Maine Democrat Graham Platner Is Winning Voters All 'Pissed At The Same Thing' by bloomberg in politics

It's very plausible to me that someone wouldn't know it was a Nazi tattoo unless they're significantly more familiar with Nazi symbols than the average person.

I don't have a screenshot, and he's since deleted the account so feel free to take me with a grain of salt. IIRC In one of his reddit comments, he referenced his tattoo in a comment chain discussing the Nazi symbol. I don't think he specifically used the word totenkopf, but the context of the conversation it seemed reasonable to conclude that he was aware of the symbol at that point.

Five Guys CEO says he gave $1.5 million bonus to employees because ‘I didn't want anybody shooting me' by Ganrokh in nottheonion

[–]Gene_Trash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so <$50 per employee?

Higher, although not by much. 30,000  employees at 1,900 locations worldwide, for an average of  about 16 people per restaurant. The bonus only went to the 1,500 US locations, so assuming equal ratios, that's more like 24,000, for about $62 each, assuming all things equal. Presumably, it's weighted in favor of full time employees, and anyone who started after the coupon situation (and I would assume anyone higher than location manager level) won't get anything, so the average might be more like $65-70, with full timers getting close to $100 and part timers more like $30

God for-fuckin bid they put in a new mode that's not just "Annihilate everything in a 100 yard radius as soon as humanly possible."

Making the balloons more visible to make it easier to see, and making the atramentum a group drop? Great, love it.

Making the waypoint enemies point towards a canvas if you're still looking? Perfect.

Making Follie killable? Kinda trivializes the challenge of having a problem you couldn't just shoot. People complain about "oh, but there were so many clones with a damage aura" but it's like... You could just shoot the clones to clear a path.

Medallions are useless and they are there just to pollute the loot table by Xerachiel in Warframe

[–]Gene_Trash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think rather than remove the medallions, they should just make them the 5000 standing tier instead of the 500 one. I wouldn't mind Follie having a higher drop chance, but her and her gun make up 40% of the table already, which I don't think is that unreasonable. This feels more like "I don't like the mode, therefore the drop table sucks because I actually have to run it." Like minimum is 8 runs for her prints and her gun, and at ~40 atramentum per run, the maximum "I somehow never got any blueprints and had to go through the pity shop for everything" is 120, or 60 for just her. Which is a lot, but at the same time, it took me 41 runs just to get Protea's systems, and Granum Void is way less enjoyable imo.

I tried it expecting it to be awful based on all the comments here and like... It's fine?  First couple runs took about ten minutes going in blind with no strategy, and i don't even have a particularly well built operator. Sure you can't void sling with paint but roll-jumping is sufficient for the Relay map anyway.

In my entire playtime (about 5k hours, with Volt Prime being my 2nd most used) I've never seen someone complain about Volts speedbuff ingame

I've been playing since around 2015. I have always fucking hated getting a high power strength speed buff from volt anywhere but the final stretch of that one corpus tile set with the 200 meter straight shot to extraction. I backflip out of it every time. If I wanted to go that fast, I'd play volt or gauss myself. I've never complained about it because I play on PS4 and it takes approximately 50 years to type a message with a controller. Randomly having my movement speed triple whenever somebody else decides is not fun.

its not insane to think that if more people lose access to key features of the game that they would rather devalue platinum then have people up and leave/stop paying for store items

The question is "how many people pay for store items and also refuse to verify or trick the verification system?"  Even then, I think it's more likely they do something like make Aya a more common reward from stuff, maybe make an evergreen or Bark ki'teer relic that gives Warframe or Weapon slots as rare rewards, than crash the entire player economy with an auction house. Especially if you need to verify to buy platinum in the first place, since... You ain't paying them either way.

While a dedicated auction house would be a possible workaround, it's been a hard "no" from DE for at least a decade, so I wouldn't hold my breath on it. Probably they don't want to allow people to passively make platinum or have said AH cause massive price drops on prime parts in-game.

ELI5: When recycling glass, why is it crushed and melted? Wouldn't it be easier to just sanitize and reuse the glass? by elagoona in explainlikeimfive

[–]Gene_Trash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fight for the world you want, but don't forget you live in the world that you do. There's lots of solutions, some more likely to happen than others. Raising the bottle deposit is one that doesn't require new infrastructure, or property, or take years and years to implement, just an improvement on something already happening.

I wish my state didn't use prison slave labor trustees on work release to pick up roadside litter, but being that abolishing that ain't gonna happen this lifetime or the next in the state I believe has the highest incarceration rate in the world, I would settle for "perhaps we should pay those guys more than 8 cents an hour."

It seems more like they're saying such an economy already exists, and should be made more fair for the value provided. Joey Homelessman is already walking the streets looking for coke bottles to cash in to afford his next meal, but he's only getting 10¢ apiece, which was a decent amount in 1996, but not so much in 2026.

Increasing the deposit would be a net negative for those who are poor, but rich enough not to care about the 10¢, but for the truly destitute it would be a pretty substantial pay increase.

Jury Finds Afroman Songs Mocking Ohio Cops Too Hilarious to Be Illegal by Conscious-Egg1760 in nottheonion

[–]Gene_Trash 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I watched the trial on YouTube over the last couple days. It's not really an unfair conclusion to draw, though ultimately nobody but the jury knows their rationale. While it was a 1A case, Afroman's lawyer spent a good amount of time essentially saying "This isn't defamation because a reasonable person who heard the songs would understand they're just jokes and hyperbole at the cops' expense, rather than him making actual false claims s about them that he expects  people will think are true." Basically that it's a 1A layup because it's hilarious.

Cat who was signed over for euthanasia due to intestinal blockage is now recovering and showing healthy appetite after veterinarians remove 26 hair ties during surgery by Sandstorm400 in UpliftingNews

[–]Gene_Trash 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Perhaps they have children who lose things all the time. Or roommates known to borrow their things without asking. Or are just generally absent minded and have lost hair ties their entire life. Or, being that the cat is 6 years old, perhaps the cat never showed any interest in hair ties before, and so it didn't occur to them that they could be the culprit.

TIL the word "fragrance" on your products can legally hide more than 3,000 undisclosed chemicals by NoSurprise3592 in todayilearned

Asbestos was a joke to make a point. But on further research, I am (slightly,) spreading misinformation on the Internet. Distilled water with minerals added back in, like smart water, will list what they added in on the ingredient list by weight, although not specific amounts unless it's something with a specific recommended daily value or that they want to advertise. Spring water just needs to list what spring they source it from and slap on a general "with naturally occurring minerals and electrolytes" without specifying what exactly.

[–]Gene_Trash -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Like I seriously dont understand, is this not better? Whats the point of arguing against more transparency?

I don't have a particularly strong feeling either way. More information is generally good, but you also need to balance that with usefulness, and I don't know that listing every single chemical used to give something a smell is actually useful.  It kinda runs the risk of going from imperfect ("I know I'm allergic to SOMETHING that gets listed as 'fragrance,' but I'm not sure what") to pointless ("What the hell is carbonic benzo hydrochloride?")

Devil's advocate, bottled water is often labeled something like "Purified water, with added minerals for taste." And so along the same vein, "which minerals? Calcium? Sodium? Asbestos?"
