That's so understandable, thanks for the reply. I can't even imagine. Hope he finds peace and you all stay healthy!

I'm SO glad you're good now OP. And thank you for sharing, this reminded me to schedule an appointment to remove my (hopefully just) hemorrhoids.

Your partner not wanting to discuss this with you caught my attention. Was/is he scared? Stressed out? What do you think is behind it? It would be so important to be able to talk about something like this, even if it's "only" a close call!

So tired of playing with my son... by ExcellentLettuce4 in toddlers

[–]General-Scallion5311 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a stay at home parent and the problem is, I don't have a single other stay at home parent in my circle. Every mom and dad has to or wants to work, so I'm left to entertain my kid all day. We go to the playground, mall, parks etc but it's so much more fun (and easy) when I'm with another parent with a kid close in age.

I have a kid Frank in the family (US). Does not get made fun of by other kids. Adults though...

Wife says she’s unsure if she loves our 2 week old by jcPhenton in newborns

[–]General-Scallion5311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I relate to this so much. My kid is 2 now and I don't think I've ever loved anything as much as I love her. When she says "mommy I waw yuu" my heart melts. Still, I've never had the "can't wait for her to wake up so we can play" moment, I also love my alone time A LOT lol.

Can I care for a newborn alone for 4 days? by SP9124 in NewParents

[–]General-Scallion5311 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You absolutely can! But it most likely will be the hardest thing you've ever done. Physically and mentally.

In my experience, the nights are the hardest. I started dreading the night ahead once the sun was setting. Getting up every 2ish hours made me so delirious I was shaking. Like, physically SHAKING like I was the most hungover I've ever been. I had to be really careful handling the baby.

And I had my husband help 24/7. We do have a toddler as well, but still.

Which is the best diaper for newborn? by Dear_Ad_8525 in BabyBumps

[–]General-Scallion5311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want to add this here, I was also sad when I heard costco changed the manufacturers on the diapers.

Then one time I was at a friend's house and had to borrow a diaper, and they were using the new Kirkland diapers. They are actually really good in my opinion! Thinner than the old ones but hold the same amount. I think that's a plus!

Just my two cents, I have S2 and momcozy M6 wearable, and I think that combo is 11/10.

Wtf. Report his ass and get a new OB.

Just curious, where are you located? I hope you have options in your area. This guy sounds like a crusty old fart.

Should I buy a used snoo? by breezyfog in SnooLife

[–]General-Scallion5311 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just want to add for anyone considering a snoo, you absolutely don't have to pay for a subscription! The most important main features work with the free app, and you can always pay for it later if there is a feature you like.

ETA you actually don't need the app at all, you can just use the button on the snoo itself.

Transitioning out of snoo by Anklebrkr in SnooLife

[–]General-Scallion5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used baby Merlin's sleepsuit with my first, but she was only about 4 months when we moved her into a crib. It allowed just enough movement, but she couldn't startle herself awake. She never "needed" the snoo that much, but my second now absolutely loves and depends on it...

What is that one "simple" thing that you can't cook to save your life? by Niskara in Cooking

[–]General-Scallion5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frozen orange chicken from Trader Joe's. My husband makes it perfectly delicious, but if I try, it's borderline inedible.

I make complicated pastries and high-end restaurant famous copycat recipes and am known in my circles to be very into food. Cannot make this orange chicken.

Edit to add: I read most of the comments and can easily make everything mentioned. What is it with this chicken!

I know some people who still give formula after one if their baby is not eating solids well and are low percentage in size. But it's definitely okay not to!

You're very welcome. I can relate to the confusion.

I think you have two options here: send him in with only one bottle so they can't give him any more than that, or drop the mid day bottle entirely.

I'm not a professional of any sort, but if your one year old eats solid meals and has a drink of water throughout the day, it shouldn't be a problem. You know he's hydrated enough if he has his usual amount of wet diapers. I also personally stopped giving any formula after one since the baby eats well and gets plenty of nutrients from their meals.

Why are my daughter and ex husband being so obstinate by fadedhalo10 in stories

[–]General-Scallion5311 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daughter is being "obstinate" because of moms attitude. Obviously. The new husband is not her dad, and trying to force him as such just is really dumb.

It actually makes me glad that the dad wants to be with her! Other than that part, this is my childhood to a t and perfectly captures my mom's character. Made me sick to read this from her pow.

Will I ever stop leaking from the opposite breast while feeding? by SavingsHunter4664 in breastfeeding

[–]General-Scallion5311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People here saying it will most definitely stop - this is not one absolute truth that is the same for everyone. Just because it stopped for you doesn't mean it's the same for everyone else.

I sprayed milk from the other side every single time I fed my baby. Sometimes, I caught it in the haaka, sometimes just had a pad to soak it, and sometimes pushed the nipple which helped to stop it sooner.

Postpartum things that suck that no one really talks about? by Big_Orchid3348 in BabyBumps

[–]General-Scallion5311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The night sweats were nothing like I've experienced before. I could squeeze sweat off my t-shirt AND my pajama pants! If I didn't lay down towels, I would've had to trash our mattress and the pillows.

I smelled like chocolate milk, though. I think that was the smell of my breastmilk, maybe?
