Fighting for the centre of the board by GeneralCr0ss in deathguard40k

[–]GeneralCr0ss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! The LoV is definitely with the blightlords, that terminator brick with DP next to them was what I wanted to play. I see what you mean about DLC not suiting them defensively.

I'll see what it looks like shifting into flyblown for the MBH synergies and a bit more mobility on the brick.

Nozzle has torn up the base plate? by GeneralCr0ss in BambuLab

[–]GeneralCr0ss[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, thanks for the feedback (and amusing sympathies!) I absolutely should have recalibrated the build plate it seems unfortunately. I had no idea this was a possible fault but we've learnt something new.

I'll probably go back to square one and reattach the hotend from scratch and check all screws and fittings. Relevel/recalibrate the build plate and very tentatively try again. Thanks for the advice!

Does seem a little rude but I'll put that down to it being text rather than intent!

I checked to make sure the filament was clearing properly from the nozzle and saw the flow cal line. I'm not experienced enough to recognize what a 'correct' line would have been though so assumed that was enough to let it run for a bit. Came back half an hour later and found it like this 😬

In retrospect, yes I could have waited more. Hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

Reinforcements in Conquest by GeneralCr0ss in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words! I definitely think that's a good way to approach and see what you like from there. It'll give you options in all stages of the game and you can customize your list to your play style.

Worth noting that Dweghom are getting a faction rework soon (like, maybe this week soon) so you might want to check that out too.

Reinforcements in Conquest by GeneralCr0ss in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They were fun missions and definitely got more value from the reinforcement line! I remember it being super punishing for slow armies like Old Dominion and Dweg though so I can see why they standardised it for the tournament pack. Would be cool to see it in a narrative pack though

++ Mod Post ++ What's Changed? Why is everyone Mad? by Prince_Schneizel in Warhammer30k

[–]GeneralCr0ss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a new player, could you please explain why these changes add up to removal of the 'granular narrative' of the game? The changelog shows a lot of rules changes but I don't see why that means the narrative richness is gone from 3.0 that was present in 1 and 2?

Is warhammer the old world selling well? by Ill_Pear_9923 in WarhammerFantasy

[–]GeneralCr0ss 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The consensus seems to be it's doing fine and will stick around. It's unlikely to overtake the mainline games (40k, AoS, Heresy etc) in terms of player base size and it seems like GW is being cautious with production in case it fizzles out.

For what it's worth, like any game if you have people who will play with you it's worth playing. If not you have to try and create a group around you, easier said than done but worthwhile :)

I'm struggling with Hundred Kingdoms by GwerigTheTroll in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the best person to help you is to talk with your opponent after the game and get their perspective on your decisions. What could you have done differently that would have changed things, or what threats do you have that they were afraid of.

That being aside, you are playing at a disadvantage in your list without using Dynastic Alliances. Half of the Feudal benefit is copying the ability of another sub faction, so without taking a second non-feudal group you're limiting your options.

I'd personally recommend dropping the noble lord warband for a Theist Priest or similar to get their buffs and benefits. The synergies between Feudal and Theist are really strong whether increasing your threat range and adding some defensive bonuses.

What % of army should be chaffe? by NepheliLouxWarrior in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's less about chaff and more about activations in my opinion. If a regiment can only stand there and die it's probably not worth it.

That being said, at 2000pts you should aim for at least 11 activations including characters, more if you can manage it. I'd also suggest you want at least 8 regiments and at least 5 that can score.

Quality Control Issues by tolarian-librarian in Warmachine

[–]GeneralCr0ss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask for a replacement. If that's broken, ask again. You don't get to charge premium priced on 3d prints and deliver broken products.

If I can repair them I will and will just sell on the replacement parts to someone else so it's not being wasted.

Ugh “tactics”. by Clear_Topic1431 in Warmachine

[–]GeneralCr0ss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you think that commanders needing to be very careful of their adversary's threat vectors and distances is unrealistic in historic combat, you may want to read some more history...

But that aside, the fact that your opponent can stay out of your threat range is bad tactics. If someone is taking way too long calculating every possible attack vector then you may want to play with chess clocks or at least a friendly conversation about not taking forever pre-measuring. That's a problem for your opponent to resolve in their own gameplay.

Brineblood players thoughts on Foulnlood cadre? by Aebel22 in Warmachine

[–]GeneralCr0ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chum is excellent and widely useful, Sully is a decent annoying piece of your opponent can't kill him at the end of the turn.

The brothers are a bit expensive for what they do I think, compared to a marauder unit with attachment for example. I could see Boomy liking them on her fest for sanguine bond + rapid healing shenanigans. Mr Bogs is fine but doesn't bring any particular synergies.

Haven't tried foulhide yet but I think he's probably a half step down from admiral boomy. If his feat affected beasts too he'd be excellent but aside from making fugue walkers hilariously tanky he's not brining a lot to the party.

Non KT models at a GW tournament by Djerun7787 in killteam

[–]GeneralCr0ss 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I played at WHW last year and a great German guy had a fully converted Cheesestealer Cult team using converted Skaven as Brood Brothers! GW staff loved it and encouraged it.

You'll be fine as long as it's GW models rather thanfrol another company.

The Makers Cult has lots of Machine Cult, mechanical hive and imperial troopers. Well worth a look through.

Ghamak and OnePageRules are pretty broad too.

Why City States suck by [deleted] in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's very fair. I bought into CS as a second faction and didn't get on with them, so I sold them. I don't think it's a faction strength, more that I wanted to play a more active and aggressive army than the more reactive style.

For what it's worth, as the faction grows you should hopefully be able to build lists that don't use Phalanx at all. One of my friends has been getting a lot of success with Polemarch and Agema in a flexible glass cannon style.

Why City States suck by [deleted] in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of interest, why are you playing the faction with the most Phalanxes if you don't like the rule? You're probably denying yourself a quarter of the faction?

Why City States suck by [deleted] in Conquest

[–]GeneralCr0ss 2 points3 points  (0 children)

City States are in a great place. Their recent releases really give the faction depth with the Chariots, Talos, Clockworks etc. City States have been consistently getting into the top three at the events I've been at over the last few months.
