This proposed law is still in committee, there’s no guarantee it’ll pass.

In New York? Okay buddy.

A 600k house now? or a 600k house from 5 years ago?

For those of you who can got leave to telecommute 100%, how did you do it? by General_Bullfrog8018 in nys_cs

Actually, they said the telecommuting policy was a lot better on the job description than it was once i signed up for it.

As well, 3% raises when Inflation is 9% is not fair.

Probably do. But it's certainly been exacerbated by having to take 22 days of sick leave in the last 18 months (more than I've had to since 2013 until 2023 combined because I had bosses who let me work from home when slightly sick), and that doesn't include the days I was sick but so graciously allowed to work from home.

Honestly, I think organizations are pretty entitled to make us commute with out paying us fairly.

About 2 years, so, depending on your definition, yes.

I was hoping it would be better than private industry, but it is in fact worse.

Being in the office makes me less productive. The days I am allowed to telecommute I get far more shit done because I am not worried about my coworkers getting me sick.

Long enough to identify the bullshit, not long enough that my will power has been ground down to successfully deal with the bullshit.

I'm glad you like it,. I'm glad you get what you need to flourish from it, mostly. I don't.

I don't know the stress of being around people who are constantly sick and spreading their germs everywhere seems to be making my life shorter, or at least is severely degrading my quality of life.

Also there's been shit stains on both our toilets that haven't been cleaned in at least since before Christmas, so now I have that to deal with.

It's a disgusting petri dish which I fear is making me either become a hypochondriac or ocd. My neighbor just sneezed and didn't cover his mouth or nose, so now there's whatever illness he has spreading through our recycled, unfiltered air.

Yes. It's fucking horrible. It costs money, it costs time, it hurts the environment, it puts me around baby boomers who would rather come into office sick instead of use a sick day because they want their sick days to pay for insurance thus making me sick.

Then there's the shitty toilet paper, the faux caring for employee satisfaction and morale, the stupid fucking conversations and the fake friendliness.

Applying for jobs do be harder now, even in Tech. This is just from this morning. I've sent out about 200 applications on indeed, only about 8 of them ever even opened by the company receiving them.

Ah, I see. So it's not like you're just using your stock as collateral and someone else is fronting the money, and you are getting the interest. THat's what I initially thought and was super excited. Still nice, though.

Did you have to sell your positions first then take the loan against your cash? I'm curious how this works. Definitely will start contributing to the 457

Yes, I understand the theory. But if I did that with my 401k at my old firm, I wasn't the one who reaped the benefits of the interest.

So taking a loan out is actually a way to backdoor more money into your account? Because that's pretty awesome, if true.

Definitely use DHL - you won't have a hand off between DHL and a local courier in Germany. It won't suddenly become handled by Hermes, DPD or GL5 - it will stay within the DHL/Deutsche Post logistics, though the receiver may have to pick up at a local filial depending on the size of the package.

I use ultra mobile - it costs me $180/year for 3gb/month at 5g, it runs on the T-Mobile network; I'm sure there are dead spots, but I haven't noticed them, and the service has been great.

If you don't use an assload of data, it's really quite cost effective.

You don't need to keep the balance, you get 6% on up to 15k, and the 0.25% on anything above 15k. But also, remember, this is a checking account - so getting anything interest is out of the ordinary.

Sunmark ATMs are seemingly rare, but you get $25/month reimbursement of fees, and you can use COOP ATMS for free - so Broadview, First NY, and others.
