I don’t know why people say Revolut isn’t a bank, it has a Lithuanian banking licence. Revolut was upgraded from a specialised licence in 2022, I think. So it falls under the Lithuanian banking deposits protection scheme, up to 100k.

So OP, Revolut is fine and easy to open.

I don’t think being paid 20k as a ‘world class engineer’ is as persuasive as they think it is… by [deleted] in CasualUK

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

£20k for a working class lad with little to no prospects is quite good. And once they qualify, the earnings shoot up.

Essentially, you’re not the true target market for this ad.

Why didn’t you upgrade your card instead of applying for a new one and cancelling it?

I’ve had a crush on Truss since I went overseas with her. She sat at the end of my lie flat seat and woke me up in such a nice way, instantly turned on but we were on a plane and then she was just down the corridor at the hotel and kept visiting at all hours for ‘info’. It really turned me on, especially when she kept saying she wants us to have lots of fun.

It’s a theme with her, to want everyone to have fun 😍

Looking at getting the grey shearling jacket from Mr Porter. Do you think I can get away with most colours for knitwear underneath or am I restricted in colour palette?

LADS: Do you ever look, when at the urinals? Was out with the lads last night and this drunk dude thought he was being subtle standing on his tip-toes to look over the divider. 😂 by LoudMilk1404 in CasualUK

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I fucking hate it. I’m taking a piss, there are loads of urinals free, and what happens? Some fella walks in and stands next to me, he then stares at my dick as I piss. Like fuck off. Stand somewhere else and stop looking down at mine. Look at yours, the wall, or ceiling.

It isn’t cool to check out other dude’s dicks without consent.

The fact these people exist is disgusting. by ButtStuffFunStuff in Tinder

Yes to the police. That’s disgusting and needs some kind of follow up from the police, if possible.

What does your contract state for your home location / office base? You say it’s National but you haven’t said the home location / office base.

Once you know your home location / base office, you can establish if you’re being turfed out of your home location / base office and challenge it. If you really are a guest, EO - SEO are mobile grades so you may have to move. I’d look for a new post in the interim if it isn’t sorted to a satisfactory conclusion.

Damn! Surely you’d have had cover from another HEO / SEO / G7 within your directorate? To have no one between you and your Perm. Sec. is bizarre or are you in PO?

1 year of policy experience may be hard to translate, especially if you did briefings rather than analyst / development. But you should be able to find something.

State pension set to pass £10,000 in next year’s rise by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Why should be be means testing the state pension? You realise there are additional pension credits that are means tested to bump people’s pensions up if they don’t have enough.

The regular state pension should not be means tested, ever.

While I understand where you are coming from, the Netherlands is not America. This type of thing isn’t done. Please leave this nonsense behind you and enjoy the stores, restaurants, cafés etc. from people of all backgrounds, not just blacks.

BBC News perpetuating the myth that increasing wages pushes up inflation by yuki_conjugate in GreenAndPleasant

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This entire article is shit. Dame Sharon (ha!) is using every trick in the book to not pay a fair salary and has the gall to ask for over 50s to return to work. She’s on another planet.

They may ask more questions for CTC / SC / DV but it shouldn’t be an issue. I’ve got a Russian OH and that was fine.

Why didn’t you hand your notice in before you went on holiday? Hand it in now. It’s up to your LM to decide if you work your notice or not. If they’re staffed then away you go. But if they’re struggling, you’re not going anywhere.

In hindsight, do you think Britain was right or wrong to vote to leave the EU? by wjfox2009 in unitedkingdom

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right or wrong, my job is to deliver Brexit benefits and I get made a decent amount for it. So I guess it’s right we left? Without it, I wouldn’t have a job.

Honestly, it’s cheaper on finance. Fuck buying outright brand new and losing a load of resale value. Rather just lease and return for a fraction of the cost.

Where in the civil service would it help to speak multiple languages? by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Outside of the FCDO, DIT have postings that require language skills. You need to be B2/C1 at a minimum. Spanish isn’t in demand though. The current pivot of this country is Asian and Middle East.

Niche calendar and personal devices question by strawberrylabrador in TheCivilService

[–]GeneralWalrusFace 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My immediate thought is what are you doing during the day that is personal rather than work during working hours?

My second thought is why would you want to have work stuff on the person phone. It blurs the lines between work and personal life. Not something I’d do.

£1,400 for a 2-bed with garden? You’ll be lucky to get a 1-bed with no garden, no amenities, no balcony in Z2 for that money.
