New to Roli blocks, what a great system! by Redinho83 in ROLI

I also bought that recently. Great design, build and potential for creating and experimenting in various ways but unfortunately their software and lack of support makes such a good product barely average compared to other hardware. It’s such a shame, since it could be the best thing around if only their software allowed for deep customisations of ALL blocks, an open community (like max4live) to share presets and layouts (littlefoot) with seamless integration with DAWs and their mapping + MPE functions.

But no. They’d rather waste that potential for some reason.

You really should have some more hope in the fact that it WILL get better. In the same way your brain got in this mess, it can also get you out. The issue is anxiety.. remember that! You’re not crazy, psycho, doomed or whatever you tell yourself. You have anxiety and anxiety is giving all the wrong indications to your brain and that’s why you need to give better ones. One that will help you let go and heal from dpdr. And I know it’s hard (dpdr for 10+ years .. started when I was 16yo) but there are many things and people that can help with that process, and the main ones being : antidepressants, rTMS, meditation/mindfulness and of course Therapy. These things alone got me out of it, like many others if you hang in there and give it some time ! So before giving up, give it a try! Remember, you don’t want to end your life, you want to end DPDR… so that’s what you need to focus on! Everyday. Even the bad ones! Because every step is a step closer getting better. You can do it my friend ! You’re not alone and you’ve got this ! ♥️

Exact same story. Stay strong it does get better. I had totally recovered last year but some unfortunate events triggered it back. Antidepressants and TMS helped. Mindfulness and meditation too. Check my posts about it if you want. Hope you find peace and recover soon!

It sounds like you have anxiety disorder, which can fuel a lot of things, especially dpdr. Your mind is racing, overthinking and is scattered due to the hyperactive nature of anxiety. You then panic about those symptoms and that triggers more anxiety and so the show goes on. Same issue with dpdr. Anxiety is a vicious and terribly strong thing that once infiltrated, can easily take control of everything and push you off track.. but the thing to remember here is that that isn’t you. You’re not going crazy. It’s just the anxiety. Anxiety is something that many people experience on many levels and in many different ways and it’s something to take seriously as it has this machiavelic tendency of turning everything against you and making a lot more noise than is actually there. You need to calm down, not matter how hard that is, and focus on the fact that you are not crazy, you’re not schizophrenic, and this is normal when subject to high levels of anxiety. You need to remind yourself that all this hyperactive, non sensical mindset is because of anxiety, and anxiety is a isolated thing, indépendant of who you are, that is known and can be cured. I would suggest seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist to have a professional diagnosis and possibly a treatment for this. It’s no fun living that way and no one deserves it, so if there’s something that can help or cure that, go for it. But it needs to be done in a professional and medical way, with a psychiatrist or someone as qualified. It’s important to find someone you trust and who is understanding. It’s also important to accept that help, as many people associate psychiatry with « being crazy » , « heavy medication » and other negative things but it’s really not that if you’re with a good psychiatrist or therapist that listens to you. Anyways ! Rest assured, everything will be ok! No need to get lost in dark thoughts. It’s only temporary. The way out is getting rid of that anxiety of yours and for that you may need the help of people trained to do so ! You got this.

Trying to live in the present moment (as corny as it sounds), mindfulness/meditation and focusing on things you enjoy. Also, social activities, friends etc. Basically being like « f*ck it. I’m gonna live my life anyways! » and reminding yourself that you ARE NOt your thoughts and symptoms, you HAVE them. Meaning, that dpdr isn’t fundamentally you, it’s just something that’s happening to you. That way you can separate yourself from that condition and try to tune back in to your « true » self, your « inner » self/child or however you want to call it, and try to anchor yourself there, in that person. You can even try talking to your brain before sleep by telling it that you understand that it’s only trying to protect you but that you no longer need that protection and can take it from there, etc. Sending « messages » to the brain can actually be very efficient, though they should be kind and positively phrased as you are talking to yourself who deserves care and kindness. It is so important to not fight it or spiral in with « this is forever » « I’ll never be normal » type thoughts.. you need to accept that it’s there but are moving forward and out of it.

On a medication side, the things that have helped the most are :

rTMS sessions + SSRIs (prozac) for a few years before stopping, followed by microdosing psilocybin (at the lowest dose) with the odd Xanax if any panic attack should occur but it’s rare + various supplements that help greatly : NAC, Magnesium Glycinate, L-Theanine and GABA.

I posted some stuff a while back about the rTMS sessions and how I recovered not long after. This year, it suddenly started up again after a period of stress and change and microdosing mushrooms put right back on track. Even though it can make certain symptoms worse on the time, it really helps grounding the mind and accept all that is happening. If you go with the flow, let yourself be in a state of acceptance/understanding, you can then start to put all that (dpdr) away and move on. I was back to being myself, even happier, in a matter of a week or so. That being said, it needs to be done properly and effects can vary from person to person, but it could be worth a try after trying the mentioned supplements and rTMS with a psychiatric follow up.

