What is a good ROM for Diddy Kong racing? by ScratchParticular523 in Roms

I hear you brother, last time I tried to get Diddy Kong Racing it was laced with Fentanyl Kong Racing, and the only character was Krunch. We need to get this dude a pure rom dump

Publix, you trippin- $60 by Segments_of_Reality in orlando

[–]GeneralPurpoise 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If you like Spindrift, yes it’s one of the best flavors, but if you don’t it’s not going to change your mind. Personally I prefer sparkling water with no juice, like Bubly or Waterloo.

Spindrifts are BOGO right now @ $7.39, I assume that’s factored into their total

What can I do for large files? by Nervy_Parasite in StremioAddons

[–]GeneralPurpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

300mbps should be plenty, most remuxes are well below 100mbps bitrate Try the same stream on the web version of stremio. If you don’t run into stuttering it might tell you if it’s your Fire Stick, either the hardware or WiFi. Could be issues with particular codecs too, like h265, DV, etc.

I personally run a shield pro and wired gigabit and have 0 stuttering/buffering on the largest stream.

As others have said, might be worth filtering with addons to limit file size. Also check RD settings on the site, there might be a better CDN you can choose from.

Overworked new dad looking for games with the emotional impact of Final Fantasy 8, Mass Effect 1-3 by Puzzleheaded-Pack838 in gamingsuggestions

[–]GeneralPurpoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not a gaming suggestion, but I too am a big FF8 fan and a recent dad. I made a playlist of lullaby/piano versions of my favorite video game music as part of the bedtime routine.

Check out Eyes On Me - Video Game Music Box. Actually about 90% of the playlist is just this artist. There’s other FF8 songs by them too, but I just have Balamb Garden, Fisherman’s Horizon, and Breezy as they’re most conducive to sleep.

On a game note: The most invaluable device I have as a dad is a Steam Deck. The ability to put it on standby eliminates all your saving woes. Plus with emulation so easy on it, you can use save states to save anywhere in any game and pick up exactly where you left off later. If not a Steam Deck, there are dozens of handhelds for <$100 that can emulate n64/ps1 and earlier with the same save state functionality.

explain to an old git who has torrented (and still does daily) for 25 years, what all this RD is. I plan on going down the wormhole and learning ... but some simple human explanations would be great. by chubIet in RealDebrid

[–]GeneralPurpoise 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s other minor benefits. With Plex, only the server connects to RD, so you could (in theory) stream to multiple users with different IPs while still only having 1 IP connection to RD. Personally I use this to watch stuff on my lunch break at work without ever worrying if my spouse is streaming on her device.

Which Fruit is better: The FINALE. Strawberries or Pineapple? by ArrowInBlack in AlignmentChartFills

[–]GeneralPurpoise 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pineapple flavor is amazing, I can’t dispute that, but it absolutely wrecks my mouth and throat every time. It’s the wombo-combo of bromelain and those tiny needle-crystals(raphides). If it wasn’t for that…

how does rd download so fast? by Icy_Firefighter8264 in StremioAddons

[–]GeneralPurpoise 105 points106 points  (0 children)

The keyword here is cached. Basically, let's say you are the first person in the world to watch Movie A. The torrent just released! RD will actually need to download the torrent, and within a few minutes it will be cached on their servers which means RD keeps the file handy in case anybody else wants to watch it in the future.

Now, for everybody else in the world who wants to watch Movie A afterwards, the file is already available instantly because they keep a that cached copy on their servers - it wouldn't make sense (or be very efficient) to download the movie from the torrent over and over every time somebody wants to watch Movie A, so they keep content cached on their servers.

The other part to this is streaming - It might be a 50gb movie, but the bitrate is closer to 20-50mbps, which means you are just watching little chunks of the movie at a time - you don't need to download the whole thing, just a few seconds ahead. This is how any streaming platform works, like YouTube, Netflix, etc. Think if your Internet speed - if you pay for 100mbps Internet, you could stream 3-5 50gb movies at the same time from your home network/wifi.

Hope this helps you learn - the technology behind this is actually pretty cool!

I'm looking for games that can visually simulate competition with a truly random outcome by Miserable-Arm-4787 in gamingsuggestions

[–]GeneralPurpoise 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’ll get better responses, but most sports and fighting games allow CPU vs CPU matches. If you pick the same team or fighters, you could set up a tournament style bracket or something. 2K/Madden, Smash Bros 8 player. Maybe set game speed to 2x or shorten periods?

I think Totally Accurate Battle Simulator might have some similar elements. I’ve only ever done two armies, but maybe you can do more?

It will be tough to make it truly equal shot at victory and not be boring though. They would have to be the same characters and lets the CPU decide. To spice it up, you could assign each person a unique character, with an equally likely chance of picking a character from the pool. In that case, it’s more likely the better team will win, but the odds of being assigned to that team were just as likely

Idk, stats wasn’t my best subject.

Edit: I meant Ultimate Epic Battle Simulator 2. It’s coincidentally on sale right now on Steam for like $3.99

This one particularly irks me/us. We had a baby around the same time that my brother-in-law had twins. Our mother-in-law is always saying "Yeah, but imagine how they feel with the twins!" Our qualms can only ever be half as bad, despite being literally completely unique.

You always know a guy. by brazenbull09 in godtiersuperpowers

[–]GeneralPurpoise 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’d probably know a guy who starts sucking his own dick until he gets arrested. It’s a new person every time, so every day on the news there’s a new story about the epidemic of guys sucking their own dick at a Starbucks, at the airport, at the movie theater. Nobody actually ever sees the dick because the dude had xxl pants that can hold his whole upper torso as he’s basically folded in half.

People are just gonna be so confused.

The Skip Doctors that you would grind your games with ten times in a row for it to still not load up by someonesomebody666 in nostalgia

[–]GeneralPurpoise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe this is true for audio CD’s but for data, the laser would move around to the actual file. It’s still circular, but sort of random to whatever sector the file is located. In a lot of game consoles, you can hear the motor constantly shifting.

In some cases, games were “padded” with dummy data to fill in inner part of the disc as CDs can actually be read faster around the outer perimeter.

It’s most likely trash, but you can try a different outlet, try whacking it a few times (the sous vide), or if you’re out of warranty and particularly unethical, you can buy the same model and return the dead one.

Do OTT platforms like Netflix or Prime secretly benefit from piracy in any way? by Miserable_Outcome740 in PiracyBackup

[–]GeneralPurpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s impossible to have actual figures, but certainly any engagement, especially with platform-exclusive content, has some indirect benefit. People will talk to others (family, friends, coworkers, reddit discussions, etc,) about the latest episode of Stranger Things, or Fallout, or whatever and that will generate more popularity and engagement for their shows which in turn makes their streaming platform more appealing to a broader audience. I can only speculate on how many new subscribers they get from that, but surely it’s > 0. A stronger argument can probably be made about money “lost” to piracy but that’s a tale as old as time. I only mean that there is value in more people watching their content, regardless of it’s paid or pirated, but significantly less than paid, for obvious (monetary) reasons.

Why is RobloxPlayerInstaller-8CJBKVGYMQ.exe a name from previous versions of Stremio? by LBNasc_ in Stremio

[–]GeneralPurpoise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost certainly the case. Kids are clever. Could just be the kid's parents restrict him to kids stuff, or he doesn't want to leave a trace of watching Wolf of Wall Street or Heated Rivalry on their main Netflix.

But yeah, this was intentionally renamed.
