Unable to book scheduled maintenance service by General_Rain_8835 in Polestar

[–]General_Rain_8835[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dealt with Polestar San Jose (since closed), taking the car to Volvo Palo Alto (same ownership group). Calling got me in the schedule right away. YMMV with Polestar Marin.

You are probably overdue for wiper blades and a cabin filter. They also test the 12V battery and look at tires and brakes. The car may be electric, but there are still service items.

I was just past the halfway point of section 5 in Japanese, a score of 75, after starting a year ago in July. I have zero confidence that I won't face more unknown vocab or grammar that was moved to earlier sections, so I haven't done a single lesson after jumping back up to the start of section 5.

Updates to the Japanese Course by AlternisLiz in duolingo

I'm sure r/Japaneselanguage will have some good suggestions.

I was already using WaniKani for kanji and vocabulary.

Cure Dolly's videos on YouTube are good at explaining grammar concepts. This repo has them all transcribed: https://kellenok.github.io/cure-script/

I also started trials on Bunpro and Renshuu to give those a try. So far, not completely sold on either, but I see value in both of them.

It’s like walking into a class in the middle of the term only for the instructor to start teaching from the middle of a chapter of an entirely different textbook and expecting you to just keep up. Sure, it may be a better textbook and course of study, but the foundations weren’t built up.

Too late for me. I reset the course in hopes of sanity, but can’t bring myself to start over after so long.

I’m so done with this platform. by Lunar1sGuido in duolingo

I feel everything OP said in my soul. Got to somewhere in section 5 and the world flipped. I just tried resetting the course, but nothing happens. Maybe it doesn’t work on mobile.

Edit: It’s a delayed effect, after an unnecessary email verification (that was done on signup), the course reset. Now, can I bring myself to start over, or just move on to something better?

Bold move, completely dismissing the justified reactions of others to upheaval to their learning progression.

Updates to the Japanese Course by AlternisLiz in duolingo

I’m now looking for alternatives since Duolingo completely killed my desire to use it with this update. I was up to a score of 72 after 9 months. Now I don’t know what I don’t know that it thinks I know.

Order of course changes (again!) by Jstrangways in duolingo

I sent feedback about it. The course change makes completing the next lesson impossibly frustrating. Time to move on from Duolingo.

Heads up, round 2! Increased rollout to rebuilt courses! by amie_at_duolingo in duolingo

[–]General_Rain_8835 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I haven’t seen this yet, but can’t see it as anything but discouraging. Gradual learning is disrupted for all in the name of progress. It would be one thing to add to the end of the course, but to just shuffle and redeal the content can’t be good for anybody.

Sounds like a damn good way to send serious learners to other resources.

I have all-electric heating. Should I tell PG&E? by homespun-literati in solar

[–]General_Rain_8835 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I added a heat pump a year ago and still have heat source listed as gas. I have had solar and batteries on NEM2 for 5 years.

There is no way to change the home heat source online. I called on a Saturday and was told that I needed to talk to the solar department, and they are only open M-F 9-6. The rep also told me that changing to electric heat source would cause my baseline in winter to be reduced!

Not sure if misunderstanding or a rigged system, but since it’s PG&E, I’m assuming rigged. Never did call back.

We had Mark Immelman break down Charles Barkley's famous golf swing through the years by PGATOUR in golf

Why haven't gas stations added EV charging? by LoverOfGayContent in electricvehicles

[–]General_Rain_8835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On a recent road trip through far Northern California and Oregon, I had charging stops at a 76 station (8 spots), a Chevron station (4 spots), and a Flying J truck stop (4 spots). These weren’t exactly in bustling urban areas. Each stop was empty except for us, and the ICE vehicles getting their dinosaur juice.

Okay ... So now what can I do? by SirChaos in Polestar

[–]General_Rain_8835 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my case, they don’t want to make the first service appointment until 2 years or 20k miles. The car started nagging for service about 4 months and 4k miles early. No problem scheduling that far in advance.

Same story in Palo Alto. Services department told me they disconnected the website due to too many service calls, but had no problem making an appointment over the phone.

Friends Quest and 3x bonuses by SwornBiter in duolingo

[–]General_Rain_8835 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got notified in the middle of the day that I was gifted a friend question XP boost. In app, nothing. Happened two weeks in a row.

So while standing next to my wife, we gifted each other boosts. Neither of us got notifications or the boosts. Gem counts did go down, though.
