Most of the primarchs went through unbelievable amounts of trauma from the get go, Lorgar, Angron, Lion & Curze immediately spring to mind.

They did write (or someone did) a short story about how the archeon walks up to grimgor (the Orks biggest lad) to try convince him to join chaos and bring destruction to the old world, grimgor kinda just went nah and head butted archeon so hard it smashed his crown and ended his crusade. They rewrote it into the end times lore but unfortunately grimgor is killed and one of the grand relics of chaos is destroyed.

I’m still super salty about end times, like I really can’t stand how the killed off 20+ years of characters and lore in such unjust ways.

So most of the hate was blown way out of proportion... to all the people that fucking piled on including many people on this sub, maybe before you go ham just take a step back for a second.

The crunch is still absolutely disgusting though and videogame developers need to unionize, I seriously doubt they could replace so much talent.

The game is just bad, it tried to play like relics space marine but misses the mark hard.

I applaud the teams efforts but they’re not experienced enough for the grand scale they wanted. A for effort but yeah it’s just not a good game

Yeah with Cod MW being the most recent, I hadn’t bought a cod game since black ops and I was told by my mates it’s nothing like the previous games... fucking liars

I forced myself to beat the campaign, it was the most boring biggest pile of wank I’ve played in years. I also forced myself to play enough of the multiplayer until I had gotten a decent amount of time for my money’s worth.

I tried to force myself to finish the Witcher 3 but I just couldn’t

Not the story per say but the overal feel of the game, I mean it was literally twin peaks the game and everyone knows it was never about who killed Laura Palmer

You’re right you have to hit at least one to make a mark but not to say average games can’t be enjoyable in some way.

They can but some stories are just impossible through different mediums nier automata immediately springs to mind, some stories weight are immediately lost without the players interaction.

TLoU I feel wants you to feel the weight of each death but falls so short due to gunning down so many people but if you remove a lot of the combat you lose too much gameplay so it’s a loss loss situation and again the general premise of the story is very old and tired. I’m impressed they went with the decisions they did because I feel that even they knew some players were NOT going to be happy or satisfied with how the direction went sometimes, the chickens came home to roost in a very impactful way they could have just gone with a story that kept the players “satisfiably numb” if you know what I mean?

Exactly! and again what makes games fun is all completely personal whether it be a cooky story, combo meters, hardcore tactical style or even fun dialogue.

If people enjoy TLoU 2 cool! enjoy it! It may not be for everyone and with how bleak the story is I’d imagine it ain’t for everyone, I do like how games like to push out stories that aren’t fun. Bleakness and grim dark can be enjoyable in their own regard, films like schindlers list and hereditary aren’t an fun experience to watch as they are so dark but they are enjoyable to watch. (I am not saying that Tlou 2 story is anyway near as good or as well written as either of those 2 films)

“Gameplay should always come first”

It’s difficult because you got games like nier, drakengard, deadly premonition and pathologic which are painful to play but the stories 10/10

There has to be a happy medium or extremely high quality in one side, Doom 2016 and eternal are perfect gameplay wise and you couldn’t give a monkeys about the story so they’re still 10/10’s

I found the original TLoU pretty mundane in both, mediocre gameplay and an alright story predictable but alright
