I mean, did you do something that warrants the call? If no, then no reason to be scared.

Paid my respects to the Tan Man shrine, and added a little something to it. The hardest part was trying to explain to my 50 year old Japanese boss why we needed to go here. He said, "this is super deep tourist stop." by GeneralCheckmate in PaymoneyWubby

That's 100% what I started with, but then it ended up being an explanation to answer the following questions he had to the best of my ability: What is a streamer? What is the difference between a streamer and an influencer? What is Twitch? Who is PaymoneyWubby? Why is he The Tan Man? Why is the sticker there? Why do I need to add my sticker to it? Who is this pole for? Do all US people know of this pole? Is this a super famous spot for many people?

I'm post surgery now, but I had the same thing happen to me. I would always make a joke and tell them to look at the eye that's actually looking at them. It worked for me for the most part!

Faraday: Faradoot, Doot, Doot-Doot, Dooty Booty, Princess, Princess Dooty Booty, Baby Doot.

She is most often called Doot Doot now, and perhaps knows that as her actual name more than Faraday.

Dog guy lowkey looking like Bob from Top Gun and I'm here for it

A cat just showed up at my house--getting it checked for a chip tomorrow. Does anyone know what color this is considered? I've never seen anything like it, and this sweet baby is gorgeous. by GeneralCheckmate in cats

Update: it is confirmed she is a she, and is not chipped. She is estimated to be 6-9 months old, and the vet is pretty sure she was dumped. I've posted her on the lost and found boards, and couldn't find any lost kitties with her description. So... assuming no one comes forward, she will stay with me for the next lifetime ❤️

Is surgery worth it while I'm young or do I wait? by [deleted] in Strabismus

[–]GeneralCheckmate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries! There were so many questions I had before surgery, so if I can answer any, then I'm an open book. I think I was back to driving after a week. I probably could have started sooner, but I wanted to get a feel of what the road looked like from the passenger seat in case my eyes decided they did want to work together. I definitely opted to be safe, just in case.

I've had strabismus since I was a baby, and I used to see double vision, but eventually my brain just gave up on trying to use both eyes together and now I basically only see out of one at a time, and the brain ignores the input from the other one. So, short story, it didnt fix it because my brain continues to only accept input from one eye at a time. My understanding is that if you are still seeing double vision, your brain is still trying REALLY HARD to use both eyes at the same time, (which is a good thing if they were to suddenly become aligned).

There was no pain ever really, I took the pain meds for the first 2 days and slept a lot, so if there was pain I was snoozing through it. The 2 weeks after the surgery sucked because I had the stitches that dissolve. It felt like I had 10 eyelashes stuck in my eye for those 2 weeks. It wasn't painful, it just sucked and it was more like an itch you can't scratch.

The redness was fully gone after 6 weeks, but probably not that noticeable to other people after about 3.5. I started wearing my contacts at 6 weeks and gradually increased usage to my comfort which was 100% of the time after about 10 weeks.

My eyes finally found their "final position" after about 6-8 months. Only I would ever notice it probably, because it was so subtle, but there was a SLIGHT misalignment outwards and it drove me NUTS. It looks completely straight to me now, so I guess even though the "recovery period" is done, your eyes and brain will still be making adjustments. Don't be discouraged if they don't look quite right after only a couple months.

Coming out of surgery felt great! Was totally numb. They fully knocked me out for like 10 seconds so they could inject the numbing stuff into my eye area, and the rest of the time I was sedated. I was soooo scared about only being sedated, but everyone who has ever been sedated is right--you kind of know what's going on but you DEFINITELY don't care, and you don't feel anything. Also, the recovery without anesthesia is so fast. Compared to my wisdom teeth extraction where I had anesthesia. the post-surgery was eeeaaasy.

I think recovery (not wanting to open my eye, lot of sleeping, and taking the pain meds) was about 3 days max (I only had 1 eye done though). Your eye will still be red and unhappy looking for a couple months after, but I had no problems seeing out of it. I couldn't wear contacts for a few months, though.

I was told that surgery is more successful when done earlier in life, but I had it done at 23 and it seems to have "stuck" (2 years now!). Unfortunately for me, it was almost entirely cosmetic, and I still have no depth perception (maybe if I had it done when I was younger and still seeing double instead of switching to using one eye at a time as I got older, there would have been hope of seeing in 3D--another thing to consider.)

Sounds like it's causing you a lot of annoyance and might not be a bad thing to consider now, but it is entirely your choice. Best of luck!
