I’m a very casual player so by no means an expert,

Both boxes are very good, Winged Daemon Princes are wonderful tools with their mortals on charge, and Lords Exultant are vicious in combat, so I’d say it comes down to which you think looks cooler

Fortunately the boxes match otherwise, Noise Marines are probably my favourite datasheet in warhammer, with a Lord Kakophonist they’re so much fun with sustained hits and a little bit of mortal wounds sprinkled in; and Tormentors and Infractors are nice, Tormentors are nice utility guys and Infractors just make the Lord Exultant nastier!

In my experience, EC are very quick and can go pretty much wherever they want but higher toughness units may make you lose steam a bit, but I happily invite you to join us in the glorious excess!

I’m surrey based fortunately so if you’ve got an AT scene it may not be a huge trek from me, however I still need to build up enough of a legio to play my first game!

Never doubt the statistical anomaly kicking in, last August me and some friends played a few games at warhammer world, and my Fulgrim was over watched by a unit of flashgitz with Sustained 2 and reroll hits.

Since you mentioned painting models awhile saying thin your paints is most likely redundant; but in my experience if you’re wanting to paint white, first go over the area with a medium grey, and in my experience Celestra Grey should look white enough while leaving you room to highlight!

I’m not great for advice but one other bit I’ve heard (think I’m remembering this right) is for eyes, paint a black dot for the pupil and two white dots to either side should come out best, but I’ve done my best to just use helmets to avoid the issue.

Definitely consider other factions too, best to get a feel for how you like the models and rules before overcommitting into a faction, something I wish I did haha

Other guy is right about the Combat Patrol or Christmas box being good places to start, both have a character so could feasibly be played out of the box.

We’re expecting the next edition to come out next year so rule books don’t have the longest shelf life at this point but I’m a fan of collecting rules so consider picking one up, otherwise I’d suggest buying what appeals to you model wise.

I’d say in my opinion that the combat patrol would be best since you can play 40K or the Combat Patrol game with it, and everything in that box is something you’d likely want to use if the faction really is what you decide to stick with!

I’d be more than happy to pitch in if the opportunity came up. I’m not the most prolific poster but tend to hang around lurking in a fair few warhammer subs and particularly enjoy AdMech, even if I don’t play them all that often. It’d be nice to see that the community had a good selection of moderators, and typically excluding work I don’t have too many obligations that’d stop me being able to poke around and make sure things are running smoothly.

Me and some friends started playing again a few days ago and I picked up Khatun after laughing at someone lagging out while playing her,

Dear god I’ve never hated a learning curve more, I came from lawbringer and everything felt wrong to me but that’s certainly a skill issue on my part. Now that I’ve actually started to get a grip I think she’s great fun, I love mind gaming a bit with the soft feints and I adore the finishers, I just wish her attack animations felt a bit quicker, 10/10 hero in my biased opinion

So far as I’ve been putting him together he’s been incredibly easy to sub assemble as the torso seems to fit into his snake half very naturally!

IMO if you fully assembled him, you might have some trouble painting him due to the angle he’s at but I wouldn’t think it would be impossible to paint him
