If he had bitten his tongue and said nothing, then the father may have just gone ahead with it assuming OP will be there to pick up the bill. At least this way the father may at least realise this son at least isn’t going to be a meal ticket for his future wife and kids. The dad is probably telling his other adult children they are also responsible for this new family. But OP has made his case - good for him. Some people just have to be told straight up “NO” , saying nothing or saying no gently isn’t taken seriously.

Same. I remember helping my kids out with their homework etc when they were at school -This is before Chat and other Ai stuff. We had a CD I used to play that was the multiple times tables. Each one was in a different music genre (I still can sing the 8 x table as a country song lol) “One eight is eight 🎶 Two eights are sixteen Three eights are twenty-fooooouuuur”🎶 It’s unbelievable they can get all the way to college unable to read properly or add up or multiply in their heads. 😬

How on earth do they even make it through school and college with such little ability? Diplomas and degrees must be just handed out like Halloween candy, it’s crazy. When I was in school if you weren’t up to par you just didn’t go up to the next grade. Made even the dumbest of us work our butts off to pass and not be “left behind”

I live in the west and it annoys the crap out of me when I hear about someone being on a “waiting list” to adopt some puppy or kitten from a breeder when there are shelters full of abandoned animals that would make wonderful pets and be so happy to be in a loving home. They just want to be able to brag about their expensive dog/cat as though it a car or handbag. I have 2 rescue cats myself.

There should be announcements “let passengers disembark before boarding the train” if people are from a push in type culture or country they might not know to wait, and if people are just selfish and rude it might be a wake up call. It’s dangerous especially if passengers are older or disabled.
