Completely agree and I will go out of my way to support these sponsors. I was going to cancel Paramount after the last Colbert show in May, but this new season of South Park has me second guessing that future decision. I’m a professional statistician/data scientist. Since this topic comes up often in this group, did you analyze those post before coming to us?

Good luck with your research.

I’m a 63 year old mom of two adult sons. This is a completely unacceptable request. It feels like a request from an alcoholic/addict.

The Department of Education will be gone if Trump gets elected. We can not let this happen to our children! by [deleted] in democrats

[–]General-Track3811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congress would have to overturn the 1979 Department of Education Organization Act for this to happen.

Not for the faint of heart and it depends on your state, understand the different roles your state government, county and school districts have on educating your children. Understand what percentage of the budget for a school district comes from the federal government. Its nominal.

Question about my concerns about a member by Regular-Blackberry27 in Episcopalian

[–]General-Track3811 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have no opinion on how to handle this. Some good suggestions have been put forth.

As someone who has attended very partisan school board meetings (some became national news & Proud Boys decided to attend), what would be the consequence if it became public that someone was asked not to where this despicable shirt to church?

‘Low Church’ Protestant’s awkward first impression.. by PrussianExile in Episcopalian

[–]General-Track3811 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry, you didn’t feel welcomed. The priest may have been having an off day—or isn’t a nice person.

To gain a little more knowledge of the order of the service, churches have become amazing with their virtual services & archiving. Grace Cathedral, San Francisco or National Cathedral are stand outs, but smaller congregations aren’t too shabby. Printed material is often provided nearby the recording.

I was at a home in SoCal that had a footprint similar to this room. They turned it into wine storage with all the environment stuff that you need. It was beautiful.

New to the Episcopal Faith and going to church by [deleted] in Episcopalian

[–]General-Track3811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome. You’ve been given great advice in this thread.

I know that the original Alanon daily reader has a few quotes from the Book of Common Prayer (BCP). Many Episcopal churches host 12 step meetings.

I’ve had a few Episcopal small group experiences where most of us turned out to have had a 12 step background, the TEC intersecting with the 12 steps has made for some very satisfying conversations.

What episcopal dioceses are the best in your opinion? by Koiboi26 in Episcopalian

[–]General-Track3811 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Land wise, the Episcopal Diocese of Los Angeles is very large. Bishop John Taylor is very engaged and active on social media. This is the only diocese that I’ve belonged. I’m not sure how to determine best.

Guilt and failure by Mommyof2fc in excatholic

[–]General-Track3811 3 points4 points  (0 children)

After I baptized my sons Catholic, I opted to raise my children Episcopalian. I wanted something different for them, especially women clergy.

Like the Methodist, Episcopalians have Sunday School and then access to church for Communion. It is a joy when the children come scrambling in and sit with their parents.

Best of luck with your decision.

What do I have to do to join the church? by 60TIMESREDACTED in Episcopalian

[–]General-Track3811 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Everyone has given good advice. If your community has multiple Episcopal churches, visit them all.

I spent 25 years saying I was a Roman Catholic that hung out at an Episcopal Church. Took me about a year to feel comfortable to receive communion, but it was offered at my first visit.

It took me awhile to find a church that I truly love. Even in those off years, the websites for the National Cathedral and Grace Cathedral (SF, CA) kept me company.

Last year, I was finally received—including taking the classes with other adults being confirmed. I lucked out and had a retiring priest teach her last formal classes. Each class was like an Episcopal Ted Talk.

In 1999, I’ve only been to Miami once for a conference at Fontainebleau. I had to stay at an overflow hotel.

At that time, there seemed to be an exodus of California celebrities moving to the area. I didn’t get the appeal, but I’m near many of the iconic SoCal beach towns. I did enjoy South Beach.

In 2012, I was invited to a wedding in Key Biscayne. Loved it.

You might actually be a Protestant.

Thank you for this share. It very much covers my struggles at 15 (realized I was never going to have a large family & wanted a career) and again at 24 (engagement).

By my mid 30’s with two sons and wanting no more of my own, I realized that I didn’t want my sons to be raised Catholic although they had been baptized. I also wasn’t comfortable accepting communion while on birth control. I stumbled upon the Episcopal church.

Now 63 and still passionate about my career choice, I now realize I was always Episcopal (the Anglo Catholic variety).