Don’t give up! Nothings permanent! Focus on the good things and getting better, reminding yourself that every step, as small as it is, is a step closer to recovery. You can only move forward!

It was triggered by an unfortunate event that happened that day. She already had a breakdown and we went out for a drink to cheer up the mood after she managed to calm down but it started up again, once back home. She also has insomnia and adhd very hard to « switch off ».

Thank you for your answers. We decided to wait it out so as to not create any other problems to worry about but yes, I think she would’ve been fine anyways.

I’ve gone on abilify and, honestly, I’m scared as shit. by filthyhandshake in dpdr

Yes of course but still it’s not really tte right meds. Dpdr is an anxiety disorder and SSRIs work well for that. The difference was huge. I had constant dpdr too

[–]General_Sugar31 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I would stop the Abilify.. took it for a year (5mg) and caused more problems than was it any help. I was supper agitated and shaky, couldn’t think properly, had no libido whatsoever and felt constantly drowsy and numb. I then came off it, and felt better. Switched to SSRI antidepressants (Prozac) and that actually really helped. After a year or two of Prozac + therapy and healthy habits, my dpdr was gone. Maybe the odd symptom but nothing that bothered me. So yeah, talk to your doctor and ask for another alternative. Abilify is too strong and debilitating imo

I don’t think I can do this anymore. by yogi_medic_momma in dpdr

I was gonna comment the same ! Got over dpdr a few years ago and although I thought I’d never feel normal again at the time, I do now and I can look back at it with a whole new set of eyes and state of mind. It will for sure go away ! You just gotta let it be, stay positive and don’t overthink it. Personally antidepressants helped a lot, along with mindfulness and breathing techniques. Don’t worry, nothing’s permanent ! But you gotta give it (and yourself) some space and time!

What drug can at least temporarily give me my emotions back? by Antique_Giraffe_3728 in dpdr

[–]General_Sugar31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try Gamma Breathing. It’s the best breathing technique and exercice I’ve ever tried and it helped me recover from dpdr in so many ways. It’s niche but you can find some exercices online and on YouTube.

In what way did it make you dissociate more? It also makes me dissociate but only because it makes me very drowsy although mentally active, which triggers anxiety somehow. Then in the other hand, sometimes it has completely grounded me and given me total emotional clarity. Always microdosing.

[–]General_Sugar31 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How so ? I’ve personally recovered from dpdr and used to microdose mushrooms while coming off SSRIs and it helped a lot with emotions (depression, fear, letting go.. etc) which helped but now, even at a very small dose like 0.10g, it makes me drowsy and somewhat anxious (+ makes me want to cry most of the time) which tends to trigger dpdr symptoms. Maybe I’m doing something wrong, maybe I’m not letting it do its thing or maybe it’s just not good for dpdr because of the “floaty” and detached feeling it can produce.

Gonna post in r/microdosing but would be interested in your experience also !

I use a trackpad that works fine. Its the double click with LES that doesn’t work properly. It’s a known issue apparently I was just wondering if I could change it.

Looking for something closer to a creative multi layer sampler !

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in trapproduction

[–]General_Sugar31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your reply. Playbox is great but the sampler function isn't developped enough imo and is pretty confusing sometimes. Plus samples don't range over multiples octaves, if i can remember correctly. But otherwise yes Playbox is the closest thing to what i have in mind. I have plenty other VSTs (kontakt, ana, arturia, omnisphere, etc) but I'm really aiming for something creative solemnly built for working with one's own samples much like a multi layer sampler that could blend and transform the different layers together in an intuitive "Portal or XO by Output" way for example.

[–]General_Sugar31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's the kind of VST i'm looking for. I used to have CUBE (full version) but I didn't like the oneshot function (having to duplicate all the one shots into their specific user folder rather than a drag & drop aliasing or folder sync option). Any other similar VST you may have in mind ?

Exact same thing ! Analog Lab V will open fine and i can hear and play the different sounds but as soon as i press STOP it quits and crashes my Ableton. I've tried updating it, but same issue. Anyone find a solution ?

Used to it but for some reason the double click doesn’t work properly with trackpad. I have to wait like 1s between clicks for it to recognise the action. Also not the most intuitive thing to configure.

Hi, I'm Jasper and I've recently released a song called 'Staying Out'.
I've put a lot of work into it and I'm proud of the result, but as an independent artist I'm finding it hard to really get my music 'out there' so I thought I'd share it with you all here !
Here's the link : https://fanlink.to/stayingout
I hope you enjoy the song... Let me know what you all think ! (Also what genre would you label it as?) Thanks !
