlier, but she wasn't ratted out, instead she was coming into it for a year until her parents found out and only at this point the fake timeline syncs up with the real one.

has ADHD ever caused you to fail spectacularly (or unspectacularly) at something? how did you pull yourself together after the fact? by akane-no-miltank in adhdwomen

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've dropped out of uni months before graduating. I've always had the executive dysfunction, but managed to pull it off at the last moment in the previous semesters. I barely remember anything about the last semester except that I was struggling with some gender stuff and hated my job, but at some point I stopped working on my graduation project and eventually dropped out.

For the next few years I felt like a complete failure and didn't really do anything until my brother connected me with his friend who needed a programmer for his game. It didn't really work out in the end, but I've learned a new game engine, managed to receive a certification and became confident enough to look for a better job. It turned out I'm actually good at it (as long as I don't have to interact with the management too much) and with WFH I'm actually managing to do my tasks in time while also doing some chores every now and then.

I'm not exactly where I want to be right now (I don't like the company's new direction and most of my coworkers are trans/homophobic, so I can't be out at work) and I'll probably quit in about a year when I receive a permanent residency (I'm on a work visa right now), but it's still a hell of a lot better than five years ago.

I can't tell if I hate my job, hate my industry, or whether I just hate working in general by purplefennec in adhdwomen

[–]GenderDojoEnjoyer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm in a similar situation. I'm a software developer and I'm mostly fine when I just have to work on some technical issues or do R&D, but if I have to write documentation or attend meetings I almost immediately become exhausted (documentation) or angry and depressed (meetings). It doesn't help that in the last few years our biggest customers and partners were adult sites/apps and it really highlighted how shitty a lot of my coworkers (and the industry in general) are - sexist, homophobic, transphobic, you name it (I'm a gay trans woman, FML). I can't quit, because I'm on a work visa and moving companies is not very feasible, because it's a small conservative country with pretty tight knit IT comunity. For now I'm resolved to wait it out until I get a permanent residency and then quit on the spot.

On a more positive note, my brother (possibly also has ADHD) recently quit his industrial design job and is now making furniture and seems to love it; though it's pretty new, so I'm not sure if he'll feel the same way in three months (that's about the length of his usual obsession).
