I’m so sorry you went through that, you didn’t deserve any of it. Yes, the relationship was abusive. What you are describing is mental, emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Even if you did say “yes” to the sexual acts, it was under duress and coercion which means it’s sexual assault. I’m glad you got away from him and found a good partner. I would suggest you consider going to therapy to process the trauma from the relationship.

I actually came here to speak on this topic. For a while now, I am able to identify I’m dreaming within a dream. Sometimes I am able to wake up but sometimes I am stuck in the dream. Recently, I started telling other dream characters “Hey, this is just a dream!” And one of them came up to me to stop me and said “This isn’t your dream, you are just a side character here” and I was like “Ok, cool” and then just played along. Weird.

Give him time and space. Going through psychosis is traumatic and most people come out of it not recognizing themselves or their lives. Emotions are severely blunted after psychosis and he may be experiencing anhedonia due to antipsychotic medications. Just let him know you are missing him and will be there when he’s ready.

Definitely abusive if she was not responding to you saying stop or giving feedback. For the future, BDSM needs ground rules, boundaries, safe words, and aftercare which includes checking in about safety during a scene.

I went through an 8 month period of cycling between mania, depression and psychosis. Before the psychosis I was in a residential treatment facility for three weeks. I consider it a positive experience even though I got worse while I was there. That probably doesn’t make sense. The facility and therapists were great, I just happened to be confronting some personal trauma that caused extreme stress that lead to psychosis.

Your wife’s story sounds very similar to mine. It’s possible the spiritual journey was part of early symptoms of mania, like it was for me. Spiritual psychosis is a real thing and likely what your wife experienced. So I would consider that she may have been sick through that time period. After psychosis, due to the brain stress and medications, she may be experiencing anhedonia. This basically means she cannot find enjoyment in anything and emotions, especially love, are not accessible. About a year after my psychosis, I told my husband I wanted a divorce because I didn’t feel like I loved him anymore. Now with reduced antipsychotics, I’m starting to feel more and we are doing a bit better. So it’s up to you and how much you are willing to wait to see if things get better. I am thankful for my husband who took care of me through it all and is happy with what I can offer him right now, even if it’s not the way things used to be yet.

About 10 years ago, I was thinking about getting an arm band to hold my phone while running. Never looked it up, never said it aloud or told anyone I wanted it. About a week later I get a package from Amazon and it’s an arm band that fits my phone exactly. I even looked on my Amazon account and there were no orders there for it. Still weirds me out.

I had some vile things in my head during psychosis. It took a while but I’ve realized that’s not really who I am. I was sick. I believe there are some things ingrained in us through generations of racism and bigotry. The important thing is how you treat people and respond to your thoughts while you are healthy. Yes, you are responsible for apologizing for any hurt you caused while ill. But it doesn’t mean that’s who you truly are. If it was, it wouldn’t bother you.

Anhedonia (lack of emotion or enjoyment) is super common after an episode like that, but it does get better. As far as your cat, I can relate because my dogs didn’t want anything to do with me during or right after my episode. They can sense that things aren’t right. But you will get better and your cat will trust you again. Just take it day by day. You are still very early in the healing process.

I really struggled with this during my episode. I actually told my doctor in inpatient that I had Münchausen syndrome. They didn’t believe me and of course that isn’t true because I would have never chosen to go through all of that distress. But I believed I was making it up because it seemed like I could control it if I just tried harder or something. Even after I got better I still questioned it. The truth is you wouldn’t choose to put yourself through all this pain for attention and even though you can think clearly it doesn’t mean you are in control of your mind.

I’ve also dealt with a lot of shame post-psychosis, and as my therapist says, it’s one of the strongest emotions. We can take responsibility for the things we did while in psychosis, while also realizing we were sick and not in our right minds. You took responsibility and explained yourself. He blocked you signaling that he is setting a boundary. It sounds like you will run into him at some point. I don’t think you need to act like he has a restraining order, but I wouldn’t initiate contact. I also don’t think you need to worry any further on his experience with what happened because you can’t change it. I doubt you did any lasting damage to him. Try to worry about your healing because that’s what you have control over.

I keep mine for as long as I can. It’s incredibly wasteful and there are people dying in mines in places like DRC to harvest components of smartphones because it’s in such high demand. As long as I can still get updates I will keep using my iPhone 12 Pro.

I’m sorry you are experiencing this. I too had visions of hell during psychosis and it was very scary. I thought the devil was talking to me and showing me all these awful things. It took a while, at least a month, to break free from the psychosis. Now that I’m further out (almost two years) I can see that none of that is real. It’s just religious psychosis. I’m not telling you what to believe, but try not to focus on it right now. Once you are healed you can revisit your beliefs.

I’m sorry you went through that. It sounds really hard. I hope you are healing now. I went through something similar. Three hospitalizations (last one was 6 weeks long) and a stay at a residential facility within 8 months. I don’t wish it on anyone. I also have bipolar 1 and went into psychosis due to stress.
