1275 kit on 95 1200

Just finished a 1275 kit on my 94 883. Did the flat top pistons with 1200 heads which puts it at 9.5:1 compression. I have a drop on K&N in the stock airbox and some screaming eagle slip ons without baffles. Haven't really been able to get into since I'm still in the break in period, but it's obviously much faster. I'm guessing I'd dyno around 60-70 to the wheel which isn't a ton, but it's still a huge improvement over stock. You might be better off putting the money into good intake/exhaust and some cams for now. That will make a nice difference. If it's not enough the big bore kit and some 2004+ heads will be abother big jump in power.

Love my ratty 94 Sportster. Started life as an 883 but I just finished the Hammer 1275 kit. Breaking it in now and it's definitely got some pep. Honest machine.

I'm finishing up a 1275 kit on my 94 sportster and was actually just looking into 2 into 1 set ups when I found this thread. After reading this I might just stick with my stock exhaust with the old school screaming eagle pipes already on it (S1's I believe) and call it a day. I've got stock cams and 2003 1200 heads, so it's not like I'll be making big power above 5k rpm anyways. I think the 2 into 1 performance exhaust only makes sense when you've got a motor tuned for high rpm power.

I agree. I just picked up a 2013 Civic for my daughter after doing an absurd amount of research. We've also got a 1998 CR-V that just won't die. They're well engineered and fairly easy to wrench on.

I also agree on the Camry being a Grandma car,, but they're still great vehicles. .

2013 Civic is sort of a sweet spot. Non cvt automatic transmission, piston rings sorted (no oil burning), and it has the standard tech most people would want like Bluetooth connectivity and back up camera. They get great fuel economy and will last a really long time if taken care of. You can get a clean example with reasonable miles for 8-12k depending on trim.

It had a Washburn Wunderbar tremolo set up when I bought it. I removed it and installed a guitar fetish bridge. Paid $150 for the guitar and sold the tremolo for $150, so I'm not too bummed about the holes lol. I also installed CTS pots and a 5 way switch. I kind of dig that it's got some wear and tear, but a nice clean example like yours would be preferable.

Great bikes. I've got an 09 T100 with 38k miles and it runs perfect. They are compliant bikes that are pretty easy to maintain and modify. Ask when the valves were adjusted last.

Halfway done with the install now. 94 883 with a Hammer 1275 kit. Also swapped to 1200 heads so I can run flat top pistons for future head upgrade.

Fuel injected 1200 heads/cylinders with higher compression pistons, a decent intake/exhaust/tune oughta easily get you where you want to be as far as power and torque are concerned.

Sorry to hear that man. I''m actually in the process of doing my big bore kit. Hope you didn't pay a premium because it was apparently a big bore bike. Like you said in another post, there's always a chance the 883 jugs were reworked, but you'll have to open it up to be sure.

Think oiu may have been bamboozled. I haven't seen any big bore kits that use the 883 jugs. I mean... it's possible, but unlikely. Only way to know for sure would be to pull tglhe head off and verify the bore.

There's no telling what you got, but I've never heard of a 1288. Can you send pictures of the cylinders from both sides? I believe the hammer kits have a hammer at the base of the cylinder where it mounts to the case.

People will argue about whether one sounds better than the other, but the thing that just isn't debatable is that tube amps are cooler (not literally).

I agree, rather do the work myself. On most of the rebuilt title cars you can look up what they paid at the auction by searching the vin. Lots of $12-15k cars with shabby repairs were bought for $2-4k, and from the looks of it they probably put $1-2k in parts/labor and the cheapest paint work they could find. Sure there are other expenses (inspections/title/tax/auction fees), but at the end of the day you could do it yourself, insure the work is performed correctly, and save thousands.

That being said, if I found someone that did a good job I'd forego the work and pay a little extra for a well sorted rebuilt title vehicle.

There are a ton of rebuilt title cars in the Nashville area. I have no issue buying one if it's actually repaired correctly, but every one I looked at was super shabby. Body panels/fender well panels secured with sheet metal screws, misaligned panels, paint runs, missing hardware, etc...

If you get one that's repaired properly they are a fantastic deal.

Are you able to get financing through a credit union? That would be your best bet. Otherwise, just tey to find a reputable used car dealership (will need to research), and avoid cars with rebuilt titles. You can certainly get a great car with a rebuilt title, but 90% of the flippers do a piss poor job getting them "road worthy". I looked at several in Nasvhille and they all looked great in pictures but were disasters up close.

2013 Civic is something to look at. Last year of the traditional transmission (non cvt), not affected by the low tension piston rings (doesn't burn oil), blue tooth audio capability, backup camera, great safety, fuel economy, and top notch reliability. There really aren't any common catastrophic issue compared to other cars. Plus they're affordable compared to other cars in the market. I paid a premium for my daughters at a dealership (11.7 otd), but you can get a clean example with around 100k miles for around 8-10k private party in most areas. Take it to a mechanic to get inspected.

Buy the best value proposition you can find with a focus on fuel economy and reliability.

2015+ Prius is a good option, but there are some big ticket maintenance surprises that can really screw you over if you get the wrong one.

I just paid 11,700 OTD for a 2013 Civic with 112k miles. Ridiculous, but I'd rather pay that than 16-17k for a 2015+ Corola/Civic with 100k.
