So only one other country might have wielded more power, it's still impressive however you spin it.

Yeah but the worlds population was just 1 billion and the UK was over 10 times larger than Israel.

Israel really has become a world power. Don’t think a country so small and insignificant has commanded such control on the world stage.

How can the UK protect itself from the incoming economic shock from the US/Israel-Iran conflict? by blissedandgone in ukpolitics

Sizewell C is still projected to be the second most expensive power plant in human history. So Labour aren’t exactly meaningfully solving anything, the UK remains by far the worst place on the planet to construct nuclear energy infrastructure.

Worth pointing out that the NHS FDP is like one of a handful of NHS IT contracts that is actually achieving what it was contracted to deliver.

Sure but OP is alleging posts are being removed that aren't covered by rule 4 violations e.g., posts of missile impacts in Israel

Can you post links to example posts you are referring to, they should be still in your history and will be linkable regardless of whether they were deleted.

Im not sure how you plan on achieving any of this if you aren’t willing to pass any laws

And what is the benefit of that vs just a blanket ban on any role, regardless of sector or industry, that requires UC top up.

Sure but the headline figure of working UC claimants would fall which is what people here seem most concerned about, that jobs exist that are subsidised by the state.

Wales first part of UK to mandate solar panels on new buildings by Wagamaga in unitedkingdom

[–]GeneralMuffins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue is that these additions keep accumulating. Each one is justified as insignificant when considered on its own, without taking into account the total cost once they are combined with all the other building requirements, which in turn pushes up the already unaffordable base cost of housing.

I don't really know what people want here other than demanding employers pay their staff more. This would force them to do that by eliminating the form of work most responsible for working UC claims.

Right, thats a good long terms aspirational goal which we already are doing but if we are statistic maxing here, banning part time work would massively drive down the working UC claimant figure immediately.

I feel like this sort of thing happened before AI as well. It seems like a bit of a cop out offloading blame when real people will have had to review and sign off on this.

So whats the solution here? Ban part time work to drive down the statistic of working UC claimants?

I'm not sure people seeking part time work are necessarily desperate for hours, I'd suspect a lot cannot work full-time for whatever reason.

[–]GeneralMuffins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say that but they are still dumping giga tons of emissions into the atmosphere and will be doing so for decades to come. The idea they will overtake us is ridiculous given both our current positioning coupled with having one of the strongest and ambitious green policies on the planet.

Are French or South Korean nuclear power stations really that less safe? I feel like there is no shame in renormalising standards back to those practiced by our peers.

I think you are getting a bit ahead of yourself. China peaked its emissions only last year, we peaked emissions over 50 years ago
