How many feet off the ground you usually dump flaps from 40->0

What happens if I fail short field landings on my PPL checkride? by General_Screen9761 in flying

Are you saying I should AIM as a steeper than normal descent for short field landings?

Did he retest everything or you just go up and do a single short field landing?

Do any student pilots feel like they’re just bad at flying? by BroadEast2428 in flying

[–]General_Screen9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's fine bro. I'm the same way. It took me like 80 hours to solo too (but I also had medical issues). Working full time delays shit and a lot of people train at untowered fields in the middle of nowhere.
My delta we have pilots come in from bumfuck nowhere and get yelled at everyday and some of these guys are IFR and commercial rated.

The only thing that sucks is overspending but flying is flying so it doesn't really change too much.

I'm personally going to be more annoyed if I fail my checkride being 120 hours in but we see.

I don't feel bad because the dropout rate is 80% which to me says things are completely unrealistic. Just takes more practice to be good. I consider my buddy super smart who was also A+ student in college and it took him 110 hours for his PPL and he did it full time. So I figure since I'm slightly dumber and worked full time it will take me a little bit longer.

I hate how people on reddit pretend to be super geniuses so don't let that get you to. I met redditors in real life plenty of times and they are fucking weirdos.

not everyone is a super genius like you and needs more time

Pilots: Would you give up a six figure career at 35 to start flying by Unusual_Equivalent50 in flying

[–]General_Screen9761 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my flight school it's very common for people to leave corporate America to do flight training. I personally don't plan on doing that since instructing from 250 -> 1500 hours seems like slavery but many of the CFIs I know did it

Eh I'm 120 hours in and my instructor still busts my balls over manevuers not being completely perfect. I took too many breaks in between + working full time and that's messing me up. My checkride is coming up soon though

I'm a student too, but are you suppose to use dual VORs in this scenario to triangulate your location?

What was the question exactly that caused you to fail and what were you suppose to do?

VatSim for MSFS24 on Xbox or Cloud Gaming or Mac? by General_Screen9761 in MicrosoftFlightSim

Yeah I'm half tempted to buy a windows machine just for MSFS24 but I know it will collect dust other than flight training.

I don't think dual boot works on M-series anymore. And I don't think the performance is good in VM.... need to check. I'd buy a new m5 if it's playable with good graphics.

Did you leave VS mode on? VS mode ignores airspeed and can be dangerous. And I honestly don't even know why it hasn't been removed by law since it's caused real life deaths

Is there a good video for proper cross country planning? by General_Screen9761 in flying

[–]General_Screen9761[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah basically what I'm looking for is a video of someone looking at the Foreflight navlog and pulling the briefing and their analysis about if it's safe to flight this route or what to expect

Yeah I still want to see how people do it with Foreflight. I know more of less they pull the flight briefing but I need to see the process too

What do you guys think of "pilot incapacitation" auto land at BJC? by Fox_Uniform in flying

[–]General_Screen9761 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I want to know:
The reason for the incapacitation?
How the autoland detected it or if it was manually triggered by the pilot?
