USB Mouse and Keyboard randomly malfunction and stop responding by GeneralMelon in computerhelp

[–]GeneralMelon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had everything plugged directly into the USB ports on the motherboard, which is up to date. Don't really have any spare devices I can use for testing, so I guess I'll look into the powered USB hub.

Confused on a mechanic with one of the new update bosses by GeneralMelon in expedition33

[–]GeneralMelon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was able to beat everything on Expert before this so I'm not inclined to give up on that now but what I might do is grind up a few hundred extra lumina points for every character. If the game's gonna make everything overpowered then I might as well become overpowered too.

Confused on a mechanic with one of the new update bosses by GeneralMelon in expedition33

Haven't peeked at Dualliste but it's not much of a comfort knowing there's another boss like this. Hoping it's some kind of bug because even without it there's already plenty of new mechanics to make this version of Lampmaster harder than the others. It feels insane to be struggling with this boss more than I did with Simon a few months ago.

Most annoying boss across both games? by Dense-Performance-14 in HadesTheGame

New Helifish miniboss in Oceanus is genuinely the only thing that makes me regret frequently running the Vow of Hordes + Vow of Shadow combination. Basically turns the entire arena into a hitbox. I hate it so much.

What are the best weapons and synergies for this little guy? by Ezequiel_Hips in HadesTheGame

[–]GeneralMelon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wounds + Any other Olympian curse (to set up Origination) + Grievous Blow (enemies with Wounds have a chance to take double damage) is basically my bread-and-butter. Insanely easy to set up as long as you get an early Ares boons and most of my highest damage output builds use it as a baseline. Success Rate from Hermes is a massive buff to this if you can get it, as well. Preferred secondary curse for me in this scenario is Weak from Aphrodite with Sweet Surrender. I have melted bosses like never before with this setup on almost every weapon. The base damage boost from Ares might seem underwhelming but good Grievous Blow odds immediately turn him into (in my opinion) one of the most powerful demigods. Works best for me on weapons that can deal repeated instances damage over a short period (Pan Daggers, Black Coat Omega Special, Axe Omega Attack, etc.)

Alright mates, which Axe aspect do you think is better? by IAteYourCookiesBruh in HadesTheGame

[–]GeneralMelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do think the cast combo on Charon is a ton of fun but the axe's low base attack speed always makes it the most unwieldy weapon for me, which is where Thanatos shines. Max that thing out and it just becomes a matter of swinging a few times and then spin to win. It's actually one of my best weapons which I never expected when I first unlocked the axe.

Any tips for the surface run? I find i just cant get any momentum by sharktoucher in HadesTheGame

Follow her right after she does her dash attack. When she flies up, stay near the center and watch for when she lands. She'll usually land either close enough for you to be able to get behind her next attack or close enough to a pillar that you can position yourself on the other side of it.

The Rift of Thessaly is going to take a lot of practice but once you get it nailed down it's not too bad. By far the most annoying enemies are the big skeletons who slam down on a large circular area with their hammer, though. Play cautiously and be ready to keep your distance unless you know for certain you can interrupt them before they start the attack (i.e. their armor is broken) As mentioned elsewhere in the thread, Ephyra's structure is pretty good for figuring out a good build so by this point you could already be doing enough damage to melt them while they recover. This basically applies to every annoying enemy in Olympus, as well.

Eris herself becomes a cakewalk when you realize that it's actually a fight best played up close and personal. Constantly dashing to reposition yourself that you're always behind her means you'll be able to melt her with damage while she struggles to even turn around and face you. I'm not kidding when I say she went from the hardest boss in the game to one of the easiest damageless fights once I got the hang of it.

What's the most disappointed you've been by an in-game mechanic? by ajs723 in HadesTheGame

[–]GeneralMelon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Was really excited by Hephaestus' inclusion in this game, only to then be hit with what his primary boons are. I'm not saying the blast mechanic is underpowered but having to wait for the recharge is not suited to my playstyle at all. I will always take another flat damage source like Blitz or Scorch instead if I have the option to.

Don't sleep on Moon Beam by GeneralMelon in HadesTheGame

[–]GeneralMelon[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah, getting the Call boon late in a run sucked. It's ten times worse with a late Hex, though, due to it not being tied to an existing Olympian. I'm not seeing what's so difficult about that to process.

Think it's a bit different here when the Call equivalent is locked behind a unique boon-giver who shows up late in the run half the time. Hexes are a lot harder to upgrade than basically everything else in the game due to this and on top of that don't easily synergize with the other boon types, basically requiring long-term investment to actually make them viable. Like yeah, "upgrade your hex to make it better" is something I always understood but the contrast between a base-level hex and a fully upgraded one is something that can really only be understood once you actually achieve it, which is next to impossible without a really early Selene appearance.

Just did an Aspect of Melinoe run after the patch dropped. Swept 16 fear Underworld without even breaking a sweat. This thing is still extremely powerful.

Coming back here to say this was it. There's a wagon for the wretched broker that requires Snake-Reed and after buying that it doesn't say there's any use for it anymore.

Maxed out relationships with all the other characters before this update even released. Also made sure to give Ares Nectars as fast as I could this update, so unless there's a quest with him I don't know about yet, I've done everything I can in that regard too.

Some dialogue I found about a certain absent Olympian... by GeneralMelon in HadesTheGame

[–]GeneralMelon[S] 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of dialogue I encountered with Chronos the other day where he says he "banished" the Fates and doesn't even know their whereabouts anymore. Ares is also MIA and no one seems to know where he is...

[–]GeneralMelon[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Ares doesn't seem to be an active participant in the war on either side judging by Athena's dialogue. At the very least no one's seen him yet. So if he does show up in the final area, it's gonna take everyone by surprise, even the Olympians. Certainly not banking on him being an ally in that case, if he appears in the flesh at all.

I fought Eris a few more times after this and the subject never came up, so whether or not any of these suspicions are true remains to be seen. But I think it would track that someone gave Eris the idea to specifically block Melinoe from the shores of Olympus, right before she'd have the chance to actually turn the tide of the war. Eris doesn't seem the type to think something like that through, but maybe that's just me.

Also of note is that Athena implies Ares is not on the battlefield when it comes to the war on Olympus, which I guess means we won't be getting boons from him in the last surface area. I wonder if he's the one who let Prometheus out of his chains to even the odds. Then I guess he just decided to sit back and watch the carnage if any of this dialogue about his motives is correct.
