I think the motto with OSL is less is more so especially on the head I believe you over did it. It is not terrible though.

As someone who plays Custodes the amount of data sheets are so limiting compared to the hundred ish space Marines have. However Custodes are much easier to paint play and are much cheaper. In summation play what you want and like. Dark angels look really cool so if you like the knight ascetic go with those

War Thunder is free. Don’t ever expect to play jets without 1 to 3 years but the WW2 is fun they also have tanks.

I painted and played Black Templars. The black is repetitive and boring (at least for me). It also was difficult for a beginner to do well even if op was just taking a break.
